AFTER a difficult few days I was a Watford goal away from a full house of winners.

West Brom were a comfortable Super Single winner and my 11-5 Top Treble was Chelsea, Newcastle and Derby not to lose.

My members treble won at 13-10 and lucky member wato is £238 better off after the Day 14 Advent Calendar prize of a fourfold won – btts at Palace and Forest and wins for West Brom and Newcastle. Well done wato and enjoy the winnings.

And on top of that the Daily Double on the app also landed – Spurs -1 and Chelsea to win.

My only loser on a night where only three English games brought up btts was the goals treble that lacked a Watford consolation at Man City – and they certainly came close when trailing 1-0. Jordan also needed that Watford strike.

Greg's double was unlucky but he was spot on with the late goal at QPR as Tom Ince netted Derby's winner in 86 minutes.

It's much quieter on Thursday with Coventry v Sheffield Utd in League One and a few cup games in Europe.

While it could easily be a no-bet day after last night's wins I'm sticking up a double. Mr Orange has tipped goals at Cambuur v Ajax in the Dutch Cup and it's difficult to disagree and I'm doubling up with Sheffield Utd at Coventry in League One.

Coventry are in bad shape and after five defeats in a row it's hard to see them taking anything from the in-form Blades even if the away price is a tad short at 3-4.

Hullshaker, where are you from if you don’t mind me asking, North obviously. I had my first and hopefully last trip to Hull last week, that place is atrocious, what a dump. I hope you’re name isn’t part of your heritage I thought West End of Newcastle was bad until I saw that place. No offence ment mate, you’ve bought all my children’s christmas presents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Evening Clyde – no offence taken…whereabouts in Hull were you?

I was born in the Whalley Range area of Manchester (if you think Hull’s bad, Whalley Range/Moss Side in the 80’s made it look like dingly dell) but grew up in Radcliffe then Bury as a teenager.

Been in Hull for 15 years and I love it. Tough place but folk are good people although like all Yorkshiremen they are as tight as f*ck!

      You from Newcastle then?

Another place with good folk – though I spent a few days in Byker many moons ago and that was on top too ?

    • sean ireland 7 years ago

Ahhh good old Moss Side, born and raised there myself Hull until the age of 11 in a place called Arnesby Walk ( knocked down now ) just on the edge of Hulme.Your correct in saying its a dump, realized that when we moved to Ireland and got to see something other than grey concrete blocks of flats but have to say it may have been a dump but the people of Moss Side back then were very decent and all looked out for each other, still in contact with school friend’s from there.

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Arnesby Walk would’ve been near the notorious (and now demolished thank god) Crescents in Hulme then would it not?

We lived Demense Street in Whalley Range but move out when young to more salubrious Radcliffe ?

Looking at the odds in the Dutch cup game tonight Cambuur vs Ajax.
First up are Cambuur they may be playing in a league below Ajax but they are no stranger’s to the top flight and are steadily going about their business averaging over 2,5 goals scored per game on home soil!!!
They like goals in Dutch football as most of us know. So it is not beyond them to score against an Ajax team that played second string or youth players last time out in the cup, although they won convincingly, they did leak a goal to Kozakken Boys (who?)

H2H’s also look good here with 5/7 seeing BTTS
For a bank builder O2,5 goals looks good. 6/7 achieving this only concern is last time out a 1-0 away win to Ajax.

Now with all this in consideration I am willing to take on the 1.95 decimal @willhill for BTTS +O2,5 mgls.

The opinion of MrO would be extremely appreciated on this one to solidify my reasoning.

    GL today all.

    • mr. orange 7 years ago

You don’t know Kozakken Boys from Werkendam? :)

Ajax are going to make changes for this game, but they should win this game easily. The level between the top teams in the Eredivisie and Jupiler League clubs is huge. Jong Ajax won 1-3 at Cambuur 2 weeks ago and we may see some of the same players on the pitch tonight. These same players won at home against Panathinaikos and drew at Standard Liege in the Europe League. Ajax have a big game on Sunday against PSV, so I think a couple of youngsters will get their chance. I can see Cambuur scoring, this is their biggest game of the season, in front of a full stadium and they have a good goal scoring record at home. I can see them getting a consolation goal when Ajax have a comfortable lead.

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Cheers for that – good info.

CLUB AMERICA VS. REAL MADRID (In-play):

Wanted to see how this one panned out before betting on it and just about to start the second 45, I’m happy to have a go.

Real with the majority of play managed to net right at the end of the 1st period and in my experience, that really is a sucker punch time that can really hurt the opponent and put a bit of fire in the bellues of the team tgat scored it!

    Going with these bets:

Hi gents. No joy on the BTTS front in Manchester last night with Watford never really having a sniff. Okaka was hyped up for more action in the week, but it must have been a red herring as he wasn’t even in the squad.

