THE HOLIDAYS aren't going as well as hoped but that's maybe to be expected.

Results aren't easy to call this week and I see Sheffield Wednesday were so incensed they had to play two games in three days – while Middlesbrough weren't in action at the weekend – they tried to have the match called off.

I wish Bolton-Blackburn had been postponed. That set the tone for me with Bolton battling to a shock win in the early Championship kick-off.

Mansfield's draw with York beat my Top Treble and a decent long-shot treble would have come in if Notts County had managed a winner.

Greg Browning failed to land a 10th successive nap but still enjoyed a good day. His nap – over 2.5 goals at Arsenal – was his shortest price while his 11-10 NB Cambridge won as did a 3-1 over 2.5 goals double at Everton and Watford.

Desmond was unlucky with his 2+ double as Burnley battered four but Stevenage managed just one in a home defeat to Dagenham.

There is one Premier League game tonight and it could be a cracker between Leicester and Man City as well as four Championship matches including Leeds v Derby. That's meant to be on Sky but as it stands Leeds' owner is refusing to let the cameras into Elland Road.

I quite fancy Derby at 21-20 with Betfred and while Leeds have lost just three in 11 under Steve Evans the big Scots boss is also moaning about having to play two games in three days and their opponents having an extra day to recover.

While I don't believe Leicester's bubble has burst after a loss to Liverpool I will be on the away win especially if Jamie Vardy isn't fully fit after playing with a fever at Anfield before going off.

Man City look best placed to go on to lift the title now and are 10-11 with William Hill to build on a super show against Sunderland by winning at the King Power. David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne were the stars and I'm looking at Silva to score at 7-2 with Betfred.

There are four matches in Scotland any my two Super Singles are explained in a separate preview.

I'm starting my Top Treble with both to score at Falkirk v Livingston. Livi might be struggling but caretaker boss David Hopkin led them to a 4-1 win at St Mirren on Saturday and they've netted in five of their last six with Liam Buchanan always a threat.

Falkirk have a massive incentive to win as they'll edge above Hibs on goal difference and be just three points behind Championship leaders Rangers. Five of the last eight between the sides at the Falkirk Stadium have seen both score.

Add Derby draw no bet at Leeds. I'd side with Derby but, especially after reading nathanufton's excellent write-up, want to keep the draw on side.

Complete the treble with over 2.5 goals at Leicester v Man City. I don't think a 1-0 defeat at Liverpool takes away from the fact Leicester are are an over side and while their visitors are going well and scoring goals they always look likely to concede without skipper Vincent Kompany.

Elsewhere in the Championship Cardiff should beat Nottingham Forest and I can see an improved Rotherham, going for three wins in a row, surprising Fulham at Craven Cottage. I'd put it up as a Super Single but Fulham have appointed Slavisa Jokanovic as boss and I'm not sure what the immediate effect will be.

    Mahrez MOTM 7/1 @BETFRED

    Mahrez anytime 11/4 @Betfair

Hopefully Leicester win this game but even if they don’t I feel a draw will be enough to credit Leicester with MOTM award, fantasy football captain so both would be handy as 2nd in league but getting bunched up in the top 5

Nobody else think Remi Garde next PL to leave at 16/1 is a decent bet, if they don’t sack LVG think he’s a cert to go next. Obviously 1/33 fav to go but if man utd give him time think Garde will be gone by the summer. Dodgy market so only worth a fiver tops, who would’ve though Mourinho would go

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Alves, pretty much no chance of Garde being sacked. He’s not to blame for club’s current position.
Also I can’t see LVG lasting the season – but as you say no value at the moment.
I’d still be worried if I was Steve McClaren.

Thought about Ispwich on the DC which is reasonable @ 8/11 @ Boyles but I’ll side with them scoring instead despite it being a less likely probability.

Good day yesterday APART from Accrington who done me for a BTTS 9 fold.
Treble tipped up on Mr F thread last night
    Arsenal 8/15
    Boro 4/6
    Man U v Chelsea Under 2.5 4/7
    *WON*
That along with a few of Greg’s i doubled up put me well in profit for the day.
Mr F looking at the Scottish games tonight Falkirk look a stand out as well as Ross County and in England im with you all the way on Derby. I watched Leeds the other day and although they got a 1-1 with Forest they were poor in attack managing only 2 on target from 15 attempts at goal. I think Derby will be all over leeds as they’ve rested and will benefit from fitness of fresh legs.
    Good luck all.
PS Back at work today 1st one of seven 12 hour shifts in a row !! The Joys

I don’t think Aston villa will sack there manager NO – Do you really think they need that right now ??? Remi Garde is a good manager, it’s the team itself that need to sort themselves out. I think yesterday were very unlucky.

