IT’S been a thrilling few days in Scotland with live matches at Hearts and Rangers thrilling armchair fans who snoozed off watching Man Utd-Chelsea and Leicester-Man City.
Hopefully the action won’t dry up today with five matches including a TV showdown that features Celtic at Dundee (now postponed).
And the fact Willie Collum is the man in the middle could add to the intrigue. Scotland’s Euro 2016 representative has been under fire from all corners for penalties awarded and spot-kicks he didn’t give.
Collum has handed out four penalties in his last two games – one each for Falkirk, Rangers, Aberdeen and Inverness.
Red cards and penalties are always speculative even when Collum is in charge but more likely at Dens are goals. Dundee have netted six in two but conceded five at Ross County at the weekend. Both to score is cracking value at 10-11 with William Hill while over 2.5 goals pays 4-7 at McBookie.
Kane Hemmings has grabbed five in his last two outings and the ex-Rangers man will be keen to make his mark against the Hoops. He is 4-1 at bet365 to net at any time and 14-1 to score first.
Celtic have massive injury problems with the likes of Scott Brown and Charlie Mulgrew out and Dedryck Boyata and Stuart Armstrong extremely doubtful. However, with Dundee leakier than the PM’s flood defences I’m sure the champs will win if Leigh Griffiths or Kris Commons start.
Former Dundee star Griffiths has been missed badly but could be fit and if he does back him at 7-2 with Coral to break the deadlock.
Elsewhere Hearts should take care of Dundee United at home and are a best 5-6 at Betfred. United have improved under Mixu Paatelainen but are winless in seven and the Jambos showed great fighting spirit to win a point off Celtic on Sunday.
Inverness are 11-5 with William Hill to add to Hamilton’s woes and should do so. With key men back they are looking more like the side that won the Scottish Cup last season while Accies are in relegation form at the moment and can’t buy a win.
Best bet at Motherwell v St Johnstone is both to score at 10-11 with William Hill.
