CHRISTMAS is just around the corner and it’s time to kick back, relax and enjoy that special festive extravaganza – the World Darts Championship at the Ally Pally.
Drunken punters in daft fancy dress, 180s, nine darters and drama galore are guaranteed at the sport’s showpiece and new sponsors William Hill are expecting to take a record-breaking £10million in bets during the course of the epic tournament that starts today and runs until January 4.
Unsurprisingly, Hills make 16-time champion Phil Taylor their 2-1 favourite to reclaim the title he last won in 2013. Michael Van Gerwen, the reigning world champion, is 11-4 to successfully defend his crown while last year’s runner-up Peter Wright is available at 40-1.
Other big contenders include Player’s Champion Gary Anderson (13-2) and the two-time world champion Adrian Lewis (12-1).
There are four matches to kick things off tonight – with Van Gerwen, fellow Dutchman Jelle Klaasen and John Part in action – and all first-round and outright odds are included below.
Today’s sporting schedule also features international Test cricket, NBA basketball and NHL ice hockey plus German Masters snooker and Australian Open tennis qualifying.
Good luck with your bets and post your sporting tips and chat here.