Corners in the Leciester game for Man City ? Hummmm how many corner bets do you place and out of them how many exactly do you win ??? I will leave it at that for now. Just for you I will stick £1 on Man City to get more then 6 corners ?

Anyway – Glad to know your well Mr Fix it. Ross county -1 seems fair enough to me. I hope it lands for you.

I’d be wary of Derby Corners mate, last 3 away they hit 4,2 and 3 and recently only hit 1 away at MK dons and Blackburn. Last game was at Derby and Leeds out-cornered them then 7-6, not saying it wont land but could be tight depends which Leeds side turn up lol

  11. 8 years ago

Stubhoy – Your bet looks quite good mate

    • stubhoy 8 years ago

Just a bit interest for small stakes Bastino mate. Although i think the Derby -1 Corner h/cap price is outstanding.

  12. nathanufton 8 years ago

    Pre-Derby match/team thoughts :

Having beaten Fulham on boxing day, the gaffer has come out publicly criticizing the Derby players !! Apparently they never showed the flowing football that he expects. He can blame a bad Christmas dinner, but a 2 nil win and a clean sheet that temporarily dropped us at the top of the league wasn’t good enough. Maybe he just has high standards and they’re not being met.

Anyway onto Leeds. There is history between the sides. Lots of it. For some strange reason I always reminisce about the punch-ups in the early seventies between these two. Not sure if its just a Derby thing, but we still call them Dirty Leeds. There’s usually cards galore and although I’ve not checked on who the man in the middle is, the bookies seem to of drawn the line in the sand at 3.5 cards. Its usually set at 4.5 cards for this match. It’s going to be a physical game, you can count on that and the 8/13 on offer with bet365 for over 3.5 cards will be one component of my double on this match.

Steve Evans and the Leeds owner have thrown a hissy fit over too many games in a short space of time and too many matches on Sky tv meaning they’re juggling kickoffs to suit the money men.
1st, everyone in the championship has that dilemma , it happens about 3 times in a season made worse by international breaks and 46 games to play.
2nd, tv revenue helps pay the bills, so why is he moaning?? What usually happens during the top 2 leagues is games are pre-selected for tv and then whoever is in contention towards the top AND bottom of the leagues around December onwards suddenly gets more air time. Please don’t feel sorry for us, yes there’s a long way to go but we’re in the mix. I’m not sure if it was post Bristol or post the Fulham match but a commentator pointed out Derby are 8 points higher and 4 places above where we were this time last season.

Steve Evans @ Leeds also knows how to play against Derby, 4 or 5 years back, his lowly Crawley humiliated us in the league cup and his career has lifted off ever since. People have figured out that the way to play against Derby is to battle, hard tackles. Derby have lost once on the road ( 1 nil to Notts Forest ) and once at home to …… Leeds. 2-1 ….. 19 games back. It was looking like a 1-1 until Chris Woods stole an 88th minute winner. That loss was I believe on the back of 4 or 5 draws that Derby had on the bounce. It put us 12 points behind Brighton.
So a few stats: 2 losses in 23 for Derby, 1 home, 1 away. 8 of 12 away matches the Rams have been involved in were under 2.5 total match goals. In fact our last 4 away matches have been under 2.5 goals.
We absolutely have to get something from this game, much like the following match away to Middlesborough. I think an extra days rest will help Derby, but I think the hairdryer treatment after the Fulham game will have the desired affect.

We’re still patchy on corners, I’m not confident on backing Derby under any handicap, and in light of Derby turning their defence on a sixpence and keeping so many clean sheets, its ruining many btts bets and hampering the overs 2.5 tmgs.

My bet will be a double, A Derby win/over 3.5 total cards with bet365. I believe £10 returns around £32.

Incidentally, George Thorne’s performances have put him on the radar of 4 premiership clubs. I can’t see him going anywhere though, he’s almost idolised at Derby.

No new injuries for Derby and we’re likely to stick with the same starting 11. The boss might add an odd change here or there, but as the saying goes ” if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it ”

    good luck guys.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

nathanufton, great write-up again. I’d be wary about taking Derby to win but I don’t see them losing and the cards angle looks good.
On the TV debate, Leeds can’t take the millions from Sky and then turn round and say. “You’re not getting in”.
Only one winner in that argument even though there’s no doubt now too many games are covered.

