MONDAY was fairly quiet and my only bet was a loser as Cork went down to Sligo at home.
Greg Browning had a better night with his Djurgarden nap landing as well as some of his early goals bets.
There wasn't much I fancied last night but I decided to have a bet partly because at the moment I'm playing with winnings.
Tuesday's all about the League Cup north and south of the border. I'll study the English games in the morning but we all know these ties are a minefield at this stage with goals the better way to go.
There are also National League matches and cup games across Europe for those feeling brave.
And Real Madrid meet Sevilla again in the Super Cup in Norway and I expect them to win but they're without the likes of Ronald, Bale, Kroos, Pepe and Navas. Sevilla's squad is much changed and they have a new boss in Chilean Jorge Sampaoli, I'm tempted by Real and both to score as there should be goals.
In Scotland there are five Betfred Cup ties including Rangers v Peterhead and I've posted a separate preview and put up other top tips and in the morning.
For now one Super Single is Alloa draw no bet at 13-5 at home to Inverness with reasoning on the preview thread.
My Top Treble is also on the Betfred Cup with Alloa to score, Rangers -1 and Hibs to score 2+.
The goals treble is based on stats and h2h but not team news – although Dundee Utd and Partick Thistle will go full strength – so be aware of that.
As far as WDW in the EFL Cup goes I'd advise anyone to wait for teams. MK Dons have confirmed they'll play kids and Birmingham will be seriously weakened too – but they won't be the only ones.
If anyone hear of other sides who should be avoided put them up here. Teams that could be backable include Fulham at Orient, Gillingham at Southend, Derby at home to Grimsby and Rotherham v Morecambe.

Sheffield weds turn out again 48 hours after beating Aston nilla (couldn’t resist that one) , away to Cambridge.
Interesting to see how many players turn out again.
Could this be a shock result ???.

Orient v fulham sounds like a Btts game.
Blackpool and Bolton both won on Saturday albeit in different leagues so this Derby could see Btts also.
Accrington are decent at home and Bradford like a cup run, so Btts for me here.

    Btts odds
    Orient 4-6
    Blackpool 8-11
    Accrington 4-5
Won’t back them without team news though, so it will be a late decision to be made.

Early pick for tomorrow’s Cup games:

    CAMBRIDGE UTD v SHEFFIELD WEDS:

Cambridge drew their opener and evidently have a couple of forwards out injured. I know Wednesday’s Fletcher had a gaping head wound after their win against Villa but plenty in reserve if he doesn’t feature and no reason they can’t be eyeing a decent early cup run to show off the depth of squad

    SHEFF WEDS OVER 1.5 TGS…EVENS.

Posting this one through gritted teeth but I like the chances. The Premier League opening weekend looks very tough until you get to Sunday. It’s no secret about Arsenals injury concerns in defence, and Arsene Wenger is going to have to break the bank to land somebody to fill in. There’s more chance of all of us on here winning the lottery in my opinion, and they’ll do well to keep out Liverpool out of their goal mouth after a full pre-season under Klopp and some very good additions if I must admit to. Two players I would happily take into the United squad are Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum. Another important factor for me is that Liverpool’s squad have had a very ‘easy’ summer. Wijnaldum obviously didn’t even get a ticket to France for the Euro’s, Mane might have had a ticket but only to watch a game as he is Senegalise, and the likes of Coutihno and Firmino have had the summer off to do as they please being knocked out of the Copa America in the groups. You could even argue the likes of Clyne, Lallana, Milner and Sturridge didn’t even get a summer run out with Roy Hodgson’s sporadic line ups. What this dwindles down to is Liverpool being the much fresher side, and with Arsenals injury woes, I think it could be a bad afternoon at the Emirates. Arsenals fans might disagree and you’re welcome to, but for me Liverpool will score, and I’ll chance it before their time of 58:00.

    Sunday – Premier League – 4:00PM

    Liverpool – Goal before 58:00 @ 5/6 @ 365 – 3.6 points

Hi Jordan, I agree with you this fully. Liverpool are (yes, sadly) going to be a real threat this year, especially with Mane.. who I was also wanting at United.

Thanks for the write up – I will be following this, and also fancy Liverpool O1.5 team goals @ 2.62/1.

Small interest in China today where Beijing Guoan head to league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande. Beijing have been one of the best sides in the league for a few years but had a bad start to this campaign, but don’t let league positions fool you. Guoan only won one of their first seven games, but are the second best team in the league over the last 15 games and have the second best defensive record so far this season, both accolades are in second place behind Guangzhou though. They have already played three times this year, twice in the cup and once in the league. Guoan lost 3-0 at home but had just as many chances as Guangzhou, and scored in both ties in the cup. They’ll have a fairly decent player missing in Brazil’s Renato Augusto who is with the Olympic team, but still have capable goal threats with Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz, and Chinese internationals Xizhe Zhang and Yu Dabao who have been involved in 14 of their 17 goals this season. Guaon have a game on Friday at home but if they keep up their current form, a point here could mean a lot at the end of the season. Bookies think this will be a low scorer, but as value goes in betting, this is a decent punt.

