THE countdown is on to the Boxing Day action and Johnb has posted a total of 9pts worth of tips.
He’s posted a write-up on the King George VI Chase and strongly fancies Silviniaco Conti while Ttebobb is a confident pick in the Racing Post Novice Chase.
December is a 12.21pts loss but is hoping to wipe it out with a festive cracker.
Johnb’s Boxing Day Tips

Johnb says: “There is no UK racing until Boxing Day but I’m advising you punt Ttebbob on Wednesday and Thursday. Ttebbob runs on Boxing Day and the fact we will have 4 points on him shows how much I fancy this horse and have tipped him now to guarantee a price.
“I have now advised nine points altogether but that’s split over four days of tips, Wednesday to Saturday. I have posted reasoning for Ttebbob below. I am just as excited about this horse as I am about Thistlecrack.”
Johnb says: “I have been asked on here what I think I am better at, jumps or flat. People have their own opinions and I would say flat racing but what people should take note from me is my ability to spot talent from an early stage of a horse’s career.
This comes from watching races and being able to see what others can’t. Antepost tips like Taghrooda 33-1 for the2014 Oaks, Golden Horn 33-1 for the 2015 Derby. I even mentioned Gleneagles at 25-1 for this year’s 2000 Guineas although I didn’t advise the bet.
Thistlecrack 20-1 for the 2016 World Hurdle, he hasn’t won yet but I think everyone now sees what I saw earlier and he is now 11-4.
My latest up and coming talent is Ttebbob who I have advised as a double stake for Wednesday and Thursday so that’s four points which after two years on here is the first time I have done that.
Douvan, the 4-9 favourite, has shown what a great horse he is over hurdles and his chasing debutant Navan was impressive even if it wasn’t a strong race but was never off the bridle.
His problem that I see is he gets too close to his fences which means he isn’t jumping them as quick but he makes up for that between the fences on the flat.
On to Ttebbob, I have been ultra impressed with this horse in his two Chase races. I have mentioned before about certain horses that are outstanding jumpers but believe me when I say none of them are close to Ttebob.
Ttebbob is by far a quicker and better jumper than Douvan, he springs away from the fence when he lands and he is quick between the fences.
This horse has such a high cruising speed it’s scary. When horses win on the bridle it’s hard to judge how good it is which is why times are important.
Douvan & Ttebbob both ran at Navan last time out over the same distance. Both horses won on the bridle, Douvan won by 9.5 lengths while Ttebbob won by 41 lengths.
That doesn’t tell us a lot but looking at the times – Ttebbob was 2.9 seconds quicker than Douvan. Now that would be OK but we all know you get different ground conditions on the turf.
If I was to tell you Douvan ran on soft ground and Ttebbob ran on soft to heavy ground then that 2.9 seconds is now massive.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Sizing John got the better of Douvan for second but in my eyes there is only one winner.
