WHEN does an ODI become a TDI? When England bring the weather with them and the day's action is a washout.

That was the state of play on Wednesday as the fifth clash with Sri Lanka in Pallekele was halted due to torrential rain after the hosts had been bowled out for 239. Alastair Cook and Co will resume today chasing the 240 target from 50 overs and are evens to achieve it while the Sri Lankans are 11-13 to bag the win needed to clinch series victory.

The soggy pitch is likely to suit the hosts' spinners and for top Sri Lankan bowler it's Ajantha Mendis 3-1, Sachithra Senanayake 7-2, Dhammika Prasad 4s and Thisara Perera 5s.

The Alfred Dunhill Championship golf tees off today and it's no surprise to see Charl Schwartzel favourite. He's won the event the last two years on the bounce and is 7-1 to complete the hat-trick in his South African homeland on a course he loves.

Countryman Louis Oosthuizen is at 17-2 and England's Danny Willett – who won the Nedbank Challenge in South Africa last week – is third favourite at 10s.

In the Thailand Championship Sergio Garcia tops the betting at 5-1 with Bubba Watson 7s and Victor Dubuisson 9s.

In the NFL it's St Louis Rams v Arizona Cardinals and there's games in the NBA and NHL as well as the likes of Champions Trophy hockey and ITF and IPL tennis.

    Thursday Night Football

Arizona Cardinal @ St Louis Rams

Only one bet that I’m taking tonight I think.

Jared Cook (St Louis) over 40.5 receiving yards @ 10/11 @ Ladbrokes

Cook had four catches on five targets for 61 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday’s 24-0 win over Washington.

Ranking 2nd in the Rams receiving offense in yards behind WR Kenny Britt (542-534) Cook leads in targets, receptions, yards after catch and first downs.

The Cardinals have given the most yards to TE’s through the season (875) and rank 27th against the pass. Rams not the most offensively strong team in the world but I’m not buying the Cards 10-3 record although I probably should.

Rams coming off of two straight shut outs against the Raiders and in Washington but this will be a tougher test. Almost skipped this game altogether so I’m keeping stakes low and I’ll see what others post throughout the day.

    TNF…

Hard game to call today as Jordan has mentioned. I expect a few sacks and interceptions although b365 are only giving over 5.5 sacks which is a bit too high for me to back and I can’t find an interception market. Fancy Larry Fitzgerald to score a TD anytime at 17/10. Also, liking Tavon Austin over 26.5 receiving yards at 4/5… 2 receptions could take him past this mark. I think there will be a lot of field goals in this game as the defenses will be on top so you can get both teams kickers to go over on points scored at 10/13, their lines are 6.5 and 7.5 respectively which would take two FGs and a TD conversion or two. With this in mind over 3.5 field goals is at 5/4 and over 4.5 is at 11/4 which I like a lot.

    What’s everyone’s thoughts? Jordan?

Jell I do like the over 3.5 field goal market, just not overly sure about this game. Don’t know too much about either side. Drew Stanton and Larry Fitz are listed as Probable. Fitz with a knee injury but should play, but a knee injury is always suspect. Stanton with an ankle injury. Rams use so many different options it’s hard to know which back they’ll use most or if they’ll receive more than rush which is why I’ve gone for the big TE. Best seeing what the chief, Lee and others pick.

    Anybody hear betting on NHL?

    Cardinals at Rams

So this one opened 3 and now it is 4.5. The public are driving this move up and there are several reasons…

The Rams have just done something good and then they just did it again. They shut-out two really good teams but there must be some recency bias effecting the price because of that. This line was available at 2.5 before last week’s games and I’m not sure beating the Redskins easily really taught us THAT much more than we learned when they beat the Raiders easily the week before.

The Cardinals are a December road dog and these only win 45% of the time Against The Spread since 2007.

The Cardinals lost their QB and since then they have been struggling and have lost two road games scoring 3 and 18 and scored just 14 and 17 in their home victories.

Despite some great wins the Rams are still just 7-6 ATS this season and they are 3-3 ATS at home. Looking for a bigger sample we can see they are 5-4 ATS as a favourite since the start of 2012 and 9-7 ATS in divisional games like this and 12-9 ATS at home in that time. The Cardinals are 9-4 ATS this year, they are only 3-3 ATS on the road though but they are 5-2 ATS as a dog. Since 2012 they are 27-17-1 ATS in all games, they are 18-9 ATS as a dog and they are 13-8-1 ATS on the road. They are also 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings between these two.

Basically I would expect the Cardinals to try and get the run going with their three running backs (main guy Andre Ellington is injured). The Rams are pretty decent against the run 10th both in opposition rushes per game and opposition rushing yards per game, and it might be tough for them, but without a duel threat it may be a long night for QB Drew Stanton as the Rams have managed 13 sacks in the last two weeks. The Rams have also done really well at keeping people out of the red zone so it does seem hard for the Cardinals to score.