    Chinese Super League – 12:35PM

Beijing Guoan To Score (Over 0.5 Team Goal) @ 19/20 @ Winner – 2 points

I think both will score here but that defeats the object of finding the value as I need Guangzhou to score (I think they will) but if Guoan knick one early, happy days. BTTS pays 6/5 @ Boylesports and Over 2.5 Match Goals @ EVS @ Winner

ATLÉTICO MINEIRO VS. CHAPECOENSE (12.00 KO)

    BTTS…19/20

    **WON**

Cracking write-up Jordan and I wonder if Liverpool to score 2+ might be a shout at 13/8 – Klopp will certainly have his squad as fit and hungry as any team in the top flight against a Gunners side who I think will struggle to make the Top 4.

    Good luck pal

    • Jordan 8 years ago

Crossed my mind mate. Klopp had Liverpool scoring away from home regularly last season, probably won’t have a better chance against Arsenal this season.

As a Fulham fan I am 99% certain we will be putting a side out that is expected to beat Leyton Orient tonight and at 23/20 @ gentingbet it’s a steal!

I would expect to see a few changes in the squad but I don’t think any of the changes. Will make us any weaker. I expect to see a young lad called sessegnon play who impressed massively in pre season and possibly woodrow. As our defence I’d new I would expect jokanovich to keep the same back 4 that kept Newcastle out to try and build an understanding

    Real Madrid – Sevilla
    – without Ronaldo , Pepe , and Bale, Kroos , Benzema are also all unlikely to play – Zidane suggested that, Sevilla has a really good chance to causing an upset , and with so many players missing can’t see more then 3 goals , Sevilla did well in pre season friendlies so i’ll give a chance to them

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Tough to call this one although I still expect Real to win.
Sevilla have won all their pre-season games but nothing too startling in there.
They have lost a few players and have a new coach as you know and it could take Sampaoli a few weeks to settle in.

  12. liamw 8 years ago

    Alloa v ICT

ICT have conceded before the 50th minute in 4 out of 5 competitive matches so far this season, vs Cowdenbeath, Dundee Utd, Dunfermline and Partick Thistle.A solitary clean sheet came in the 7-0 mauling of Arbroath. Alloa have performed very admirablhy in the cup and put 3 past ICT’s local premier league rivals Ross County, during a 5 game winning streak. Last time out they beat Peterhead 4-0. So, inspired by Greg and Jordan I’m trying my hand at the ‘goal before’ market. Could also be a good game to add to a Greg-Browning-style early goals acca! Approach with caution considering my recent form however!

Alloa goal before 69 mins v ICT (5/6)
    O1.0 FHGls 1.75

That’s interesting, Man City have named John Stones in their Champions League squad

    That could be embarrassing

    • Johnb 8 years ago

Man Coty have already said he hasn’t signed and source at City says it’s a huge embarrassment that he was included in the squad

Lol I think it’s even more embarrassing that Stones himself has said he was going nowhere except Man Utd

Good news for Barnsley as you say.

    • Johnb 8 years ago

Mr f point is that champions league squads don’t need to be in till midnight tonight so it’s and this is Man City’s own admission “a huge embarrassment for the club naming him before he had signed”

  14. davros 8 years ago

English League Cup 7-fold for me tonight as follows :-
    Sheff Wed – EVENS
    Derby – 4/9
    Brighton – 10/21
    Ipswich – 11/20
    Wigan – EVENS
    Rotherham – 4/6
    Wolves – 4/11

7-fold pays 29/1 (banker bet for me is Wigan (EVENS) to beat an Oldham side who have only had their squad together for 2 weeks and have lost all pre-season games and got mullered by Millwall 3-0 on Saturday).
Evens is a great price for Wigan who should do the business even with a second-string team.

    Good luck all tonight|!

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Good luck but I’d never dream of attempting a League Cup WDW 7fold.
Team news is vital as so many will play weakened line-ups.

    • davros 8 years ago

Cheers Mr F, Wigan is my banker bet from this selection as stated (Oldham need a few weeks to bed in an all-new team with a new manager) and acca is only small-stakes for a bit of fun!
But yeah, it’s certainly tricky to get a 7-timer in (but not impossible as I seem to remember getting two 8-folds in last years league cup and fa cup early-round ties).

    Afternoon gents

It’s been a great few days – League cup never easy for punters hence why I’ll be focusing on the Scottish games rather than the 20+ games that are taking place in England!