No bet tonight so with some spare time I’m posting tomorrows bet.

As you know it’s Ossday so once more I’m backing goals with the team that keep on giving. Volendam probably the best side Oss have played in the last two months, so their amazing win streak could come to an end, but the goals shouldn’t stop despite Volendam being very stingy at home, conceding only 7 goals in 9 games. They have however conceded in six of the nine at home and will do well to keep out an Oss side who have scored 16 goals in their last four. Once more though they still can’t keep a clean sheet so goals should be on the cards once more, and lets hope Oss keep giving up until the 25th :)

Tom Boere continues his run of scoring in eight straight (14 goals in total) and will need to be at his best once again.

    Friday – Dutch Eerste – 7:00PM

    Volendam/Top Oss BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals @ 4/5 @ 365 – 5 points

    Tom Boere (Top Oss) Anytime @ 5/3 @ 888Sport – 1.5 points

SPARTA VS. OLYMPIAKOS PIRAEUS (1.00 KO):

Cup action here and my knowledge of domestic Greek football is probably just enough to fill the back of a postage stamp – if I used really big handwriting.

A few trawls of the internet tells me a couple of things: this is the biggest game ‘Sparti’ will play all season, they are on a decent run in the Cup and perhaps most importantly, their home form is strong having lost only 1 or 2 on their own turf since September 2015.

Olympiakos are clearly a much bigger outfit and will outclass any Greek opposition on paper but cup game mentality is universal in football and keeping the home team goal on-side brings an element of value into play.

If we assume Olympiakos will score (and they ought to with 2-0-4-4-0-1-3-1-1-3-2-4 team goals in their last 12) what are the chances of them conceding?

The answer is ‘slim but not impossible’ they do concede and Sparti will be out to put on a show against the big boys…a set piece may be the best chance and it can’t be ruled out.

Three selections – all at low stakes:

    BTTS 1st half…19/5
    ?

    BTTS 2ND HALF…9/4
    ?

    OVER 3.5 MGS…5/4

  21. carrick lad 7 years ago

Mr F – Really pleased to see your strong tip for Sheff Utd tonight. 7 up last night on an 8 line acca; a Blades win tonight brings home a 62/1 shot for a tidy 4 figure lift.
Always use this next-day strategy as Cover Bets can then be used.
Now need to gauge how much to re-bet. Draw at 14/5 and Coventry win at around 4’s – and drifting.

I”d welcome the thoughts of the Experts on here :-)

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Good luck with the Blades – I think it’s one you should be able to cover quite cheaply.

No bets from me today but I’m getting Friday’s selections up seeing as I’ve already taken the prices. Admittedly I’m asking for trouble with a few lines crossing throughout the different punts but I’m willing to take the risk.

Volendam should be looking to score a few against an Oss side that have been very popular with punters lately. We all know Oss can score plenty, but they’ve managed to concede all season, even before they begun banging them in themselves. Volendam are looking very solid in front of their home support, I was quite tempted for them to score O2.5.

Instead I’m pairing them up with Bastia and Almere. Bastia welcome Sedan who haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home all season. They sit rock bottom having conceded 18 in 8 away matches. Bastia meanwhile love a goal at home. They average 2 goals a game at home and have scored 7 in their last two. What could go wrong?

Almere visit Graafschap who have had some cracking scorelines on their home turf this season. In recent times, they include 2-3, 2-4 and 3-5 defeats. Almere are a decent outfit who have a habit of scoring on their travels. There certainly looks to be a goal on offer for them.

The bigger stake is on the first bet, then having an extra punt on the other two with similar thoughts in mind as those explained above.

    Volendam O1.5 Team Goals
    CA Bastia to Score
    Almere City to Score

    Treble @ 11/10 (Bet365)

You know something is going hideously wrong when you find your club languishing BENEATH Bury FC ?

    COVENTRY CITY VS. SHEFFIELD UNITED:

In full agreeance with Mr F on this one – Coventry’s current form is dire. It has all gone horribly wrong since mid-November, prior to that they had strung together a fairly decent amount of form.

Since then however, the wheels haven’t just fallen off – they’ve imploded; just 1 win in 6 (a Cup game) with half of those seeing 3 or more goals conceded and a third seeing 4 goals against.

Sheff Utd have wobbled slightly over the last 2 weeks but the longer term flightpath of form is solid; 7 wins in the last 10 with 2 draws and a loss. During that spell, The Blades have scored 4 or more 4 times with one of those being a 6-0 leathering of Leyton Orient.

Interestingly, they aren’t shy of a few goals on the road and have scored 4 twice and 3 once on their recent travels.

    3 selections to consider:

    SHEFF UTD OVER 1.5 TGS
    ?????

    SHEFF UTD OVER 2.5 TGS
    ???

    SHEFF UTD -1 H/CAP…9/5
    ???

    Best of luck ?

