CHAMPIONSHIP cards have been up and down as far as both teams to score are concerned but hopefully there will be a few goals this weekend.

FA Cup ties dominate the fixture list so league-wise we are left with Premier League and Championship encounters.

And I’m starting right at the top of the Championship with leaders Cardiff at Bolton. Dougie Freedman began his Reebok reign with a defeat at Middlesbrough but he’ll hope for an improvement and Bolton’s last five matches have seen both score.

Cardiff have netted 11 in their last four but their only clean sheet in that spell came at home to Burnley last weekend so both to score looks the shout in the Saturday night kick-off.

Next try Nottm Forest v Millwall, a clash between two sides who have been free-scoring in recent weeks. Both netted four in big wins last weekend and Forest have netted nine goals in three games while Millwall have banged in 14 in six, with both sides hitting the target in five of those outings.

In the early Premier League match it’s difficult to leave out Man United v Arsenal. It was of course 8-2 to United at Old Trafford last season and in midweek the League Cup ties featuring the sides produced an amazing 21 goals – seven of them in extra time.

Arsenal have no case for the defence after beating Reading 7-5 from 4-0 down while United will hope to improve from their 5-4 defeat at Chelsea as Alex Ferguson brings back his main men.

Finally, I’m moving on to the FA Cup and it’s somewhat of a minefield with sides such as Yate, Hendon, Bromley, Fylde and Arlesey among those in action.

I’m sticking to what I know and looking at the all League One meeting between Preston and Yeovil. It was 3-2 to Preston in the league at Deepdale earlier this season and the previous meeting was 4-3.

Preston have netted in thir last six, barring matches with Sheff Utd and MK Dons, while Yeovil have scored in their last six.

My final choice is an all League Two clash between Morecambe and Rochdale. The last four meetings have seen both score including a 2-1 away win for Morecambe a couple of weeks ago.

Both teams to score

Bolton v Cardiff (5.20)

Nottm Forest v Millwall

Man United v Arsenal (12.45)

Preston v Yeovil

Morecambe v Rochdale

Someone told me that last season btts on all championship games came up 3 times. For a £2 stake every week and if it comes up even once then you will be up for the season. Worth a try!

Sean, the Championship 12 games never came up but in midweek there were times when all eight or nine played on the one night came up. The EPL did come up a couple of times as did the some of the Scottish leagues but of course they have less games. Rather than trying all games from one league you’ll do better picking two or three from each league that look most likely to come up.

  2. john.t 6 years ago

That sound a good idea Sean, what about if we try 2 pound on every lg say from prem to lg 2 til one of the lg comes in (*¯︶¯*)

  3. Reece 6 years ago

The championship didn’t come in once last season for a complete 12-fold where every team scored . It went close a couple of times.

  4. john.t 6 years ago

What about picking the same 3or4 teams every week, forget about form as any teams can score a. Goal, even if its man u against Barnet, just pick the same teams every week i bet over a season we wouldnt be any worse off

John.t, as you say any team can score in any game whether it’s a 1-1 draw or 7-1 defeat. I’ve said before there’s nothing wrong with picking games at random for this market. I have my system and I’m to stick with that.

  5. john.t 6 years ago

Its like trying to pick ya lotto numbers, trying to pick 10 teams to score , which what 5 games is 10 teams, but we all keep trying don’t we, good luck this wk end lads

Random BTTS would not work if one of the teams is San Marino!

    • John 6 years ago

It might if the other one was the Faroe Islands

Striker, when I say “random” you would leave out the obvious ones to start with. And anyway I remember San Marino taking the lead against England once and they’d probably fancy their chances against Scotland.

  7. Sean McCready 6 years ago

Sorry was given wrong info. I’ve got 3 quid on the 12 championships games this weekend paying £1300! Hardly enough to pick 4 or 5 winners on this market never mind a full league lol

    *hard enough

Touching on what John T says in above post, picking same 3 or 4 teams every week.

    I pick Peterborough,Wimbledon,Ebbsfleet,Braintree every week.
Have done so for 2 seasons now,and i have made a good healthy profit.

  10. john.t 6 years ago

Andy, thanks, that is exactly what i mean mate, there is know way you can predicted Both teams to score the priceses should be a lot higher than they are because Its the most random bet there is, it is like picking loto numbers, so that is the reason i say pick the same teams every wk like people pick the same loto numbers every week.

In the last 2 season the only league that evey team has scored is the premier league. Happened when liverpool played fulham on a monday nite and won 5-2. Am not counting scottish div 123.

  12. John Connor 6 years ago

    I like to pick 5 and perm any 4 and all 5 (6x £5 =£30).

If you pick at least 1 game that has a later kick off and your first 4 come in (£50 at betfred)you can then back against yourself in the last game.

The odds for both teams not no score are normally better than evens, so I like to stick on £30. Whatever the result you are in profit.

my banker for the weekend, a hope, is City Chelsea Napoli and Frankfurt tonight. champions league coming up so wee bit dodgy but Chelsea and City will want to keep up wi man utd if they win against arsenal or take advantage if they drop points, napoli should bring Cavani bak in and Frankfurt should win tonight. starting a rolling acca wi skybet to wi free £3 bet starting wi btts Brighton/Leeds and see how far I can get

  14. alex walker 6 years ago

Been a few goals scored in the spl lately. This wkend looks good for all to score! Might have a wee tenner on it myself!

  15. Robbie 6 years ago

Any advice for the Leeds game tonight? Goals or not many? Cheers

Robbie, I haven’t had any time to look at it with the catching up I’ve had to do with the Record column and getting weekend tips written up. I read the Racing Post article that suggested under 2.5 goals if that’s any use. But I’m not tipping anything without having a good look.

  16. Robbie 6 years ago

    No worries. Cheers mate

Anyone doing a first scorer or anytime scorer line? Dean shields let me down midweek. Thinking RVP, Charlie Austin, Niall mcginn, any other suggestions?

    Is cavani back for Napoli?

Clarks, I tend to concentrate on UK card on a Saturday and have a look at Euro games on Sunday.

Brian, they were up at 8am. However, just realised I scheduled them for 8am on November 4. Can I still blame the jetlag for that. Anyway they are on now.

  19. Brian 6 years ago

Your forgiven as long as they come up ha ha

  20. alex walker 6 years ago

cant believe it hertz done me for all spl teams to score! And stoke in my other line! Always 1.

  21. Andy W 6 years ago

I dont know wether to laugh or cry.

I have a line still going, BTTS at Peterboro,Ebbsfleet,Wimbledon all came in today,Waiting on Braintree tmw. I tipped these 4 teams on here yesterday on this column.I take them every week. So all good with that.

Every week I take a mega BTTS line, 13 games usually,
I got 25/26 scoring today, Tamworth never scored against Grimsby. The closest I have came on the mega line this season, paid £1020 for £3 stake. So damn close.
Will e mail a copy of line to Paul, to show proof. Really cant believe it.

Andy, on the three btts lines I put up today I got 27 out of 28, only Yeovil not scoring.

  22. Andy W 6 years ago

It was goals galore today paul, cant believe it. I have e mailed my line to you, for consideration in the unlucky line of the week in the daily record.

  23. Bob H 6 years ago

Yeovil spoiled a few btts lines today. Going down to 10 men, away from home with half an hour to go doesn’t help :(
