THE Ally Pally was rocked by shocks yesterday as Simon Whitlock and Justin Pipe both suffered oche horror shows at the World Darts.
Seventh seed Whitlock was sent packing back Down Under after being humbled by Darren Webster and 17th seed Pipe’s hopes went down the drain against Laurence Ryder.
There was no such stress for Scots Gary Anderson and Robert Thornton who both made round two. Today the bad boy of darts Paul Nicholson will take his usual role of panto villian and is 4-5 to win against Dutch youngster Benito van de Pas (evs).
Dave Chisnall and James Wade are 1-12 and 1-10 to win their respective matches while Mark Webster – who finished third in 2010 – is 4-11 against 21-10 underdog Ron Meulenkamp.
It’s a super Sunday in the NFL with a dozen matches and divisional titles and play-off places still up for grabs as the season hots up.
