AFTER a Europa League horror night it was back to business on Friday and it was great to see so many people put up winning tips.
I restricted myself to a Daily Double of Anderlecht and Longford which paid 23-20 and was left kicking myself when I decided not to put up Dundalk as the Super Single.
There's a packed card on Saturday and I've focused on the Scottish League Cup for my Daily Record column while Celtic travel to Helsinki for a friendly with Spurs with just two first-team players and No.2 John Collins taking charge as boss Ronny Deila stays at home to plot a Champions League escape route.
I tipped Spurs at 5-6 at Coral and Ladbrokes in Saturday's Record but that price has long gone. I also have to fancy a decent Derby side to beat Rangers even though the Ibrox side have sold out their allocation of 8500 tickets. I don't like betting on friendlies but Spurs and Derby look a decent double at 7-4 with Ladbrokes.
Many European leagues around the continent have kicked off – the likes of Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia and Romania but none of the big ones.
However, today PSG and Guingamp will battle it out for the French Super Cup in Beijing. All 66,000 tickets for the match have been sold and the Chinese fans expect goals and entertainment from sides being paid lucratively to attend.
PSG should oblige having warmed up with a 6-2 win at Hong Kong champions Kitchee. Zlatan Ibrahimovic thrilled fans with a hat-trick and the super Swede will be the focus of attention today.
I’ll be on him to break the deadlock at 11-5 with Paddy Power. PSG lost 1-0 against Guingamp in the League Cup Final and should gain revenge against a side who haven’t had much time to adjust to conditions in the Far East. The French champs are a best 2-5 at bet365 to win and with goals demanded consider over 3.5 at 21-10 (sportingbet).

Vila Nova sit bottom of the domestic league with only 5 points from 13 games so far. They have conceded in all but 1 of their homes games so far this season (10 in total) so there’s a good chance they will concede here. Atletico GO are mid-table but have only won 1 of their last 5 away and conceded in 4 of those. H2H matches all point towards an Atletco win but Vila Nova won their last home match v Santa Cruz so will sure to be going into this game with a bit more confidence. Again I think BTTS is a fair bet for this match.

Philadelphia goal before 72 minutes 5/6 Casey/Le Toux anytime scorers 3/1 & 10/3 (split stake) main bets. Casey first TEAM goal 15/4 & Dwyer first TEAM goal 13/8 smaller bets.
Split stake- basically with the prices being like they were for Casey & Le Toux I split my usual stake for an anytime scorer and put 50% Casey & 50% Le Toux. Even if only one scores I will still see profit (not as much but obviously a better chance with two) and if they both lose I will just lose like usual! Haha. Basically I couldn’t pick one out if the two!

We signed Adam rooney and andrew shinnie from Inverness over the last few years who were allegedly their best players at the time and my god how they struggled in the championship! Wolves play Celta vigo who were in a four goal match with norwich yesterday. Wolves have had a few days rest and this will be there last friendly match before the season kicks off for their first game in the championship.
They have won five and drawn one so far in their pre-season tour. Granted the spanish side will be their toughest test so far pre-season. However I believe we will have enough to win this, coach Jackett has indicated he will put out a strong side and he had also stated he wants to finish the pre season in style and on a postive note…coupled with the fact they will play at molinuex. I think wolves at 5/4 represent good value.

Wet morning in Wolverhampton has deterred me from going to this InterYerNan. Spending my money on a few bets instead.
I’ve read that Celta have taken a huge squad for a tour of the UK where I believe they play Burnley and Everton over the course of the week as well.
I’m guessing they will put out a mixed side with maybe more fringe players. I recall Betis doing the same last year. I remember it being a high scoring draw but we should have won the game.

also, point to note on this game, as george thorne ( our midfielder who sits between the back 4 and our creative midfield threat ) is injured, it sort of looks lik a straight 433 foramation-business as usual – set up for goals. There is a downside to this : With Hughes/Hendrick and Bryson all being attack minded, this could cause us a problem as we could be left exposed. Both to score would be quite a safe bet too which would in theory help along the over 2.5 goals in the game. The corners thingy, i’m bolting that on because last season we were among the highest corners per game all season home and away.