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Just seen I’ve left the prices off the 1st two when posting – OVER 1.5 TGS was 9/10 and OVER 2.5 TGS was 23/10…both have tightened up since.

Ajax line-up is full of youngsters tonight. 9 of them play for Jong Ajax every week.

  28. nathanufton 7 years ago

A few of you might of caught on that I had a peach of a treble come in yesterday. I had a £10 on Derby win/btts No @ 5/2, Chelsea win/btts No and Forest btts @ 4/5.

    Landed me £138.

I will be on the exact same bet this weekend. the iffy bit is Derby away to Fulham. Derby are 11/5 to win which considering we’ve had 7 straight wins and 5 cleansheets on the bounce I’d say that 11/5 is a big mistake for the bookies.
I’ve been doing a bit of stat trawling and IF Derby keep a 6th straight cleansheet, they’ll equal their longest cleansheet streak since the club was formed. IF we win, we’ll be 1 win away from equalling our biggest winning streak of 9 straight wins.

Derby’s price to win to nil is a massive 5/1 with bet365, Chelsea are 15/8 to win to nil, and Forest are 4/6 for the btts.

    £10 would return over £280.

Derby were a bit stuck in the mud, Fulham are I think the highest scorers in the league BUT Forest were 2nd highest and we managed to slap them down for 3 without reply. Derby do have strength in the depth of the squad and we’re getting to the point where rotation has to happen at some point, however, the gaffer is only typically changing out 1 face per match, and it keeps working. derby will be playing their 3rd match in 6 days come Saturday and Fulham will have had 1 extra days rest. I still think we’ll do the biz on them though.

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Nice write-up Nathan…that’s a big looking 5-1 for your lads to keep a clean sheet.

On the surface, it might look unreasonable to expect Fulham to not find the net in any game given their scoring record this campaign…BUT…don’t forget – Vlla, Wigan, Birmingham and Bristol City have all kept clean sheets against The Cottagers so far!

      Good luck sir ?

I’ve gone in big on Sheff Utd to win tonight, I know the price has been dropping like a stone, I got it at 4/6 but earlier it was 8/13.

Lots of places tipping them to cover a 1 or 2 handicap, but I’ve not gone that daft. However, with Billy Sharpe leading their line and he’s a boyhood blades boy, he’s loving spearheading their frontal assault, he’s got 4 goals against Coventry in the last 4 matches I think. Coventry also have their 1st choice central defenders still out injured.

    (Early) Night Owl…

Slim pickings but having mulled this one over, its worth putting up for low stakes.

ANTIGUA GFC VS. MUNICIPAL (9.30 KO):

2nd takes on 1st here and there has been a fair few H2Hs over the last 2 seasons – invariably, they are either draws and/or low scorers with the odd big win for Municipal thown in for good measure.

I can see the the former being the way here – certainly for the first half – but CSD are the top side in Guatemala and if anyone is going to take dominance, it should be them and possibly late on.

On that note of thinking, I’ll take a chance on this:

    1ST HALF DRAW 2ND HALF CSD WIN…11/2.
    ?

Prices for goals are (rightly) huge and as a form of ‘counter cover’ to the above bet, I’ll take on this as well:

    OVER 2.5 MGS…7/5
    ?

    Best of luck.

Fans spilled onto the pitch at Coventry. What happens if the games suspended?

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

If it had been suspended at 1-1 most bookies would have voided WDW bets.
Btts and Sharp to score first, etc, would have been settled.

    Kerching.

After crapping out on my bank builder down from £172 to a cashout of £32 in my bet365 acct, I lump on Partizan Belgrade -1.5 a/h – up to £62. I also took my free welcome bonus from 188bet of £30 on the straight win same match in-play – to £45.

Cued up the Sheff Utd game and got a miserly 4/6 on both sites. F&ck it, all in. Up pops Billy Sharp to start the party early. Then Coventry then pee on my fireworks with a 55th minute deflection. Lots of Sheff Utd pressure, I think the Coventry fans had a ” bring your own whistle and protest banner ” day. 87th minute fans protest and players off the pitch. I was thinking….. over 80 mins and the FA can let the score stand – its in the laws of association football. Anyway, Restart happens after 10 mins, 1st chance in this extra play-time falls to King Billy . KERCHING !!!

Pleased as punch and wondering how the hell I managed to actually end up £42 up on the day after a mid-afternoon bore draw crashed my balance by £140.

Granted, its over 2 accts, but i’ll be banking all but £10 on my 188 account ( for my new favourite treble on Saturday ) and i’ll be back bank building with my £102 bet365 acct.

Goodnight all and thankyou Coventry fans for your perfectly timed interruption. Most of us must of made something on that late winner.

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Nice one – just remember bookies don’t pay out on what goes in the laws of football.
Most would have voided the WDW bets but that’s what we would have wanted anyway at 1-1.
