REGULAR visitors to this site will know the pain I’m suffering after three near misses in the last three attempts.

Nine out of 10 teams have scored, giving small returns for those who took the advice to perm, but it’s been agony hitting the bar so often.

I was hoping my luck would change this weekend but Wimbledon v Bradford, one of my hot picks, is one of the early fallers to the weather.

By noon 12 English games had been called – the others being at Crystal Palace, Brentford, MK Dons, Stevenage, Walsall, Accrington, Barnet, Macclesfield and Port Vale.

I’m starting the English line off with a game that will be overshadowed by the circus surrounding the future of Harry Redknapp.

Spurs entertain Newcastle at home knowing their boss could be about to jump ship to England. Hopefully at the end we’ll be talking about events on the pitch and not off it because this has the potential to be a cracker.

Spurs are always good value at home these days and with players such as Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Rafael van der Vaart and Jermain Defoe it’s hard to imagine them not scoring.

It was 2-2 when they met at St James’ earlier in the season and Newcastle will go to London full of confidence after Demba Ba netted against Aston Villa last week on his return from the African Nations and his Senegal team-mate Papiss Demba Cisse blasted the winner on his debut. I can see Spurs edging this one but both teams should score.

I’d be on Man Utd v Liverpool if it wasn’t the lunchtime game so be free to include if you’re not bothered about the prospect of your line going down early.

Five of the last six meetings have featured both scoring and they way United defended at Chelsea you’d expect Liverpool to hit the target.

So we’ll leave it off the accumulator and instead look at Leeds v Brighton which was a 3-3 thriller when the sides met last September. Caretaker boss Neal Redfearn guided Leeds to a 3-0 win at Bristol City last week and another good result could see him in frame for the job on a permanent basis.

Brighton haven’t been prolific in recent weeks but have netted in their last six so one goal exactly for them is probably the call.

Next try Hartlepool v Bournemouth in League One. Pool have turned the corner under new boss Neale Cooper with six goals in two games against Carlisle and Sheffield Wednesday.

They face another tough test against a Bournemouth side who got an immediate return for their £800,000 investment in Matt Tubbs when he netted on his debut against Exeter in midweek. With Tubbs in their line-up the visitors will expect to net every time and this could be a scoring draw.

My fourth choice is another League One clash between Yeovil and Scunthorpe. Five of Yeovil’s last six have featured both sides scoring while Scunthorpe’s last six have brought up the market with a total of 19 goals. The last two meetings between the sides have been 2-1 to Scunthorpe.

Finally, replace Wimbledon v Bradford with Blackburn v QPR. Rovers conceded seven at Arsenal last week but competed well until going down to 10 men.

They are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League so you’d expect Mark Hughes’ rejuvenated visitors to score, although one of their new strikers Djibril Cisse is banned.

Seven of Rovers’ last eight have featured both teams scoring while it’s been the same for three of four for Rangers.

Both teams to score

Spurs v Newcastle (5.30)

Leeds v Brighton

Hartlepool v Bournemouth

Yeovil v Scunthorpe

Blackburn v QPR

Perm any 4 and all 5 (6 bets)

George, would prefer the Rovers game to the one at Chesterfield. Charlton have conceded just once in their last five league games.
