AFTER two good Super Singles on Friday and Saturday I was disappointed to pick a loser on Sunday as Marseille lost at Monaco.
The Top Treble bombed and many favourites flopped and it was interesting to note the number of sides involved in midweek European action who didn’t live up to their billing. Marseille of course were rested and Moncao weren’t.
My goals treble was a Porto strike short of landing and my only real success was taking Man United to beat Liverpool.
Monday’s main game is Everton v QPR in the Premier League and I’m eyeing up the Toffees at 9-20 with bet365 as they chase the win they need.
Roberto Martinez’s men have won just once in six and sit in the bottom half of the table but he played a reserve side in midweek against Krasnodar so his players should be fresh.
QPR have won two of their last six but are crucially without top scorer Charlie Austin who is banned after being sent off against Burnley and it’s tough to see where the goals will come from.
Harry Redknapp’s men have lost all seven away from home, scoring just two goals, so the value bet – even though it’s always a dangerous one – could be Everton to win to nil at 29-20 with McBookie and BetVictor.
Last night I said that was a potential Super Single and I’ve decided to go for it. This bet isn’t for everyone and I’m not a massive fan either as it’s an easy one to cover and could crash and burn early on. However, without Austin there’s everyone chance of an Evertone clean sheet – if you don’t agree don’t back it.
In Italy it’s Empoli v Torino and Chievo v Inter Milan and Deportivo entertain Elche in La Liga while in French Ligue 2 Troyes take on Nimes.
Torino have won just three of their opening 14 league games and collected just two points since their last win against Parma at the end of October but are boosted by last week’s 5-1 Europa League win away to a weakened Copenhagen.
Empoli, who won promotion to Italy’s top flight in the summer, head into the match at the Carlo Castellani stadium in buoyant mood after a draw away to Napoli extended their unbeaten run to four games. A price of 29-20 at BetVictor makes Empoli tempting too.
Inter boss Roberto Mancini rested players in Thursday’s goalless draw with Karabakh in Azerbaijan so there should be no worries about tiredness.
His side haven’t won in Serie A since October 29 and followed their 4-2 defeat at Roma with a 2-1 home loss against Udinese last weekend.
No side in the top ten in the league has conceded more goals than Inter who have given away 21 in 14 league games so over 2.5 goals has a chance here.
Chievo’s 2-0 victory at Cagliari last weekend extended their unbeaten run to five and lifted them clear of the drop zone but coach Rolando Maran will be without defenders Nicholas Frey and Ervin Zukanovic who are both suspended.
Troyes can go second with a win and are 11-20 at McBookie and BetVictor to beat a side with a few problems on and off the pitch.
I like Everton, Empoli and Troyes and don’t think Chievo will lose to Inter but the only either bet I’m putting up is a Daily Double at just over 1-1 on Everton and Empoli double chance (not to lose).
It’s a day for low stakes and good luck to anyone having a bet. Instead of 5pts for the SS I’d advise 2.5 plus 2.5 on the double. I’m away all afternoon at the first of four Christmas dos this week – so it’s definitely no turkey and let’s hope Everton are no turkeys either. I’ll check in early evening.
