MY Boxing Day picks have been selected and I’ll post the top tips later after checking team news.

But for starters I’m going with a both teams to score fourfold with the advice being to cover trebles and the fourfold.

I’m starting in the Premier League with what could be the day’s best game – Chelsea v West Ham. The Blues should edge a win here but for a match between first and fourth they should be bigger than 4-11 at Coral.

Sam Allardyce’s visitors to Stamford Bridge have been a revelation this season and while most of their wins have come at Upton Park it’s interesting to note they have scored more goals on the road (15) than at home (14).

Chelsea have kept clean sheets in their last three home league games but this will be a test against an on-form Hammers side who drew 0-0 at the Bridge last season but have the increased firepower to at least notch once.

Next I’m looking at Birmingham v Derby. The Blues are the most improved side in the Championship and again it’s amazing the effect a new boss has on the same players.

Gary Rowett has come in and done a magnificent job with City racking up four wins in five games and netting eight in their last two at St Andrews.

Derby have suffered a blip after winning just one of five and score and concede plenty. The fixture has a record of high scorers with 14 goals in the last three and both netting.

I’m staying in the Championship for my other two picks. First it’s Bournemouth v Fulham with both sides in decent scoring form. Bournemouth’s last six have seen both on target and their philosophy seems to be “you score and we’ll score more”.

Last weekend they battered Blackpool 6-1 and their last six have totalled 29 goals. I expect them to beat Fulham but Kit Symons’ side netted in all of their recent games bar a 5-0 loss to Watford when they had a man sent off in the opening minutes.

They looked good in smashing Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 last weekend and should at least hit the target at Dean Court.

Finish off the fourfold with Charlton v Cardiff which has totalled 13 goals in the last two meetings at The Valley. Cardiff’s last two matches have been 3-2 and 5-3 defeats to Brentford and Bournemouth so this could be another big total.

Charlton’s last home clash finished 2-2 with Blackpool and while they’ve not been in brilliant form in front of goal the Welsh defence will probably allow them to notch at least one.

Anyone who wants to leave out the early Chelsea game and take the later Championship treble can get just over 4-1 at Ladbrokes.

Other games I considered before settling on my four included were Preston v Barnsley, Walsall v Swindon and Forest Green v Kidderminster in the Conference.

Both teams to score

Chelsea v West Ham (12.45pm)

Birmingham v Derby (3pm)

Bournemouth v Fulham (3pm)

Charlton v Cardiff

Perm any 3 and all 4 (5 bets)

Fourfold pays 10-1 at Ladbrokes

I’m looking to do a cheeky 12 fold over 2.5 goals or both teams to score. Either way need more suggestions so please everyone feel free

      Matty, here’s a suggestion – don’t do a 12fold. Honestly, it’s too many.

  9. Stephen Head 3 years ago

That should be a good game at macclesfield as Grimsby are playing well too. Grimsby have won 5, drawn 5 and lost 2 away from home, scoring 19 and only letting 12 in.

    Rooney to score anytime 21/20

Computer says No!… Don’t listen to Prof Stephen Hawking on the dangers of AI… it may lead to the rise of the robots and the ultimate demise of the human race but I’m happy to take the bookies money following my prediction software’s top tips.

Learning from its mistakes and continually adjusting variable weights against team form stats, it seems that the home team form (Last 4) is the key in lower leagues while season stats are best considered elsewhere.

Anyhoo, both teams to score predictions at…
Leicester, Bournemouth, Watford, Preston, Scunthorpe, Exeter and Birmingham

Oh, and yes I agree it can’t account for injuries, dodgy refs and a bad day at the office, it is what it is… cold and logical but so far profitable!

Thank you mr fixx I’m only doing a cheeky fiver. I think il do 6 but please keep the suggestions coming

Not a great lover of btts coupons don’t think you get value odds to me it should be an even board a bit like roulette. Will try the one above today but taking out Chelsea and sticking in Burnley and WBA to make a 5 fold.

John Natthew, when btts was first introduced it was an even board – 5-6 yes, 5-6 no and bookies were hammered. They were going to pull the market but it was so popular they cut the prices instead. Some guys are no value but plenty of them are and prices are now based on stats.

  14. ARCHIE 3 years ago

Chelsea, brentford, Norwich, m/bro , Charlton and Oldham.
btts , hope everyone had a good Christmas , GL TO EVERYONE TODAY.

In the Irish League Linfield v Glentoran.Last game Linfield won 3-2 and it finished 1-1 the last time they met.Portadown v Glensvon is another.Last 2 derbies finished 3-2 and 4-1 and loads more goals expected.Wud even put this game over 2.5.Finally Ballymena v Coleraine.3-2 and latest game was 2-0 but with damp conditions I expect plenty of mistakes and a few goals.Good luck.
