LAST week I picked out five early games – and two of them were jam-packed with goals.
My both teams to score line didn’t come up but I did offer a forfeit if Peterborough v Southampton wasn’t a correct pick.
It looked full of goals and in the end the teams served up eight in a 4-4 thriller.
I advised it to be No.1 pick on any both teams to score line and I had reports of some bookies taking the game down before kick-off on Saturday.
Others cut the price but were forced to take a hit. Here’s this week’s early look and I’m starting in the Premier League where seven goals produced an amazing 41 goals last Saturday – with only West Brom at Man City failing to hit the target.
The one I’ve got to start with is Blackpool v Aston Villa. Blackpool continue to leak goals but excite at the other end.
Ian Holloway shows no sign of changing tact even though the Seasiders are getting sucked closer to the relegation zone so expect plenty of goalmouth incident at Bloomfield Road.
Blackpool even have a keeper crisis with half-fit Richard Kingson the only available No.1. There is talk James Beattie will be between the sticks but it’s more likely the club will be given permission to bring in emergency cover.
Visitors Villa are picking up and Darren Bent’s made a difference – as he should do at more than £20million. He scored last week and for England in Denmark so confidence will be high.
Both teams to score is regarded by bookies as probable so pays a biggest 1-2 with Coral and others.
Might as well stay in the Premier League for Blackburn v Newcastle. The sides were involved in games last week that produced 15 goals so it looks as if they’ve forgotten how to defend. This one pays 4-6 with bodog and others.
There are several contenders in the Championship but let’s go with Norwich v Burnley. They both love to attack and Norwich just about always score at home. Burnley are capable of notching a couple so look at both teams to score at 8-13 with bet365.
Next we can’t ignore Peterborough after 16 goals in their last two games. I’m pretty sure they won’t keep a clean sheet at Charlton but are almost certain to score the way Darren Ferguson has his team set up. This one pays 4-9 across the board.
Finally, let’s look at the Second Division promotion battle betwen Ayr and Livingston in Division Three. Both outfits have been involevd in high scorers recently so defence isn’t a priority.
There should be a decent crowd inside Soemrset Park to see some decent football. Ayr have former SPL star Mark Roberts up front while Livingston recently signed far-travelled but still capable former top-flight striker Kenny Deuchar. Both players might score, both teams certainly should. It pays 4-7 with Skybet.
