AUG 22: THE SAINT GREG BROWNING’S TIPS

GregBrowning

GREG’S made a super start to his posts with three out of four winners but that won’t surprise anyone who has been following him over the last couple of years.

He’s picked out a Saturday nap from the Scottish Premiership and has added other selections.

Aberdeen v Dundee

The Dark Blues have started the season well and Paul Hartley can be pleased with how his side have performed.

Dundee were my NAP last week to score two or more at 11-8 against my mob and I’m taking them again as my NAP.

Going forward they are a real threat with Gary Harkins pulling the strings in the middle and up tip they’re not short of options with Greg Stewart, Kane Hemmings and Rory Loy all contributing goals.

I see no reason why they can’t go to Aberdeen and score – Dundee have scored in 29 of the last 35 meetings with the Dons and I’m going for them to make it 30.

Back Dundee to score (NAP)
(4-5, Skybet)

Kilmarnock v Ross County

Gary Locke would have been feeling the pressure a few weeks ago but his team have given him a bit of breathing space. Consecutive 2-2 draws have shown Killie can find the net and the problem is they have scored two goals in every match this season.

They welcome a County side who have had a decent start to the season and look as if they will have enough about them to stay up.

The last seven meetings between these sides have seen over 2.5 goals I’m going for that run to continue with Kilmarnock finding their scoring boots but likely to concede.

Back over 2.5 match goals 19-20

East Fife v Elgin

I’ve been a big fan of Elgin this season and have posted them with joy a few times already. They beat Alloa 2-0 after extra time in the Challenge Cup on Tuesday which was a fantastic result given two leagues separated the sides.

East Fife are a solid outfit at Bayview and don’t lose many. Thhey have the upper hand in fixtures against Elgin and are unbeaten in eight previous meetings. I think they’ll edge this.

Back East Fife 11-10

Other picks
QPR v Rotherham – over 1.5 QPR team goals 4-5
Carlise v Wimbledon – over 2.5 match goals 19-20

I expect this will come in Greg. Dundee are our bogey team! In 5 meetings last season we won only once, drew 3 and lost 1, all of which seen both team score. Dundee have impressed so far this season, and I fancy them for top 6 this season.

Quite surprised that both to score is available at evens, and 4/5 for Dundee to score is excellent value.

Congrats on the thread, I have no doubt you’ll show a nice profit on a monthly basis.

  6. Jimmyb 1 year ago

I don’t think we will mess up this kind of game so much this season. 2-0 or 2-1 maybe.

  7. Greg Browning 1 year ago

Offt, the Red army have decended on here in their masses, haha!

Cheers Al, Yeah they certainly appear to have the upper hand in recent meetings Al, not much differene in value between dundee to score and BTTS! Has a good chance

  8. jimba 1 year ago

Both to score in dundee game looks a good punt!

  9. AL 1 year ago

agreed, no point risking the both to score when you are getting 4/5 just for Dundee scoring. Btts & Aberdeen to win & we’ll both be happy! Ha

Aberdeen v Dundee is a good shout for BTTS

  11. AL 1 year ago

Hows Shaughnessy getting on with you lot Greg? Thought he looked a good prospect a few years back, he just loses concentration a bit too much, something he should have improved on over time. He was quite unlucky with us that he usually got played at right back, when he’s more comfortable in the middle, which didn’t do him any favours. Good attitude though and I hope he does well for the saints.

Al, he’s had a tough start, looks like a confidance player! Improved over the last couple of games though to be fair to him and he has a secret weapon. . . . . The long throw, it’s causing havoc, haha! 2-1 the Dons then :)

we’ll go for 3-1 Greg, just so I have fingernails left come 4.50 on sat! Haha. Hope he comes good for you. Seen him a lot the 2nd half of the season playing for the u20s and seen the long throw in action, Sutton will be on the end of most of them I imagine! There’s def a player in there but he could be done with bulking up a little I feel

Here are my previews for the Premier League today.

