AFTER a profitable Saturday it was almost a full house of top tips on Sunday.
Rangers -1 came up easily as an even-money Super Single and Wolfsburg, PSG -1 and Benfica and gave me a 13-8 winning Top Treble.
The both to score treble was one goal short with Groningen for once failing to score on their visit to PSV. I could have put up more bets and bigger prices on Sunday but I’d rather post winners.
Monday’s fairly quiet ahead of a hectic week but there are some big games including Liverpool v Bournemouth in the Premier League and the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup with Barcelona starting 4-0 down against Athletic Bilbao.
Liverpool are shorter than 1-2 to win and I know many people baulk when they are so short but they should beat a Bournemouth side who fought well but went down 1-0 at home to Aston Villa.
Phillipe Coutinho again rescued the Reds with their goal at Stoke and the Brazilian star could be worth a look at 5-2 with Stan James to score. Christian Benteke is 11-10 favourite with Stan James.
Barcelona players looked knackered as last week’s first leg in Bilbao was staged just three days after their UEFA Super Cup success against Sevilla.
They’ve conceded eight goals in 180 minutes and while you can’t write them off it would be a miraculous recovery to overturn the deficit. Barca are 21-5 at sportingbet to lift the trophy and it feels short while Barca -4 pays 11-2 at Coral.
I’m sure Barca will go for it in front of their fans but the way they’ve defended in the past week the best bet could be both teams to score at 11-10 with betway.
There are two Italian Cup clashes with Chievo facing Salernitana and AC Milan entertaining Perugia while other matches include Jong Ajax v Helmond Sport in the Jupiler League.
Milan are a best 2-9 with Ladbrokes and I’ll look to back them -1 at 5-6 with Paddy Power if as expected they field a strong side. The San Siro giants are playing at this early stake for the first time since 1998 with the big guns not coming in until the last-16 stage in January.
This is a new-look Milan with Sinisa Mihajlovic replacing Filippo Inzaghi and bringing in the likes of Bertolacci, Alessio Romagnoli, Luiz Adriano and Carlos Bacca. Loads of punters on here made money with Bacca’s scoring exploits for Sevilla last season and I’ll be backing him to score if he starts.
Chievo of course ply their trade in Serie A and face a side just promoted from Serie C. Should be a gulf in quality between the sides as long as Chievo play a full side or close to it.
In the League of Ireland the big match sees leaders Dundalk entertain St Patrick’s but that’s tough to call and I’m focusing on the other end of the table.
A few weeks ago Limerick looked dead and buried at the foot of the table but after three wins in a row they could close the gap in second-bottom Sligo to one point if they beat Longford at home tonight.
It’s always a risk backing a team sitting at the foot of the table but Limerick’s confidence must be high with their wins including a 3-2 success at Cork last time out and they are a best 13-10 at Coral.
Longford are without a win in seven since beating Limerick at home in May and are unbeaten in three trips to Munster but lost four in a row previous to that.
For the Top Treble I’m taking a chance on the two Italian Cup favourites as early team news suggests they’ll field strong sides. If you can wait for confirmation I’d advise that.
Milan are looking to lay down a marker and try to compete at least for a Champions League place and there is talk they could sign Red Bull’s Jonathan Soriano which would be a good capture. Back Milan -1 at and if Bacca starts and you see a price for him to score take it.
Complete the treble on Drogheda draw no bet at Galway and this is taking simply on team news with Galway missing nine players and struggling to put an experienced team on the field. I’ve seen Drogheda tipped to win but will play safer with DNB.
