JOHNB had an 11-4 winner on Thursday to finish the day 0.75pts in profit.

He’s now 12.21pts up for the month and says: “The Nap Teochew was disappointing and looked like the jockey wasn’t too forceful on the horse for whatever reason.”

Johnb’s Friday tips

Sandown 3:10
Silvergrove 4-1 NB hills

Wolverhampton 5:45
Al Muheer 4-1 NAP bet365

Hi johnb any thoughts on the 3.20 Exeter race ? Like the look of the fav but does have a pen + a few unknowns in the race also no form on soft going ?

i like golden doyen bertie, and i took the 5s at corals[cost for me a placepot, on scoope 6 last spring]. good form to fox norton[who has form with garde le victoire] so does calito but i couldn’t decide what was best form?? golden doyen possibly didn’t like the track, fast fences at sandown[which can be a specialist track]? i’d be very intresed in some extra info he as well, also considering g doylens ace form over hurdles against top notch and hargam. and karazeek all in the winter.

I’m quite sweet in golden form wise it makes sense time of year too let’s hope the monsoons don’t arrive

Got a shortlist of a few horses just waiting for the weather as its shocking in Wales atm

I’ve not put golden D, up as a tip because, I just can not work out form on ratings with grade la victories form, and other factors courses and going. No one else seems to be tipping it, (other sites). it has been quirky but looks the at the prices, the one for me also jimron.

Not the jockeys fault, I thought he did outstanding because for a jockey to be losing the saddle like that and still have the courage to ask Silvergrove for big jumps like that takes bottle

Unlucky with that one but I take my hat off to Tom David

  34. Profile photo of alex
    alex 1 year ago

JohnB I did not think I would have precisely the same feeling that I had yesterday! Unlucky. I reckon the horse drifted in the flight path of the winner as the jockey was getting down to business and he could not recover his balance!

  35. Profile photo of chilleden
    chilleden 1 year ago

That was horrible! I was shouting like mad in the bookies, he was looking so good! Never mind. Great pick you cannot get more unlucky than that

  36. Profile photo of Johnb
    Johnb 1 year ago

You could see the jockey had a problem about the third last fence, could have come off earlier but still Tom David only had one thing on his mind, winning

Paddy Power refunding singles on Silvergrove now. why can’t that happen when we’re ever on the horse in 2nd place? At least it means the Nap is going to come in now, just to make missing the double even more unlucky.

The latest news is saying the stirrup leather slipped, the main reason it slips is that the jockey has his legs too far back,
I still think it was another problem

Run-in unseat turns dream into nightmare

For an amateur rider jumping the last at Sandown when leading in the John Dunsdon Memorial Cup is the thing of dreams, but for Tom David it turned into a nightmare as he became unbalanced, and eventually unseated, on his mount Silvergrove on the run-in.

David had done all of the hard work, coaxing one final bold leap from his mount after a fantastic round as he tried to hold off the late challenge of Katie Walsh on the favourite Conas Taoi, but a tack malfunction resulted in David’s saddle slipping and caused the rider to exit via the side door.

Trainer Ben Pauling, who earlier watched his Malibu Sun get eclipsed in the final strides by Vision Des Champs – going down by a short-head in a photo-finish, was dealt further heartbreak by David’s unseat, but came to the defence of his rider.

He said: “At first glance it looks as if Tom has just fallen off, but the saddle tree broke.
He’d given it a great ride to that point but at the Pond fence the webbing that holds the stirrups in place came loose.
The leather didn’t break, but effectively it was a see-saw action with the stirrups sliding under his weight.

“You can clearly see them go – it was a real shame. Tom put his weight back onto his left foot and you can see them give way. When he put his weight back on to his other side, he had no chance of staying on.
“I’m not blaming Tom in any way – there was nothing he could have done.
I hope any grumbling punters recognise this.

“It’s a malfunction of the tack and the mad thing is he was using a saddle which is pretty much brand new.

“The horse’s schooling has been nothing short of exceptional at home and you don’t see many horses jump like that around Sandown – so it was a sad end.”

With Friday’s Nap still to run we should have had a winner already but Silvergrove when leading by 2 lengths on the run in had a tack fault and the jockey was unseated

    Saturday’s Tips

    Sandown

    2:25
    Savello 6/1 boylesports bet365

    3:00
    Special Tiara 4/1 NAP boylesports

    Aintree

    2:45
    Fort Smith 25/1 NB ladbrokes

    also 3x 0.5 point doubles & 1x 0.25 point eachway treble with ladbrokes odds 5/1 3/1 25/1

I have already tipped Special Tiara at 16/1 antepost

  47. Profile photo of Johnb
    Johnb 1 year ago

Simonsig is the latest horse to be pulled out of the Tingle Creek on Saturday
He was pulled out before I tipped Special Tiara as my Nap so no rule 4 and also my antepost tip on Special Tiara 16/1 won’t have a rule 4 because it’s antepost

It also means we are down to 7 runners but anyone that backed Special Tiara antepost at 16/1 will still get 3 places

    Special Tiara NAP

I have already advised this horse eachway at 16/1 in the antepost market, there are only 7 runners now but because he was advised antepost we still get 3 places,
Ran disappointing last time out but he always comes on alot for a run, last season he ran poor after a break then won the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton, after that he ran 3rd in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham that could have been even better but he was coming back from another break, he then went to Sandown and won the A P McCoy Celebration Chase beating three of Saturdays rivals Mr Mole, Somersby & Vibrato Valtat who is favourite on Saturday but Special Tiara beat him by 15 lengths

He will come on for his last run and I think Special Tiara should be favourite
