ALLOA produced another cup shock as they knocked out Inverness to bring up the Super Single.

I fancied the League One side at 9-2 with bet365 but went safer and took Alloa draw no bet at a very reasonable price of 13-5.
My both to score treble came up fairly comfortably at 9-2 thanks to games at Southend, Doncaster and Dundee United.
The Top Treble was Alloa to score, Rangers -1 and Hibs to score 2+ and I was one Hibs goal short of a full house as Neil Lennon's men missed a handful of chances in the first half before being blown away by Queen of the South after the break.
I was pleased to go so close on a difficult card and I've learned over the years to avoid WDW in English League Cup matches.
There are three more ties tonight with Celtic v Motherwell, Ayr v Aberdeen and St Johnstone v Hearts and I'll post a separate preview. Celtic should win well and I like Aberdeen too but Saints v Jambos is impossible to call.
In the IRN-BRU Cup there is one tie with Rangers Under-20s tackling Stirling University and team news for the home side will be the key here although the home win at Murray Park is expected.
In the EFL Cup there are four matches including Fleetwood v Leeds, Luton v Aston Villa and QPR v Swindon. Leeds were dire at QPR at the weekend and could be in trouble and Luton who finished last season well and started with a fine 3-0 win at Plymouth at the weekend might give Villa a fright.
I'm maintaining my stance of not predicting EFL Cup wins even though I expect Leeds and QPR to triumph.
My Super Single is a double on Aberdeen (reasoning on the preview) and Basel who face closest challengers Young Boys in the Swiss League.
Basel are the dominant side in Switzerland having won the title by 14 points last season and taken maximum points from their first three games. Young Boys will be boosted by their Champions League win against Shakhtar Donetsk and they're in good form.
However, their record at Basel is dire with seven defeats in the last eight visits and just six goal in 12 meetings.
My only other bet is a both to score treble as I try to repeat last night's success. Start with Vaduz v Lucerne that's been written about by Jordan and add Celtic v Motherwell.
I reckon Celtic will win but Well are capable of scoring against a weakened defence. Louis Moult is injured but pacey frontman Marvin Johnson has started the season well and Scott McDonald will be a threat against one of his former teams.
Complete with Luton v Aston Villa. Luton notched a superb 3-0 win at Plymouth at the weekend and there's no pressure for them here as promotion is the main aim. Villa were edged out 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday and boss Robert di Matteo says he'll play a strong side as he looks for a morale-boosting win.

    Nice and simple tonight
    Done a double:
Alloa to score 4/7 and thistle to score 1/3
    Just over evens
Thanks for everyone’s input as usual!

    Well done Paul
Tough card so early on in the season, but would liked to say the membership of this site fee
    Is well worth every penny.
For those thinking of paying for full membership money back within one month.(2015/16)
Here is to a profitable start to the main event this weekend. Good luck to all and thank you.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

No pressure on anyone to take out a membership but I’m convinced it’s money well spent.

  3. bettingman1 8 years ago

Second that, if you follow the guys on this you’ll make the money back easily within the first few bets hopefully through betting club etc.
Brilliant start to 16/17 season long may it continue

  4. HullShaker 8 years ago

Cracking start to the season Mr F – it really is a no-brainer for anyone fretting about the sign-up fee.

You have to stand back and take stock sometimes but the depth of knowledge on the site is second to none: Scottish leagues fully covered, genuine English club fans posting in-depth stuff, Irish and Welsh lads present and all with good, sound knowledge.

Add to that, folk like Jordan who can can cover the MLS and beyond to a tee and a smattering of likeminded South American backers who do pretty damn well.

As for the more ‘obscure’ European leagues it seems this year there’s not a country that doesn’t have a resident follower: Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Romania, Poland – the list goes on and the insight from some into the Far East expansion has been a real eye opener.

Belting stuff and a massive well done to all behind the scenes.

Anyway, as a miserable Northerner, that’s my positive comment quota used up for the next few months.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Cheers, it’s a real team effort and I especially appreciate the input from the guys on the foreign leagues such as Radu and Andrez.

Having a little look at something to have an overnight flutter on.

    Copa superamerica
    Atletico Montevideo vs Cerro porteno.

Goal time for cerro porteno set at 65 mins. Going to give this a go for under. The away side is usually good for a goal and with the Paraguayan league fully in motion unlike the Uruguayan league I’ll take a chance on this.

  6. Johnb 8 years ago

I wouldn’t have said blown away in second half as Qos had 3 chances and took them to go with 1 chance in first half, rest of the game was the queens goal getting battered which in a way was impressive because we only played the full match with 10 men as Cummings was never seen till one chance late on.

As I said earlier though, we got what we deserved because you can’t miss that many clear cut chances and expect to go go through

    • elvis parsley 8 years ago

What tonight’s Scottish results show is that outside the 1st 11, the likes of Patrick, hibs, Inverness, hamilton etc are no better than today’s winners.
Poor attitude might have something to do with it also, but 2 of the 4 mentioned above were at home, which is not clever letting down their die-hard fans.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

That’s cup football for you – you need to give credit to the teams who won and apparently Dundee United’s first-half display was top notch.
Attitude has nothing to do with it – all teams want to win games.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

I know Hibs were unlucky as they should have won it in first half but it’s just an expression.
All that matters is the final scoreline.