I don’t really like the Rams scoring much either though. They face a Cardinals rush defence who is 6th in yards conceded per run, 5th in opponents rushes per game and 6th in rushing yards conceded per game…they give up less than 100 on average. The Rams may be forced to try and open up the passing game against them but the Rams really don’t have much of a passing game.

Although the total is low at 40.5 the game does look set up for UNDER and the half a point tempts me. The Rams are 7-6 to OVER this year but they are 21-5-1 to UNDER in December over a decent sample. The Cardinals are 8-4-1 to UNDER this year and 3-2-1 to UNDER on the road. They are 2-1 to UNDER in their divisional games and 5-1-1 to UNDER in games where they are a dog. The last 13 meetings between these two are 9-4 to the UNDER.

I can see both teams being pretty conservative here, particularly the Cardinals who still have a lot to play for and it’s easy to see this being a total snoozefest.

I’m having 16 Points UNDER 40.5 St Louis vs Arizona at 10/11 easily available. (Matchbook are even money (2.00

    Nfl Thursday night football

This is st Louis game to win tonight but gutted as sky bet had best price -4.5 but it’s best price -5.5 now bit still having some cash on that. Shawn hill looked good these last couple weeks and with the densive injuries arizona have suffered it should be a decent outing for the likes of britt, bailey and cook. Jordan your bet on Jared cook is a great shout, look back over the season and arizona have really struggled to contain tight ends all season so there will be plenty of dump offs heading his way tonight or 2moro if u wanna be pedantic. Tre mason should also have decent outing I am still grinning at having him in my fantasy team when he ran up and down field all night against oakland. Arizona have been good against the run but injuries have taken their toll and they giving up 4.7 yards per carry now as opposed to 3.7 earlier in season. I could easily back a whole host of rams receivers to score anytime who are all good value at odds against but going limit it to a couple of bets. Incidentally Larry Fitz is due to return for arizona and I’d love to take him anytime but even if he is fit and open no doubt stanton will overthrow him by 50 yards and get a pick 6.

    Tips
St Louis -4.5 10/11 sky bet
    Mason wincast 15/8
    Jared cook anytime 9/4

Smaller bet tre mason first scorer enhanced to 9/1 at Ladbroke

Hi huggybear, have u any thoughts on the overs for the kings game can you user it over 197?

    • huggybear 9 years ago

mate it`s gonna go close , but i`m taking a chance on thunder -4.5 , just think home advantage could get em there.

if pushed i`d get guess at a touch over maybe 204 , but its not for my money , not easy with two games.

going small as tomorrow i can see celtics seeing off knicks , grizzlies beating hornets , spurs beating lakers .. so i`ll go bigger tomorrow.

      good luck

  11. supersaint 9 years ago

Tough weekend in the nfl I feel, as there are many divisional matches being played.

However, the GREEN BAY PACKERS @ Buffalo are only -4, -4.5 to cover with many bookies.

NEW ENGLAND @ Home to Miami are only -7.5. With a chance to win the AFC East.

These are the hottest teams in football atm and genuine super bowl contenders.

Spread double with Paddy Power pays @ 4

Safer money line double, Coral @ 1.89

  12. Jordan 9 years ago

Hahahahaha just read your Stanton pick 6 comment Lee! Good luck mate but I’m keeping it to the Cook yards and that will do me for tonight. Bigger fish to fry on Sunday!

Supersaint Packers might have a low spread but Buffalo are no slouches, keeping it to a TD in Denver last week. Green Bay game would be a no bet for me as even the Falcons kept it closer than many expected in the Lambeau. Lee will tell you that his mighty Viks kept it close too. My SS has to be the points in Steelers/Falcons game. If the line was 80 I’d probably still back over (I wouldn’t but it should have been 55 to start).

  13. honda 9 years ago

49ers under 14 points am tellin ya fellas lol Nah seriously though dont back it never unless you really feel it back unders! But that offence on recent form, against that D on recent form….. I give them 3 Field goals and done haha hope you all doin well people peace and love

  14. Jordan 9 years ago

I’m also refreshing oddschecker every 10 minutes to check if they have Le’Veon Bells rush & rec yards up yet too. I’ll back the boy until he goes under!

Arizona Cardinals at St Louis Rams 1:25am

Tre Mason to score anytime 11/10 Bet365

  16. Jordan 9 years ago

Not touching the Spread honda but Hawks alternate handicap will be going on my slips this weekend. Peace and love!

