FOR the second successive Saturday I made Dunfermline my Super Single and once again they went goal crazy.
That 4pt winner was the highlight for me but not far behind was a homes fivefold – even if it didn't quite trap. I was waiting on Chelsea for a 9-1 shot and advised a 1pt partial cover on Swansea not to lose at 6-1 when the Blues were leading.
Thibaut Courtois' sending-off that led to Swansea's equaliser gave me a 9-1 loser and a 6-1 winner – and that's why it's always important to look at cover or cash-out options.
While Hibs beat the Top Treble and Spurs' failure to net at Man Utd downed the both to score treble it was another decent day.
I flagged up Dunfermline a few days ago and not surprisingly they were the choice of many. They started out at 23-20 and eventually went off at under evens which shows the weight of money on them. They're at home to Cowdenbeath next weekend – a team they beat 5-1 last week – so watch out for the early show if prices.
There's a lot to look at on Sunday including Arsenal v West Ham, Newcastle v Southampton and Stoke v Liverpool in the Premier League and Partick Thistle v Celtic in the Scottish Premiership as well as Preston v Middlesbrough in the English Championship.
Arsenal and Celtic should be fairly safe bets although the fact Celtic played in the Champions League in Azerbaijan last week has to be taken into account. Celtic are without banned Nadir Ciftci but Leigh Griffiths and Nir Bitton have made the starting line-up after doubts and I'm on the Scotland striker to score first at 7-2 with William Hill and anytime at 1-1 with Betfred.
It could be another game to take a gamble on Dedryck Boyata to grab his third goal of the season. The big defender is 28-1 at Coral to break the deadlock.
A treble on Aberdeen, Celtic and Arsenal pays 6-4 with Ladbrokes and should come in as long as the Dons and Celts don't have a reaction to their Euro adventures. I'm more confident about it having seen the Celtic line-up and that's the Top Treble sorted out.
West Ham have no such worries having left most of their stars out for their loss in Romania against Astra but I don't fancy their chances against a Gunners side who warmed up nicely with their Community Shield win against Chelsea.
Arsenal are 3-10 at Ladbrokes and I quite like the Gunners -1 at 5-6 with bet365.
Stoke hammered Liverpool 6-1 on the final day last season and have a good record against the Reds while new-look Newcastle, under Steve McClaren, will be hoping to get off to a good start at home to Southampton who looked good as they won both legs of their Europa League opener against Vitesse.
Mark Hughes's men will have backers at 5-2 but I'm not sure what we'll get from a new-look Liverpool led by Christian Benteke who is 11-2 at William Hill to score first. If I was having a bet it could be on Stoke draw no bet at 11-8 with Ladbrokes and that's one Super Single sorted with Griffiths to score another.
There are plenty of other games to look at on the Continent including French, Dutch and Belgian league matches and loads in Scandinavia.
For now I'm offering up a goals double with both to score at Newcastle v Southampton and over 2.5 goals at AZ v Ajax.
Newcastle have to be better than last season and even when they were poor they usually scored – and remember the late goals provided for Greg Browning and others – while Saints impressed in their two Europa League matches with Vitesse. Both have netted in the last three meetings at St James's.
Four out of six of the past AZ-Ajax meetings have seen over 2.5 goals and five have brought up both to score. The way Ajax defended as they crashed out of the Champions League conceding five goals to Rapid Vienna suggests this should be another high scorer.
I've put up two Super Singles and also fancy my Championship antepost tips Middlesbrough but Preston are decent at Deepdale and again best bet with this one could be both to score.

St Johnstone was the only poor result / so no, not all Scottish teams were eliminated by “poor” sides
Greg, how do you think Astra and Almaty will do in the group stages?
My guess is neither of them will make it there, i don’t accept either are good teams, neither have any european pedigree and both play in poor leagues.
As a Celtic fan i would love the other Scottish sides to do a bit better to help our co-efficient, it’s embarrassing we are regularly competing with the big boys after Christmas and rest of the teams are out of Europe before the season has even started.
I’m hopeful with Hearts back in the league this year and Rangers next year that Celtic might start getting a little bit of competition again and we might even see 2 or 3 Scottish sides back in the group stages of Europe which we all want to see.

archie, Aberdeen should be OK. You say they have been struggling for goals but scored seven in their last two Europa League rounds then beat Dundee Utd after returning from Kazakhstan.
Archie wouldn’t say we’re struggling to score at the moment. Played 6 games in Europe only failing to score in one and scoring 8. Played one league game winning 1-0. Biggest problem today will be if Killie come and park the bus. We’re a better team playing on the counter.

Just looking at Keflavik’s home record and they have yet to keep a clean sheet in seven home games and have at least scored one goal in each of those seven home games. However the away side,Fjolnir, are fifth in the league and eighteen points in front of Keflavik,who sit bottom of the league, but Fjolnir have kept only one clean sheet on their seven away games scoring ten goals and conceding fourteen. After a bad weekend I played it safe with over 1.5 team goals instead of -1 on LA, there’s still more goals in this though I reckon. Also had LA double with Villa to score later so here’s hoping. 4-1 was 16/1 at half time, could have been a very good bet in hindsight!

Good luck for everyone on the New York Derby tonight – the consensus seems to be goals and I won’t argue with that.
After a comment I made last night about the regularity of penalties in the MLS, combined with the fact this is a derby match I’m adding in one extra bet tonight.
A penalty to be taken – 26/10 @ betfair.
I think this has a reasonable chance of coming in as hopefully passions will be high and we know how the MLS love a penalty.
As far as I can see 3 or 4/1 for NYC is too big? They’ve been getting some decent results but maybe it’s just because Lampard and Villa are 2 of my favourite footballers of all time and I’m biased…