    Rangers v Peterhead

The ibrox men for all of their dominance and position in games, aren’t turning it into goals but they have an ideal opportunity tonight to score a few! A few markets that appeal – 2, over 2.5 and 3.5 team goals! One market I do like and it’s not one I have done before is to be leading after 30 mins and its in with a good shout at a decent price

Back Rangers to be winning after 30 mins 1/1 (Coral)

    Alloa v Inverness

The surprise package in Scottish football this season is definitely Alloa! They cruised their league cup section and started their league campaign in emphatic style beating Peterhead 4-0! Jack Ross has recruited well over the summer and has added lots of experience! I don’t thinks it’s unreasonable to think Alloa won’t score despite the level of the opposition

    Back Alloa to score 1/2

    Hibs v QOS

Nothing flash here, Hibs will be looking to progress and will play a strong team! They should do the business

    Back Hibs 2/5

Back Alloa to score / Hibs double 11/10 (Bet365) (NAP)

Torn between an Alloa / Hibs and Ramhers to score before 30 for the NAP but opting for the former!

    • Johnb 8 years ago

Expecting Hibs to make a few changes tonight possibly 4 maybe 6

I expect Ofir Marciano to be in goals if his clearance has come through,
any of Harris, Stanton, Bartley, Carmichael, Crane or Boyle could be brought in then depends on the fitness of McGeouch and Fyvie as they could figure

Bottom line though Hibs should be able to win with any team as we have a stronger squad than majority of premier league teams

    • sand 8 years ago

@gregbrowning – bets look good as ever, thanks! Thinking of doing one of your ‘goal before’ bets on the Scottish games – probably the 3 above plus the Dundee United match (not sure about the Hamilton one):

      Alloa v Inverness
      Rangers v Peterhead
      Hibs v QOS
      Dundee United v Partick

Goal before 10 minutes (trebles), goal before 20, 30, 40 fourfolds. Anyone dissuade me??

Liam, like your thinking mate but it’s extremely unlikely that the Scottish games will have goal time markets available inplay :(

    • liamw 8 years ago

Aw of course, for some reason I thought there would be in play linse becasue there were team goals times, dunno why. Have gone for an aternative using pre match markets – small stakes as it doesn’t offer the same value as the in play system:

      Alloa v Inverness
      Rangers v Peterhead
      Hibs v QOS
      Dundee United v Partick

      – Trebles and 4 fold on goal before 10 minutes (Bet365) @ 549/1
      – Four fold on ‘early goal’ lines, varying from 25 – 29 minutes @ 10/1
      – Four fold on over 0.5 FHGl’s @ 2.1/1

Only difference was that I went for Rangers goals in the second two – Rangers goal before 25.00 for the ‘early goal’ and Rangers to score in first half instead of O 0.5 fhgls (odds obviously shorter in that match, so taking slightly more risk by taking Rangers team goal). As usual, the goals before half time would cover and make profit if the others fail.

Early post for the Night Owl and a trip over to Paraguay for some Copa Sud-America Cup action…

SPORTIVO LUQUEÑO VS. PEÑAROL (23.15 KO):

Luqueno sit 7th in Paraguays top flight and although they aren’t pulling up any trees, they have a couple of recent wins under their belt.

In the 6 games played so far, they have yet to keep a clean sheet with their last 3 seeing BTTS & OVERS coming in.

Penarol sit second in the second tier of Argentinian football but I’d argue are a better footballing side from previous (but limited) viewings of the two

They have scored in all of their last 9 games with the most recent 6 all seeing BTTS and 4 of those 6 being BTTS & OVERS.

Selections to consider in order of stake-size:

    BTTS…EVENS

    BTTS & OVERS…7/4

Hopeful of a few goals tonight tho

      Good luck with your bets

  33. olegunnarsolskjaer 8 years ago

    Hibs 2+ goals
    Alloa 1+ goals
    Rangers -1
    Derby to Win
    Bright to Win

    5/1

Nigel Pearson has said that they will be taking this competition seriously and he will want to gain some momentum after the 0-0 with Brighton in the league. Chris Hughton has indicated that he will rotate his squad but with players still pushing for more minutes in a team who will settle for no less than the play offs this season, I can see Brighton’s depth of squad prevailing against Colchester at home.

Evening Gentlemen, I have picked out a decent looking treble for this evenings cup entertainment. I like the look of all these teams and believe they all have a decent chance of scoring at least one goal:

    Shrewsbury v Huddersfield
    Carlisle v Port Vale
    Coventry v Portsmouth

    BTTS treble @ 3.95/1

    Good luck all

  41. nathanl 8 years ago

Great last week, awful last 3 days, so many unexpected results!
Going to abandon my rolling nap and focus on getting back to scratch these next 4 days – currently -£70

    Today’s…

    Rangers -1
    Hibs win
    Derby win
    £20 pays £50.80

  42. Jordan 8 years ago

Evening gents. The Chinese bet went down like the Titanic. Lower league football isn’t my forte so I’m skipping tonight with a better looking card tomorrow.

