AFTER a quiet few days the football card sparks to life with a Boxing Day extravaganza.

It's the start of a hectic period, especially for clubs in England, and over the festive spell the advice is to bet carefully as teams are hit with game after game.

Saturday shouldn't be too bad as it's the first games and here is my SS shortlist from my first look at the coupon. I haven't checked team news but will do so tomorrow before the top tips are posted.

Let's hear your thoughts on these or any sides that are on your radar.

Super Single Shortlist

Bournemouth v C PALACE

Liverpool v LEICESTER

STOKE v Man Utd (12.45pm)

Southampton v ARSENAL (7.45pm)

Blackburn v MIDDLESBROUGH

BLACKPOOL v Oldham

Wimbledon v BRISTOL ROVERS

York v NORTHAMPTON

Dundee Utd v MOTHERWELL

ST MIRREN v Livingston

Airdrie v PETERHEAD

STIRLING v East Fife

The treble I’ve placed for boxing day are all on your shortlist, hard to pick the best bet of of the three but the treble pays a little under 12/1 at skybet

    Arsenal, Northampton & Motherwell

  2. john williams 8 years ago

Ive gone for reading, burnley, walsall&kortrijk at 127/1 for my long long shot lol

    I’m on Liverpool,
Got a feeling Leicester s bubble will burst on Boxing Day, been playing really good stuff, but liverpool will play better against a team that attach, not sit 10 men behind the ball, plus anfield will be bouncing, really good atmosphere over Christmas,

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

25179866, not sure where the confidence in Liverpool – also now without Skrtel.
Don’t think they’ve had one good Anfield display under Klopp.

    • alva glen 8 years ago

Mr Fixit,, With you if Leicester can go to Everton and take 3 off them don’t see too many probs here.Liverpool have been rotten since that League Cup win at Soton !

  4. david mcmullan 8 years ago

I agree with 25179866 on this one, I think Liverpool will be well up for it at Anfield!

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

archie, I also like Swindon, Spurs and Derby but the last two are too short to qualify for a Super Single.

    • archie 8 years ago

thinking derby and spurs as ss , just over evens.

  7. thfourteen 8 years ago

Mr F how do you factor in which teams are likely to have eaten too many pies on Christmas day?

Also known as the Tomas Brolin factor

Leicester to win at 3/1 is a steal, also on btts/win at 5/1 in a few longshots along with Mahrez anytime

    • alva glen 8 years ago

Alves defo but not sure Liverpool will even score ! Am doubling them with Stoke and its a Nap double for me.

  11. interyernan 8 years ago

Like the look of Brentford to win an btts on saturday.

  12. interyernan 8 years ago

Bury vs Barnsley also looks nailed on for goals. Over 2.5 is a decent 4/5 with 365.
Think im going to double with the brentford game.

  13. john williams 8 years ago

    Bonkers bet for me…

    Man City v SUNDERLAND
    Tottenham v NORWICH
    Sevilla v ESPANYOL

    £10 away treble returns £12,000.

Anything can happen in this season’s league. Norwich won at Old Trafford last week, Sunderland have sprung the occasional big result away at the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal before. You never know!

    Boxing day madness:

Gone for horses this year but having £4.95 on 33p 4 way accumulators from following 6 games

    CHELSEA vs watford win BTTS
    BRENTFORD vs brighton win BTTS
    liverpool vs LEICESTER win BTTS
    blackburn vs MIDDLESBROUGH win BTTS
    colchester vs SOUTHEND win BTTS
bournmouth vs CRYSTAL PALACE win BTTS

33p on each line pays around £2600

fancy the horses a lot more this year but nice to leave a finger in the pie so to speak all the best guys.

Blackpool have won their last 3 without conceding, beating Fleetwood, Wigan, & Peterborough. PP go 17/10 for them at home to Oldham who have 1 draw and 3 defeats in their last 4. That looks a good price. Motherwell at 2/1 looks a great bet, and Nap of the day is Southend at Colchester. Last 5 games the Shrimpers are 3-2-0 whilst Colchester are 0-0-5. Take the 7/5 on offer. Thats my Boxing Day Trixie.

  19. bixieupnorth 8 years ago

Leicester way way too big to ignore, I’m looking at the 3/1 coral are offering and thinking what do they know that we don’t? Liverpool ordinary at best, Leicester on fire, scoring for fun. definitely having some of that, and Leicester win/over 2.5 too.

    other night fancies
    Swindon
    Middlesborough
    Ipswich
    Northampton
    arsenal

    fiver sixfold pays £1115.

goals again in league two, been very close to both overs and btts in all games last two times out, will be doing a quid on both bets tomor and Monday

    good luck and happy Christmas!

Wolves fan here so here goes my thoughts on my team.

Why were favourites I will never know. Both wolves and reading are in indifferent form but reading did get a win last game against Blackburn.

Not sure I’d back either to win but may have a little bet on the following

Reading to come from behind and win is a ridiculous 16/1 on skybet. Wolves have lost leads in the last 3 games and in the last 2 have lost after leading. It’s worth a small stake in my opinion.

I think BTTS is a fairly likely one so for tomorrow it will be my NB

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

richb20806, I don’t fancy Wolves either but it’s one I’ve decided to leave alone.

    • richb20806 8 years ago

I’d agree with you to be fair. I’ll be having a good crack at BTTS as it’s likely and I’ll go for reading to come from behind to win as the odds are excellent for low stakes.