    Premier League

13:45 Manchester United vs Newcastle United – Prediction 2 v 0 – Best Bets, United to win -1 AH @ 1.55, Memphis to score anytime @13/10

United will be confident of getting the win against a Newcastle team that rarely travel well and I fancy they can to do it with something to spare here with new signing Memphis sparkling in his most recent home performance against Brugge and likely to be the difference maker again.

I expect Newcastle to be a better team this year but it won’t begin here as United edge to a comfortable win with the young Dutchman a possibility to get on the scoresheet @13/10 anytime.

They should win by more than 1 but I’ll play it safe with the 1.55 on offer on the Asian handicap.

    16:00 West Ham vs Bournemouth – Prediction – 1.1 – Best Bets – DRAW @5/2, BTTS @8/11

I really like the style and footballing philosophy of the Cherries under their young boss Eddie Howe and they can take a point here against a Hammers side that still look a bit short and need investment in their squad under their new manager Slaven Bilic.

I have a feeling we will see a share of the spoils here with the visitors earning plaudits for their performance while they may find the net as well for their first goal in the big league since promotion.

BTTS is not a statistically obvious choice, but 7 of the Hammers last 11 at home did see BTTS and Bournemouth almost always scored on the road last season, albeit in the Championship but I do expect the visitors to get their first goal and I might take a chance on it @8/11. They were desperately unlucky against Liverpool and if they perform like that again, I fancy them to take something from the game today.

    16:00 Leicester vs Tottenham = Prediction -2.2 – Best Bets – BTTS @ 8/13, BTTS and over 2.5 goals @20/21

This game screams out goals and we could get a few as an on form Leicester entertain a Spurs side that don’t look good enough to get in the top 4 this year with far too much reliance placed on youngster Harry Kane.

Leicester have 2 wins from 2 although It remains to be seen if Claudio Ranieri will have a positive impact on Leicester over the long run but 6 points represents a great start for a man under huge pressure to maintain the stunning form that secured their safety last year under former gaffer Nigel Pearson.

Japan man Okazaki looks like a good piece of business for the Italian boss and I expect his high energy combination with Jamie Vardie to give Spurs trouble today and while I do fancy the home side to claim at least a point, I also have a feeling for goals even if Spurs recent stats on the road don’t particularly favour the selection.

Last season both meetings saw BTTS with 10 goals scored in the 2 matches and while those 2 fixtures were the only recent contests between the 2 sides, hisorically the fixture has seen BTTS in 11 of the last 12 going back 16 years so there would appear to be a decent chance of it again today, especially considering Leicesters form and Spurs pedigree.

Leicester did concede 2 to at home to Sunderland as well and if they can do that, then Spurs have every chance of hitting the back of Schmeichels net as well.

I’m split between a home win or draw so BTTS will be the best bet here @8/13 while I also fancy over 2.5 goals as well.

    16:00 Sunderland vs Swansea – Prediction – 0.4 – Best Bets – Swansea to win @23/20, Swansea to score 2 or more @ 6/5,

It’s hard to see anything other than an away win here as an apalling Sunderland side take on the impressive Swansea who are quite simply a far superior team on their day and if this one goes to form, there can only be one winner.

Heavy defeats to Norwich and Leicester have put Dick Advocaat under huge pressure just two games into the season and with Swansea very impressive in their opening showings of the season, I really fancy them to win handsomely here but I’ll play it safe and take the 23/20 on offer on the outright win.

6/5 on Swansea to score 2 or more looks generous as well considering Sunderlands home record, overall form and the ability of a Swansea team that continue to grow and grow under Garry Monk.

The Black cats defence has conceded 2 or more in 4 of their last 8 at home going back to last season and I think it could be another miserable day for Advocaat who I fancy could be the first boss to leave his post this season despite the supposed “team meetings” this week that have been held in the Sunderland dressing room.

An away win @23/20 is generous to say the least and I fancy the visitors to do it with some considerable style as the dangerous attack of Gomis and Ayew bears further fruit for the Welsh side.

16:00 Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa – Prediction – 1.1 – No bets

Palace should be good enough to win here but i may leave them out as I have a nagging little feeling that Villa might earn a barely deserved point. No bets here.

