Dec 17: Johnb’s Racing Tips & Chat

Racing_WilliamHill

JOHNB was left frustrated on Wednesday after his NB Forth Act was closing after jumping averagely but the winner managed to pull out a bit extra.

His Nap Welease Bwian blew the start and and had to go very wide round the last bend. He was flying home but had too much ground to make up.

So it was three points lost and December is now a 9.21pt deficit.

Johnb what did you see in Tues race with Bakpak Bansawans race on Tues?

    • Profile photo of Johnb
      Johnb 12 months ago

dougiec saw quite a lot I liked, Coto definitely handled the surface and it was a far better race than this,
Coto on Tuesday was the second lowest rated horse in the race but on Thursday Coto is only 2lb off being the highest rated horse in the race, this is a drop down to a class 6
Last year this horse was running in the group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot against horses like Tiggy Wiggy & Anthem Alexander.
Last year and this year she was running in listed races,
Coto isn’t the class of listed & group horses but she wasn’t disgraced
Even in ireland she has been running decent against better horses than we have on thursday,
A definite plus here though is the booking of Paddy Bradley claiming 7lb I would have preferred Lulu Stanford claiming 7lb but Bradley isn’t bad,
5 winners in his last 20 rides with 10 winners and 11 places from 59 rides this year

But the main point is that Coto proved on Tuesday that she does handle the surface

dougiec it is slower on the stand side rail where the high number stalls are, horses normally win up the middle of the track as it’s quicker but there is no reason a high drawn horse can’t get over to the middle

I think Kylemore Lough is the worthy favourite but no value Dunraven Storm & Solar Impulse are dangers plus the trainer has started to go struggle lately, it is a harder race with the weight increase

Lingfield result amended after photo re-examined

THE BHA has amended the result of last Saturday’s bumper at Lingfield and awarded the race to 4-1 runner-up Quarenta, trained by Jonjo O’Neill and ridden by Joshua Moore.

The decision to demote Mick Channon’s 5-2 favourite The Blue Bomber, partnered by Gavin Sheehan, was announced on Thursday morning and followed social media speculation that the judge had called the wrong result.

The 2m contest was run in gathering gloom as the final race on the card and concluded in a photo-finish between the two principals, with the third horse, Fella, six lengths back.
The judge decided The Blue Bomber had held on by the narrowest of margins, giving the winning distance as a nose.

Quarenta’s promotion will be a bitter pill for those who backed him as the original result stands for betting purposes.

In a statement, the BHA said it was urgently reviewing the quality of images produced in photo finishes, particularly in low light.

It said: “The BHA has been in discussions with racecourses, including Lingfield Park, where concerns have been held over the quality of the photo finish produced where the image is impacted by distance and deteriorating light.
These discussions are ongoing with a view to finding a reasonable solution as soon as possible.

“Additionally, the BHA will consider the processes and practices adopted by judges where the quality of the photo produced is such that it should not be relied upon alone.”

In 2013 Dave Smith lost his job as a judge for calling a dead-heat at Kempton which was later overturned.

The BHA amended the result of the 7f two-year-old maiden, giving a nose verdict in favour of even-money favourite Extra Noble. Smith’s contract was terminated with immediate effect.

Sky Bet has paid out on Quarenta, bets on the original winner, The Blue Bomber, will also stand as winners for betting purposes.

Patriotic yet another horse given far too much to do, a mile back a couple of furlongs out and finished really well,
It’s always a bad ride and poor judge of pace when a horse finishes the race reeling in horses like that,
Well done to Ali Rawlinson for a good ride

For the NAP Coto Paddy Bradley wants to get out and moved over to the centre of the track by about three & a half furlongs from home, he is a decent jockey & should know what needs to be done

  38. Profile photo of Johnb
    Johnb 12 months ago

That was actually much more impressive than it looked for Coto, the jockey has tried to get across to the middle of the track but couldn’t, he wasn’t quite on the rail but he was still on the slower ground which has probably cost the horse about 3 lengths but watch the jockey he never moved his arms but didn’t need to because of this horses class
As I said here we had a horse that ran in the Queen Mary against Anthem Alexander & Tiggy Wiggy and ran probably to a rating of 85 in that race running off 63 today with a 7lb claimer onboard

  39. Profile photo of

Cracking tip Johnb for me this is another clear example that you know and can work out your all weather form far better than National hunt have you any idea of your winner ratio ? All Weather to Jumps it must heavily favour the All Weather

    • Profile photo of Johnb

Find the all weather easier especially at Southwell if you have the horses,
It’s all about finding horses that you know will like the surface even if they have never run on it, bookies miss these horses

  42. Profile photo of Johnb
    Johnb 12 months ago

I don’t like making excuses for losers but I think anyone can see just how well Patriotic was finishing

Then we have Paddy Bradley who didn’t want to win too far but at the same time wanted to make sure of the win, he has used his whip to make sure of the win but didn’t need to get serious with her, that says Coto will be trying to follow up soon

Like your tip De Plotting Shed Johnb a’m on it earlier at 5/2 i bet it last time out in a pretty hot Irish bumper around 3 weeks ago Irish bumper form is always strong i just wish the ground was heavy at Ascot would also have been happier if Nina was on it but a suppose Barry Geraghty will do lol its being very well supported now.

JohnB- a lot of chatter online re the Greatrex runner Burlington Bert in the same race as your nap. The man himself says “Burlington Bert has been off since winning a Warwick bumper in May but the form of that race has worked out alright and this is a horse who I think has quite a bright future. He came in a bit later than many of mine but his recent work has been good, he’s done plenty and he’s in good shape for this. He is potentially one of the nicest youngsters I’ve got and I wouldn’t be running him in this if I didn’t think he was good enough to win.” Your views would be helpful, thanks.