    Afternoon gents

Disappointed to see the NAP run end at 10, but despite that pleased to see my 11/10 NB and 3/1 overs double come in!

it’s been a great festive period for me so far and looking to continue that tonight

Leicester v Man City KO 7.45pm

It’s been a struggle on the road for City this season but much of that was down to the injury of key players! They are almost at full strength tonight and I’m taking them to get back to winning ways on the road with a hard fought win against a side who face their biggest test of the season! Leicester can’t win every week – they have been terrific this season but if Man City turn up ( they are due to) City will nick this

Back Man City to win 10/11 (Bet365) (NAP)

    • stubhoy 8 years ago

Greg i agree with you all the way mate but what worries me is city’s defence. And even more so the pace of Mahrez and Vardy if he plays. They are conceding goals this season and for that reason im going with you on the City win but taking BTTS along with it.
You’ve got a target to aim at now greg so lets hope you smash it all the way past 11 in a row. GL pal.

    • maccathered 8 years ago

i agree greg im on city -1 tonight leicester looked tired in their game v liverpool and without leicester having the players to rotate i reckon city could get a few.correct score 1-3

  26. GregBrowning 8 years ago

Mahommie – usually goals at the cottage with both teams scoring

Stubhoy, yeah city’s defence has been a shambles this season! Hopefully the forward 5 will do the business at the other end

    • stubhoy 8 years ago

Yeah greg the strike power city have along with attacking midfielders should bring us a couple of goals. Im thinking along the lines of 2-1 or 3-1 city for a correct score. Lets just hope the nap lands to get us off and running pal.

Mahommie im going for 2 or 3 TMG @ 1/1 Bet365 and small bet on Ross McCormack Anytime @ 13/10 also 365.
      Good luck guys

      LOST

BUT HAPPY FOR THE 2 GOALS FOR MY MAIN BET

  52. tigerman1 8 years ago

I’ve taken the mad chance and backed LEICESTER.
City is a bit inconsistent and Leicester must be stinging after the defeat to Liverpool.
    #Fingers crossed

  53. noodle dude 8 years ago

As a lifelong Leicester supporter you won’t believe how nice it is to see such discussion around Manchester City’s chances of beating us. Last season this would have been an acca booster game for many, now people are unsure whether to bet City. Beautiful!

    • luke 8 years ago

I’m cheering on Leicester mate!!!! Be nice for them to prove the doubters wrong to

    • simpledxb 8 years ago

I was laughing with a load of Foxes fans in a pub in Wigston last week just how many ‘lifelong Leicester fans’ were Man Utd fans until this season #gloryhunters ?

    • noodle dude 8 years ago

That may be true for some, but I can assure you I’ve been with them in the dark League One days and for many years before them, back to the days of Kevin Rooster Russell running around like, well, a headless rooster.

    • simpledxb 8 years ago

Wasn’t a crack at you @noodle-dude – I was joining in solidarity with those (like you) who have been there since the start – and you should enjoy these times whilst they last for as long as they last. But I appreciate how the die hard Leics fans are shunning the glory hunters :)

    • Alves 8 years ago

If Iffy starts we’ll concede thats a cert haha too many players out and missing Brown big time. Should get 3 points though

  90. simpledxb 8 years ago

@alves – I was a better candidate for MOM than Sterling and I am 3,500 miles away from where the game was being played and still looked more likely to score in the game (and did more to earn his retarded salary) than that ? Sterling. He is typical of the overrated English players of today – underperforms and remains overhyped.

At least the darts was epic… Total of £28 profit today from £800 staked across the footie, nags and darts – what was looking a cracking day fizzled out like a wet fart – but at least no loss!!

    • Alves 8 years ago

Aye from what I read Kante should got MOTM but same old crap wi BT, Rooney got it yday too. Can mind when Sanchez got a hat-trick for Arsenal and they gave ot to Walcott ?

  91. simpledxb 8 years ago

@nathanufton – great write up again on the Derby game and great shout re cards and corners markets… unlucky re result but thankfully was able to double dip on the Derby D/C when Derby went 2-1 down to effectively cover the Derby win which I think everyone was expecting..

  92. craneguy 8 years ago

simple, 3,500 miles away from Leicester are you based on the moon…………. :D :) ;)