    16:00 Norwich vs Stoke – Prediction – 1.1 – Best Bets – BTTS @5/6, DRAW @12/5

Both sides have started the season brightly and I fancy an open and entertaining game here with Barcelona B (Stoke) likely to fancy their chances of getting the points on the road against newly promoted Norwich who have performed well in their first 2 games, easily beating Sunderland last weekend.

Under their young Scots boss, Alex Neil, this Norwich side look capable of scoring and conceding and while they might be involved in a fight for survival, I don’t expect them to be relegated ultimately and Carrow Road could be a hard place to win this season.

Stoke new boy Xherdan Xhakiri is in a visting squad that is now beginning to look rather tasty as Mark Hughes does his best impression of a continental passing unit with small and dangerous attackeers in the final third of the pitch and we should see some really good games involving Stoke this season which is certainly not a sentence uttered in years gone by.

Both sides definitely like to play football and while I don’t expect a goal fest, I do fancy BTTS @ 5/6 and a share of the spoils @12/5 leaving both managers relatively satisfied.

    Suggested Bets

Memphis to score anytime @ 11/8
United to beat Newcastle -1 AH @1.55
    Leicester v Spurs – BTTS @8/13
Leicester v Spurs – BTTS and over 2.5 goals @20/21
    West Ham v Bournemouth – BTTS @8/11
    Norwich v Stoke – BTTS @5/6
Swansea to beat Sunderland @ 23/20
Swansea to score 2 or more @6/5

    Draws

    Norwich v Stoke @12/5
    West Ham v Bournemouth @5/2

    Evening gents

    Kilmarnock v Ross County

Gary Locke would have been feeling the pressure a few weeks ago but his team have given him a bit of breathing space! Consecutive 2-2 draws has shown Killie can find the net and, the problem is they have scored 2 goals in every match this season! They welcome a county side who have had a decent start to the season and look as if they will have enough about them to stay up again! The last 7 meetings between these sides have seen over 2.5 goals, going for that run to continue with Kilmarnock finding their scoring boots but likely to conceed

Back over 2.5 matxh gosls 19/20

    East Fife v Elgin

I’ve been a big fan of Elgin this season and have posted them with joy a few times already l! They beat Alloa 2-0 after ET in the challenge cup on Tuesday which was a fantastic result given two leagues separated the sides! East Fife are a solid outfit at Bayvlew and dont lose many, they have the upper hand in fixtures against Elgin and are unbeaten 8 previous meetings! I think they’ll edge this!

    Back East Fife 11/10

    Other picks

QPR v Rotherham – over 1.5 QPR team goals 4/5
Carlise v AFC Wimbledon – over 2.5 matxh goals 19/20

  23. ryan 1 year ago

    Championship

    16:00 Middlesbrough vs Bristol City = Prediction – 3.0 – ‘Boro to win @ 4/7

I fancy the home team will be far too strong for newly promoted but ambitious Bristol City who have struggled so far since their promotion.

I expected the hosts to be shorter than 4/7 and I would imagine they will go below 1/2 pre kick-off and they should get the job done with something to spare as well if you want to be brave and back them @6/5 on the handicap.

    16:00 Bolton vs Nottingham Forest – Prediction 1.1- Draw @ 12/5

Neither side in form with Bolton drawing 3 of their last 5 at home going back to last season while Forest have drawn 3 of their last 6 on the road and I’m going for a share of the spoils here.

    16:00 Charlton vs Hull – Prediction 1.1 – Best Bets – BTTS @ 10/11, Draw @ 23/10

Charlton have lost just 2 of their last 9 at home and are always a hard team to beat, especially in front of their own supporters, and I think we will see BTTS and another draw here with Hull yet to hit top form in their return to the lower division.

5 of Hull’s last 6 away games saw BTTS while Charlton have recorded 5 out of 7 BTTS results in their previous home fixtures.

I expect a tough competitive contest with BTTS priced @10/11 and the draw @23/10.

