Dec 9: Johnb’s Racing Tips & Chat

Racing_WilliamHill

IT was a 3 point profit for Johnb on Tuesday after his NB For Good Measure won at 5-1.

December is now a 9.21pt profit and our man has a joint Nap and NB lined up for Wednesday.

Johnb’s Wednesday Tips

Lingfield 2:25
Outer Space 5-1 NAP/NB betvictor (double stake)

3:25
Who’sthedaddy 9-2 bet365

Double
Outer Space & Who’sthedaddy 29.25-1 ladbrokes

Outer Space (NAP)
Johnb says: “This horse has been unlucky a few times not getting any room especially two races ago when Adam Kirby was onboard.
He was content to have the horse at least 10 lengths behind the winner Arnold Lane, all the way down the straight he found trouble, three times when he wanted to go through with a run and three times the gap closed and Outer Space crossed the line in sixth placed on the bridle beaten under two lengths.
Outer Space’s last run was against better horses when finishing third beaten two lengths by Mindurownbusiness with Big Whisky in second and again the jockey this time William Carson couldn’t get going when he wanted and Mindurownbusiness got first run.
On Wednesday Adam Kirby is back onboard, if the horse is held up again then his luck has to change when going for gaps.
I would like to see Kirby having Outer Space more prominent as the horse does have a good finishing burst of speed.”

Balthazar King’s brother wins on handicap debut

FOR GOOD MEASURE, a brother and stablemate to high-class handicap chaser Balthazar King, broke his maiden at the fifth time of asking in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter on Tuesday.

Making his handicap debut, the Philip Hobbs-trained four-year-old travelled sweetly throughout under Richard Johnson before coasting to an easy eight-length success.

A son of the late King’s Theatre, For Good Measure was bred by Sunnyhill Stud’s Michael Hickey out of the Hernando mare Afdala, who has produced two other winners headed by Balthazar King.

The 11-year-old has built up a strong following among the jumps fraternity, having won numerous cross-country races in Britain and France, as well as finishing second in last year’s Grand National behind Pineau De Re.

Afdala has a two-year-old colt by Sunnyhill Stud resident Doyen and visited the sire again this year.

For Good Measure did not come cheap being a brother to Balthazar King, with his owner JP McManus’s son Kieran forced to €105,000 to secure him at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale last year.

Impressive pick Johnb, well done. Another school day for me!
Would you be worried about, your” who’s the daddy” now the horse lulus on, has shorten in price. Given the strong mention for her.
      cash out and swap?

Jthe don cossack I still fancy Who’sthedaddy even with the horse drifting but with it being a hands and heels race Storm Runner will have a massive advantage with Lulu Stanford onboard, her riding style will mean she isn’t hampering the horse as in it will be a smoother ride as she is so well balanced

JohnB, thanks for your help with the risk free bets today,

I am more of a greyhound punter as I would not know the right end o a horse. looks like the risk free punters will be on your Nap/NB tip for tomorrow as this is risk free bet follow up race
You mentioned earlier the punters in USA use the clock split times for horse races, which I use in the greyhound races, If it has been raining at Southwell, can it affect the clocks, a little rain it can speed up? or a downpour it would slow down the clocks, this happens to the greyhound tracks, heavy rain and the inside of the track is slower than the outside, favouring the wide runners.

  4. Profile photo of Johnb
    Johnb 12 months ago

Southwell is like soft ground, when it rains the ground compacts and it races faster so it has the opposite effect to turf

I have to give a mention to Lulu Stanford who looks like a seasoned pro when she rides,
I sometimes say certain jockeys are not strong enough in a finish as they wave their arms about trying to ride a finish
Lulu Stanford who won on Excellent Aim today looked confident, she read the race well sitting just off the pace and was strong in the finish
I think her racing style is faultless and she is well balanced

But for people that don’t know Lulu, she weighs 7 stone and is only 16 years old
Watch for her she has a massive future

Adam Kirby has just ridden like an amateur and made the cardinal sin at Lingfield and cost us a winner
With all the room he had there, why has he gone up the inside when every jockey knows the faster ground is up the middle where Certificate was
Absolute shocker of a ride and being so close on the slower ground proves how well this horse is running just now

People should watch that race again to to see how strong she is in a finish and how she rides and her racing style is pretty much perfect

    She has a big future