  17. honda 9 years ago

If 49ers score over 14 points against us then I’m gonna do some crazy half naked dance in the rain, and no one wants to see that haha. Nah I’ve had my eye on it since initial prices came out and 49ers under 14 team points is evens, so i might just chuck a tenner on lol I’m not sure if we will cover the spread cos we aint flyin offensively, but in my opinion 49ers suck goin forward and our D currently rocks 1 TD in the last 3 games.

  18. Jell 9 years ago

Going to go for the field goals tonight…

    OVER 4.5 @ 5/2

Only thing with a decent bit of value in my opinion, over 3.5 can be taken at 11/10 also.

    Good luck!

  19. leecunliffe 9 years ago

Jordan when we played detroit earlier in season they smashed us but our pass rush has got lot better then again they didn’t have megatron first game. We are lot better than last game and listened to coach zimmer talk for 20 mins in his press conference after and he was encouraging how he talked about not thinking of next year and watched his post game interview prior to the weeks game talking bout winning week to week where he sounded disappointed about how we played despite the win
Teddy gave great press conference covering similar points but detroit defence will force us into lot of checkpoint and without a running game to speak of it fear detroit may cover handicap. Not many secondary can cover megatron and doubt we will mate so am not touching us. Life on line I’d back detroit to cover handicap

  20. leecunliffe 9 years ago

Honda my brother is a 49ers fan and quicker he can ship harbaugh out the better. Seems like he isn’t interested anymore and the way they seem to not want to run the ball is crazy. Frank gore will leave in off season but if they give him the ball he will make life much easier for kapernick but for some reason they won’t run. I tipped oakland to cover last week as they hate eachother but this is division battle and 49ers will be up for the game or they’re going home.

  21. Attila 9 years ago

    I’ve gone treble of Cavs +4.5, Rockets WIN & Rams/Cardinals UNDER 40.5 @ odds of $7.00 (6/1).

  22. Jordan 9 years ago

Lee thanks for that insight but I meant you kept it close with the Packers as Supersaint was tipping the Packers to beat the Bills hahaha

On the Seattle game, 49ers can bring whoever they like, they will leave Seattle with less than 15 points. I’ve backed the Niners a few times in the past couple weeks and they’ve sucked each time! Most overrated QB in the NFL is Kaepernick I fully 100% believe that. Sherman got to his head last time and it’ll be even worse in Seattle. Seattle defensive special teams TD perhaps :)

  27. Jordan 9 years ago

Don’t waste money on NBA anymore but well done huggy.

  28. Jordan 9 years ago

5 field goals. Nice winner Jell! Arizona 12-3 in the 4th quarter. Worst game I’ve ever seen haha

  29. Jordan 9 years ago

FFS Cook has had two receptions pulled back for penalties and he’d be on 39 yards.

  30. Jordan 9 years ago

6 field goals! 12-6 Arizona with 6 minutes to play.

  31. Jordan 9 years ago

Game over. 12-6 Arizona. And I stayed up for that…

Great shout on the field goals Jell. Don’t suppose you saw what 5.5 were?

Jared Cook over 40.5 receiving yards @ 10/11 **LOSE** 22. Would have had it in the 4th quarter if he wasn’t called for pass interference. Darn. Onto Sunday.

  32. Jordan 9 years ago

It’s already gone up a yard so I’m putting my Sunday NB for the early games up.

    Steelers/Falcons Longest TD over 45.5 @ 5/6 @ 3 6 5

    Big Ben vs Matt Ryan
    Antonio Brown vs Julio Jones
Le’Veon Bell vs The whole damn Falcons D

  33. Jell 9 years ago

Going to go for the field goals tonight…

    OVER 4.5 @ 5/2 *Won*

  34. Jell 9 years ago

Cheers Jordan! B365 weren’t giving odds on 5.5… probably would have gone for a little bit on it if they had of! So glad I decided to go to bed instead of watch that game though! Did you get on the field goals?

    SUPER NAP SUNDAY NFL

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Atlanta Falcons 6:00PM

Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) over 270.5 passing yards @ 10/11 @ Skybet

I was waiting for this to come up and was expecting over 300.
Big Ben has the second most passing yards in the NFL and averages 312 yards per game. Atlanta rank last against the pass and receiving yards per game, where as the Steelers rank second in both pass and receiving offense. I tipped as my 100% stake prop bet for Aaron Rodgers to throw over his total on MNF which he did. Rodgers who is on course for the MVP is only ranked 7th in passing yards per game. This game will be played in Atlanta’ Georgia dome so no wind involved. Pass galore for both sides with Atlanta also ranked 5th in passing and receiving offense with Matt Ryan teaming up with Julio Jones for a massive 259 yards on Monday night at the Lambeau. Jones listed as questionable with a hip injury but we’re only looking at Big Ben here.