16:00 Fulham vs Huddersfield – Prediction 2.1- Best Bets – No bets

Fulham have 1 clean sheet in their last 13 home games and while Huddersfield are no hot-shots on the road, I do believe we might see some goals here.

The visitors have managed to score in 7 of 11 away games but none in their last 3 and so for that reason I’m going to leave it out.

16:00 Queens Park Rangers vs Rotherham – Prediction 3.1 – Best Bets, QPR to win @3/4, Austin to score @10/11

QPR won impressively at Wolves in midweek and they should have too much quality for an ordinary Rotherham side who don’t have anyone like a Charlie Austin to score their goals for them.

I fancy an easy win and a goal or 2 for the England hit-man Austin who could be playing his final game(S) for the club with plenty of teams sure to make a late bit to land a player who should be playing in the top league.

For now, it is to QPR’s advantage that they still have a man capable of scoring lots of goals at this level. Home win @3/4.

    16:00 Brighton vs Blackburn – Prediction – 2.0 – Best Bets – Brighton to win @21/20

Blackburn are struggling for goals and with Jordan Rhodes expected to miss this one, I fancy the home team who seem to have made improvements over the summer and have started the season brightly, pardon the pun.

Rovers minus Gestede, Rhodes and King = no goals and I see an away day loss here for a team badly in need of new investment.

    SPFL Premier League

    16:00 – Hearts v Partick – Prediction 3.1 – Best Bets – Hearts to win @10/11

Hearts look way too big a price here considering the form they have shown since their promotion with 4 successive wins and with Thistle yet to win this season, I expect a home win for an under-rated team.

    Suggested Bets

    Middlesbrough to beat Bristol City
    QPR to beat Rotherham @3/4
Charlie Austin to score anytime @10/11
    Charlton v Hull – BTTS @10/11
    Brighton to beat Blackburn @21/20
    Hearts to beat Partick @10/11

  24. gil 1 year ago

I wouldn’t touch Hearts…tradition is in favour of their opponents!!! Why you all people think that MU is so impressive? I don’t like LVG’s philosophy! Safe bets for today: QPR….Swansea…Leicester 2.5 Over….Matersburg….Sturm

  25. AL 1 year ago

    Stevenage v Hartlepool

Stevenage have conceded 9 goals in 4 games this season, and 2 or more in all of those games. Hartlepool have scored in all 4 games so far, scoring 6 in the process

STEVENAGE NO CLEAN SHEET @ 1/2

    Peterhead v Dunfermline

Dunfermline as we all know have been scoring for fun in recent weeks with 24 goals scored & 4 conceded in 5 games, not surpringly all have seen over 2.5 goals. Peterhead also know where the goal is, with 14 for & 8 against in their 5 games to date. Again all 5 have seen over 2.5 goals.

    OVER 2.5 GOALS @ 1/2

    QPR v Rotherham

QPR are begining to look the part after an opening day loss at Charlton. If they can keep hold of Charlie Austin he’ll score 25/30 in this division. He’s scored in his last 2 games and you’ve got to fancy him to score again today.

    OVER 1.5 QPR GOALS @ 4/5

    Treble returns just over 3/1

  26. AL 1 year ago

Small stake 1st goal Lucky 31

    AUSTIN (QPR) @ 7/2

    ARMSTRONG (COVENTRY) @ 13/2
    IBHERE (CARLISLE) @ 13/2

Also done them to score anytime trebles

    AUSTIN @ 6/5
    KIKE (MIDDLESBORO) @ 7/5
    GOMIS (SWANSEA) @ 13/8
    ARMSTRONG (COVENTRY) @ 23/10

Anther good win for the Dons Al, Jimmy, :)

    • AL 1 year ago

Yeah nice win, totally dominated the first half but just couldn’t get a goal. Second half Dundee were starting to take control and looked the more likely to score when we broke and took the lead against the run of play. Dundee never really threatened much to be fair other than a few long range attempts, final ball letting them down combined with some good defending from us. On to Partick next weekend, hopefully continue the 100% start to the season before the international break kicks in!

Good win for the Saint’s Greg after being 1-0 down