  43. dazid316 8 years ago

    Over 2.5 goals

    Treble @ 4.5/1 (£10) Skybet
    Peterborough/Wimbledon
    Rotherham/Morecambe
    Southport/Gateshead

  44. liamw 8 years ago

Alloa goal before 71 mins v ICT (5/6) *WON*

Gutted at the timing of it though – in my four fold ‘goals before’ bet I had goal before 27.00 in that match – it came after 27.30 according to Bet365!

  45. nathanufton 8 years ago

Apologies for a late one on this one, I forgot. 8 mins in and I’m trying to work out the Derby team that faces off against Grimsby at the Ipro. Since I’ve missed the pre-match build-up.

We were 4/9 at the weekend for the win but in-play just 4/11 with bet365 – 15 mins in so there’s been some money go on the rams.

    Christie
Keogh/Christie/Forsyth – still not sure who is partnering Keogh in defence.
    Russell/Hughes/Bryson/Forsyth/Carson
    Martin/Bent

the team looks about as good as it could be and there should be no excuses tonight. a chance to get the first win of the season for the rams, yes, I know league cup 1st round, but lets face it nobody in the championship wants to be knocked out so early on.

Now would be a great time to get in there for a Derby win at 4/11

Not sure who is partnering Keogh in the centre of defence

    • nathanufton 8 years ago

my mistake, Christie isn’t in goal, he’s a right wingback, and Carson retains his spot between the sticks. – too much copy and pasting

  46. 8 years ago

Backing hibs 20 seconds before they score ?

  47. liamw 8 years ago

    * WON *

The 2.1 / 1 shot came in, but I was only 30 seconds late for the 10/1! So if the in-play lines had been available in play, the before 30 mins set would have been in, and the before 40 mins win would also have been much better odds than the ht goals I had to go for. The Hamilton game also acme in, but I wasn’t confident so didn’t include. Anyway, thanks to @gregbrowning for pointing out this type of system – even the poorer pre match alternative I used tonight has some merit I think.

  48. Johnb 8 years ago

Hanlon 22 mins all Hibs this game QOS never been in it

    Mon the Cabbage

  49. Johnb 8 years ago

Numpty Holt how did he miss that

  50. GregBrowning 8 years ago

Can’t have asked for a better first half! ⚽️

Rangers to be winning after 30 mins in and Alloa to score

Just waiting in Hibs for the NAP – see to it @johnb that it happens haha!

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Nice one Greg. All going Ok for me except Thistle.

  51. Johnb 8 years ago

I wouldn’t pay the Hibs players cause it’s not good enough missing that many chances,
Holt misses from about a yard out,
    Fontaine misses a simple header
    How this isn’t 3or4 nil I don’t know

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Yer a hard man John. Been listening to the radio and full of praise for Hibs’ display even though they say they should be 4 up.

  52. HullShaker 8 years ago

Just looking at FH Youth game in-play and usually like these for goals but everything pointed to a relative low-scorer.

FH just gone 1 up after 2 minutes so maybe worth keeping an eye on…4/6 for Over 4.5 MGS.

  53. boomshackle 8 years ago

Need a Hibs goal for full house on the top tips.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Pogba’s coming on for Partick – bet they wish they’d signed his brother.
Same with Rangers – they must be cursing their luck for signing Andy Halliday instead of Robbie.

Deary me Hibs, that’ is Brutal!

Lennon fielded what was pretty much his full strength side!

That’s why they are in the championship I guess!

  60. dom77 8 years ago

Hibs are a joke team. Will always let you down.

So much for Oldham being all over the place….

Hibs did what they do best hibsed it again

  65. john smith 8 years ago

I can’t buy a win just now. Hibs were a joke tonight, if your defence is crap and you can’t score you’re in trouble..

    Swiss Super League – 6:45PM

Both teams have started their domestic season scoring fairly well, but they’ve also let in a couple of goals too. Lucerne have played three games with all three seeing BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals with wins seeing 4-3 and 2-1 scores, with a 3-2 loss against Basel. Vaduz have scored in all of their three games and have only failed to score at home against Lucerne once in their history. This market has come up in three of the last four h2h’s, with it landing six out of nine on Vaduz’ home turf.

    Vaduz/Lucerne BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals @ EVS @ 365 – 2.5 points

A longer option would be BTTS & Over 3.5 which is available @ 15/8 @ Coral
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

I have also picked out a bet in Mexico for Saturday morning which I will add a write up for later in the week.

    Saturday – Mexico Apertura – 3:00AM

    Tijuana – Goal before 46:00 @ 5/6 @ 365 – 3.6 points
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

Might have a bet for later this evening but will wait for team news. Likely be around midnight.
