Aug 16: Johnb’s Racing Tips & Chat

MRF_RacingTips_Racebets

THE horse Johnb planned to take as his double stake NAP/NB won but that’s the way it goes sometimes.

He is now 18.39 points down for August and hoping to make up some ground.

Blue Point 14-1 racebets

Johnb says: “I have already advised Churchill for next year’s 2000 Guineas & Derby – he has been really impressive this season and my view is he will get even better next year.

“Blue Point on the other hand is harder to call for how he will progress next year. If he trains on then in my view it’s a straight fight between Blue Point & Churchill but in the Derby Churchill is the only horse for me – he gives me the same excitement as Golden Horn did.

“But to answer my question earlier the most impressive horse I have seen this year is BLUE POINT with Churchill and Annie Power a close second and third.”

Johnb just wondered what you views are on the Juddmonte on Wednesday?

I was going to tip Mutakayyef at 14/1 for the Juddmonte

You don’t think postponed will win then?

I think the horse isn’t right,
Roger Varian has said Postponed is okay but I am not convinced,
I think he has picked up a virus but I would have confidently picked Mutakayyef anyway as he is a horse that has been totally transformed since being gelded

            donny 4 months ago

What makes you say that? Varian didn’t run him in the King George because of the infection so surely he wouldn’t run him if he wasn’t right!

I have seen footage of the horse and he doesn’t look right

“Roger Varian is confident Postponed is back firing on all cylinders ahead of his return to action in the Juddmonte International at York.

“It’s challenging, but hopefully Postponed can give us a boost. He’s been training well over the last few weeks, looks great and seems right back to himself. Horses are no different to people, in that one person might take longer to get over an illness than another living next door. Postponed is a big five-year-old with a good constitution and he looks to have recovered quicker than some. He’s in his prime and one of the best around. It was disappointing to miss the King George but by no means the end of the world.”

                  Source – Gg.co.uk

Looks like Postponed is the one to beat still, with a good price at the moment.

The Olympics are going well and still have my bet of the Championships to come which is Brittney Reese to win the long jump, the odds of 13/8 were quite simply baffling and she is now even money

I don’t tip odds on but ASBEL KIPROP in the Men’s 1500m are far too generous at 8/13 ladbrokes
    He should be 1/3

I was hoping to get even money on Laura Muir to win a medal in the Women’s 1500m but the bookies are not playing
She is 10/11 paddy power and I think she is nailed on to get a medal
I actually think that medal could be Gold and she is a massive price at 8/1

    Women’s 1500m
LAURA MUIR to win Gold 8/1 paddy power

Well done to the winners yesterday but a special mention must go to Peter Darryl who just keeps producing nap after nap.
    Long may the run continue.

Not so good from me with just the one placed ew.
Not going too mad today as im waiting for York and am sticking to home soil.
The favs in the first 2 at Tipp look hard to oppose so will double them. The only other horse ive backed is Tony Martins CLONALIG HOUSE currently 7/1 with bet 365 but as low as 4s with pp. Hasnt shown much so far but Davy Russell is booked for the first time and money is coming for hom which always raises the alarm bells when it comes to Martin. Its also his only runner of the day.

    Best of luck to all

For today’s Men’s 1500m in Rio I have already mentioned Kiprop but he is too short for me although he is a bigger price than he should be,
I haven’t seen odds but there could be a decent chance of a world record in this race depending on whether he wants to go for it but he only just failed last year by under a second

    Wednesday’s Tips

    York
    3:05
Idaho 11/8 NAP/NB racebets (double stake)
This was advised on Sunday & he is now odds on

    3:40
    Mutakayyef 11/1 racebets

I mentioned Mutakayyef yesterday when 14/1 but has seen a lot of money today,
It’s not hard to see why as the form improvement has been massive since he was gelded last year,
Mutakayyef was always touted as something special but never really showed it on the track until he was gelded
