ANDY MURRAY begins his Cincinnati Masters campaign today with a spring in his step after his Montreal title win on Sunday.

The Scot faces Mardy Fish for the first time since beating him in the Cincinnati semis four years ago and is 2-7 for a straight-sets win while under 19.5 games pays 13-15 at 10bet.

Fish is set to retire after the US Open and will likely have more time on his hands to prepare after being sent packing by Murray. He actually has a good 4-4 record in their head-to-head and is 10-1 for victory over the British No.1 today.

Novak Djokovic takes on Benoit Paire while in the women's singles there's a clutch of tasty ties including Belinda Bencic against Flavia Pennetta, Jelena Jankovic against home favourite Madison Keys and Coco Vandeweghe's battle with Lucie Safarova.

There's also plenty of cricket lined up – South Africa v New Zealand in an ODI plus One-Day Cup domestic action – and the usual helping of Major League Baseball.

Good luck with your bets and post your sporting tips and thoughts here.

Ad, what’s ur thoughts on Bencic to beat Pennetta. She is flying right now. The only thing that concerns me is she maybe a bit tired? But having beaten so many top ten players in the last couple of weeks including Serena etc and won the title in Montreal her confidence must be sky high.

    • Ad 9 years ago

She certainly is flying Joe, but as you point out, fatigue is a concern. I think it’s probably one to avoid to be honest. Nearly 2/1 to beat kerber was a gamble on her fitness worth taking. At 4/6 on I’m not so sure. Pennetta, assuming she plays pretty well, won’t give bencic as many freebies as kerber did, and if she can turn this into a drawn out scrap, pennettas fresher legs should get her over the line.

What I do like the look of today:

      Mladenovic d Halep @ 2/1

This price would be bigger if it wasn’t for the long week Halep has just had. But it’s still worth taking I think. Halep retired against bencic on Sunday and it seems very unlikely she’ll have recovered fully for this. Even fully fit is give mladenovic a chance. She beat her on the grass at Birmingham (which I seem to recall tipping on here!) and has the style of game that Halep can be vuvlnerable to. A tired Halep against a firing Mladenovic is a matchup i like the look of. I would suggest a bookie who pays out after a completed set as a retirement seems quite likely if

    Padres o7.5 hits @ 1.76 *won*

    Add
    Marlins o8.5 @ 1.76 *won*

    Double @ 3.13 *won*

Padres line looks like a gift to me.

    And it certainly was!

  3. Dazzler 9 years ago

    Tonight’s mlb
    Padres o7.5 hits @ 1.74

No double today. Samardzija is pitching against the Angels but the line is @ 8.5 hits and Angels offense haven’t been hitting the ball well of late. If it drops to 7.5 I’ll take another look.

    Chardy d Nadal @ 4/1

Rafa, despite showing some sort of return to form recently, still has a long way to go before he can be considered a sure thing on a faster surface. Chardy, if he clicks, has the weapons to punish a sub par Nadal. Chardy has actually shown very good form This month, taking out Mahut, Mayer, karlovic and isner in Montreal, and only stopped by Djokvic 6-4, 6-4. He’s got a win under his belt this week already, a straight forward 6-4 6-2 dismissal of Ram, and if he can put in a no nonsense performance, he can push Rafa all the way.

  5. Ad 9 years ago

    Chardy 4/1
    Mladenovic 2/1

  6. Ad 9 years ago

The surface is quite fast here in Cincinnati and that gives both these picks a boost (theoretically!)

Also consider a small double @ around 12/1

  7. Dazzler 9 years ago

    Add
    Angels o7.5 hits @ 1.68

    Double @ 3.09

    Well that didn’t take long.

  8. mlac 9 years ago

either Mladenovic is looking awful, or halep on fire.

  9. Ad 9 years ago

Mladenovic been poor from the sounds of things. But somehow stil alive . Hopefully this heat takes its toll on Halep. But as i type this Mladenovic double faults then goes long with a rally shot then serves up a tame second to get hit for a winner and its 0-40 at the start of the second. Saves a couple but gets broken. Not very optimistic

  10. Ad 9 years ago

Eugh, double break back chance and Halep gets the worlds luckiest net cord. Then Mladenovic manages to get on top with a great drop shot but for some reasons decides not to play the ball she gets back from Halep which lands by her feet on the baseline. She could’ve had this match back on level terms. But there’s no oomph from her.

    this is infuriating.

  13. Ad 9 years ago

Mladenovic has lost the ability to play a backhand. Whether cramp or injury I don’t know. But she’s played five ludicrously bad backhands in a row and can barely hold her racket on that side anymore

  14. Felix 9 years ago

Bencic is absolutely destroying pennetta. Looks full of energy so far

  15. Ad 9 years ago

The good news is her leg looks like it’s about to fall off too. Quad injury to go with the hand problem. Somehow held serve despite that. Why she had to throw her serve away last time round I don’t know. Halep is there for the beating. But a combination of errors and injury has worked against us

  16. Ad 9 years ago

I know it’s crazy and she’s only lost twice all year but I’m on pironkovs to beat Serena inn play. 7/1

  17. Ad 9 years ago

Conditions are frustrating- hot and windy. And Serena doesn’t look that comfy. She also looks chunky to me. I know she’s a big strong lass, and maybe it’s just her hair style, but I did a double take when I saw her and genuinely thought it was Taylor Townsend

    • Ad 9 years ago

There’s not really such a thing as a safe double in the WTA, but Stephens/ Schmiedlova at evens looks quite solid.

How is it possible that sam querry only won one game against Robredo in the first set with that serve of his. That’s impressively poor.

  20. Joe 9 years ago

    Comfortable win for Bencic.

  21. Ad 9 years ago

Paire @ 17/1 anyone?! Started fast! Madness taking hold of me tonight. Upset addicted

Ad on double looking good. Still like Chardy?

  24. Ad 9 years ago

Still like chardy, yes. his price has come down so there must be money coming in for him. I would never stake too big on anyone at that price, and Chardy is hardly reliable, but if he can replicate his best from the last ten days or so he has a really good chance

      MLB Bets For Tonight

      Single @ 11/10 (£10)
      NY Mets @ Baltimore Orioles
      NY Mets ML
Tight game as Orioles will be up for it as lost there wildcard spot after lost last night, hopefull Mets keep there good form going

      5 Fold @ 24.64/1 (£5)
Over 5.5 Toronto Blue Jays Runs
      Pittsburgh Pirates ML
Houston Astros & Under 9.5 Runs
      St Louis Cardinals ML
LA Angels & Over 5.5 Runs
Not liking prices on Blue Jays tonight to short on anything i liked
Pirates @ home should win even with Happ as starting pitcher, Astros have there best pitcher Keuchel starting with his good home record, Cardinals @ home should win as Giants pitcher Cain should give up hits/runs, Hopefully White Sox Pitcher Samardzija gives up plenty hits/runs for a Angels win

      Crazy/Fun bet(Risky)
      Single @ 11/2 (£5)
      Detroit Tigers @ Chicago Cubs
Detroit Tigers & Over 10.5 Runs
Cubs the form team of the 2 but Cubs pitcher Lester’s record against Tigers not great, Tigers player Miggy has good figures when facing Lester and after 10-8 win for Tigers last night that would do nicely again

  25. Dazzler 9 years ago

    Padres o7.5 hits @ 1.74 *won*

Padres started off really slow but they got their 8th hit in the bottom of the 8th.