In Glasgow they have been excellent Chief but through in the East not too much interest in general. When you see Kylie Minogue and Lulu on a closing ceremony you can appreciate why we really do not take a huge amount of interest outside athletics and boxing with East Coast participants. Their could be more goals in the international champions cup, Man City have conceded in every one of their pre-season games so far, while Olympiakos have one win and one loss so far, scoring three times against AC Milan. Both teams to score is 20/23 Boylesport.
My main bet however is in the goal scorer market, and if he starts the player I want to be on here is Stevan Jovetic. He came for big money but was injured for the most part of last season. He has scored twice against AC Milan and twice against Liverpool. The 6/4 anytime looks great value to me. Jovetic is 8/1 Bet365 to score another brace and given his form I will have a small bet on this. He is as small as 10/3 at Betvictor, so the 8/1 could prove generous.

Conlon, tried to fight tactically to protect a previous eye injury. Not his style at all. Once his eye cut opened up the bookies dropped his odds from 2-7 out to 3/1. Anyone who has ever seen him fight knows that he is a gritty street fighter type. He changed back to his normal attacking style and easily won the last round & the Gold medal.
Had his eye injury not reopened he would have lost as he is not a defensively minded boxer.
Raal has a frightening boxing knowledge for assessing boxers before fights. E.G. Joshua fight which I won big on due to his tip. But once a fight starts especially 3/4 rounders then intuition has to play a part and gut feeling.

Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Norton, Holmes all exceptional Heavyweights who deserve the word ‘great’. Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Benn, Eubank, Camacho, Chavez, De La Hoya, Buchanan, Hopkins, Mayweather, McGuigan, Pacquaio just off the top of my head are all guys who I would genuinely call true fighters and would have paid to watch any and all of them. One great who stayed amateur but still in my opinion was a legend was Teofilo Stevenson, probably the greatest fighter ever to come out of Cuba a country which has produced some incredible amateur fighters and a man who won 3 Olympic Gold Medals, something virtually unheard off.
Raal-Am I really seeing that you left out Tyson from that list. With out doubt the most frightening heavyweight in my opinion. I’m not sure if any of the others that you mention would have been able to live with a 19 year old Tyson in his pomp. Just my view of course.

Raal had said to me that he shied away from tipping in the boxing as the judging was difficult to gauge and at time difficult to make sense of. Over all I think the boxing has been a great success.
Blancos, amateur bouts over 3 rounds can be so fast and furious it becomes near impossible for the naked eye to gauge punches landed etc. Brilliant to watch but a minefield to bet on. I backed Josh Taylor simply because I know his style is so fast and accurate that even he could lose a round but still be awarded it.

Jack Fenn, Rooney must be the only Utd player ever to threaten to leave over wages and get a new contract under Fergie that is. This sort of thing sickens me but to do it again under Moyes, when Rooneys form was dire just shows utter petulance and sickening greed.

Cooldude- spot on mate. Van Gaal does seem to have something of an aura about him. He also has the respect in football worldwide. He’s tactically astute but not worried about making bold decisions. He’s actually quite a likeable guy and seems to bring the best out of players. I will be interested to see who he does ship out before the transfer window closes, I’m sure there will be a few, I think there could some hope for Cleverly.
Man utd are a team I will be watching closely next season, they could be a dangerous team.
Few points. Cooldude, spot on mate, I can’t understand it for the life of me, Fergie was never like that. Under Moyes they say United needed him, but Mata, Kagawa and even Januzaj all prefer to play number 10. His new contract is 90 million over 5 years…sell him for 20 even…you then have the 100 million which is the same money to buy both Khedira and Hummels and pay them 100 grand each for 5 years. Play Mata/Kagawa at number 10 and it makes zero difference to your finances as a team.
Shaun-certainly hope for Cleverly will improve every year but for Ferguson to compare him to Thiago Alcantara in his book is a joke. I think United will finish top 4 this season, but they won’t get close to the title, I like van Gaal’s style and its exactly what they need.
Jack Fenn, Ive yet to read Fergies book. Jack, why in Gods name did Fergie of all people give Rooney his cake at that time if he thought that the team is the most important?
Lets just hope Van Gaal will not be so soft with players looking for rises.
There’s no chance of Rooney being sold. Fergies comments on Tom Cleverly were largely based on his performances in youth ranks correct me if Im wrong.
If I was the man in charge of that team right now the only players I would consider selling is Fellaini, Anderson and Wellbeck.
Though he scored today vs WBA so wouldn’t rule it out!

Unfortunately Jack it’s more brand Rooney they are paying for, not player Rooney.
I get that Shaun, but for me they always like to point out managerial stability and how no player is bigger than the club, but this is the second time Rooney asked to leave publicly and they gave in. For me, great player, but to be in the top 5 (I believe?) top paid players in the world he has to play basically every game and score/assist 1 per game. But I see the sponsorship value may outweigh this, just retracts from the first point.