Gaz Metan Medias – ASA Targu Mures
Medias is favorite to win this game for several reasons :
    — they play home and it is known that is very difficult to win on their home arena;
    — ASA Targu Mures is down from all points of view and to be fair i think they will be relegated at the end of the season if they will get there… :D;
    — ASA in all 3 games in this season they scored 2 and conceded 7 losing all matches;
    — what is very important is that one of those defeats was suffered in the first day in front of Medias 2-1;
    — after last game Dario Bonetti(ASA coach) had resigned , and in his place came Dan Alexa former Rapid Bucharest but i don’t think he is able to change something in short time;
    — and other thing – ASA never won at Medias ;
    ——————————————————————
I think there is no reason to not take the home win, but it’s a cup game and who knows , that’s why i’ll take Medias to score over 1.5 goals, Medias at home scored 2 in all games so far , and ASA conceded at least 2 in all games ;)
Bet : Medias – TG Mures – Medias over 1.5 goals @ 1.80 Unibet (NAP)

Rafael van der Vaart is most likely to be presented as a new signing for FC Midtjylland at 3pm. This is a big name (all be it aging) for Danish football. There might be a bit of a fight for the title this year after all.

FCK are still the favourites by a long way imo.

Well done last night Mr F / especially on league cup night! ??

Your comment about Hibs being blown away was spot on! They were blown away as QOS scored three goals, Hibs scored just once , haha!

    • Johnb 8 years ago

      Blown away means outplayed, outclassed
All they did was take 3 of their 4 chances which is what matters,
If you watched the game you would have seen how bad they were but hey ho look on the bright side, it was only the wee cup lol

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Blown away means what you want it to mean. In this case like it or not Hibs were blown away by three goals in the second half.
I know how the game went and commented a few times on how Hibs should have had the game won.

Does anyone know if they are doing it or has anyone had bet365‘s ‘new season deposit match bonus’ this year?

I’ve had it last 2 years – 50% up to a £400 deposit. I know they have been fined heavily in Australia recently over misleading new customers on the ‘deposit match for new customers bonus’ – not sure if that is a factor in why it hasn’t been done this year?

    • bixieupnorth 8 years ago

i got a 25% deposit bonus email today, but i never know if its worth it, to get the maximum you’d need to deposit £400 to receive £100 bonus, then have to bet £400 before the £100 is released, and then bet £1500 before you can withdraw if i’m reading it right, think i’ll say thanks but no thanks!!

Agree Sean. Crusaders should hammer Carrick who lost at Glenavon on Saturday and Crusaders easily put 5 past Ballymena.

Linfield also won on Saturday and really can’t afford to let Crusaders into an early lead in the title race. They should do the job against Coleraine who did not play on Saturday and will be short of fitness compared to Linfield!

    • dc john boy 8 years ago

Cheers Alex, glad u got on

  23. Johnb 8 years ago

I said it on Saturday and all Lennon could do was praise the team and say how well they played,
I agree Hibs played better than Falkirk on Saturday and they looked a couple of divisions better than them,
Last night was the biggest mismatch you will ever see in world football, to be honest for the whole game Qos looked a team that had been put together that day with people who had never played the sport before, the difference in class was too big to explain,
but at least Lennon has come out and slated the players which is something he should have done on Saturday because as I have said before about England, it’s pointless playing all this possession football, looking good but not being able to put the ball in the net
One goal last night, not good enough,
Two goals Saturday, not good enough,
With the squad Hibs have they should be scoring 4 & 5 goals every game and that’s not disrespecting the other teams in the league, it’s reality.

I know what I’m talking about in most sports, I see what a lot of people can’t, I don’t get blinded by the truth.
I highlighted England before the Euro’s, nobody would listen but instead said I was just against England winning when in reality it’s just being unbiased and level headed,
I stand by Newcastle not winning the Championship and Rangers might scrape third place but I don’t expect people to listen.
I am unbiased which is the only way to be when gambling even with my own team I am unbiased but believe this, Hibernian will win the Championship by 20 points this season because that the difference in class

    • alex_mufc83 8 years ago

I don’t think Newcastle will win the Championship either TBH

Not sold on Hibs, but will keep an eye on their next game, see how they play

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

I’m sorry John but you’re way too biased when it comes to Hibs.
I reckon they’ll win the league but to say things like they should win by 4 or 5 goals every game is crazy.
That’s never going to happen with a team like Hibs – Barcelona maybe.
But don’t worry about it – I say daft things bout my team too.
Regarding England in the Euros I didn’t see anyone tipping them to win it.

    • john smith 8 years ago

20 points clear, winning most games by 4/5 gls, ? Not going to happen i’m afraid but its ok to dream. Hibs are no better than last year its just the competition down in the championship is a lot weaker, including Hibs bogey team Falkirk who lost their best players. QOS sliced through that defence with ease and Cummings showed why no bigger teams came in for him. Hibs are favs for the league but Dundee Utd may well improve as the season progresses……

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

I take a lot of what Johnb says about Hibs with a pinch of salt and he knows that.
All fans are biased towards their side and there’s nothing wrong with that but I don’t bet with my heart I bet with my wallet.
I said last week it’s between Hibs and United and that should be the case.
Great start for Gavin Skelton at Queen of the South though – he’ll soon be as famous as his little sister.

Mr f thanks for the mentions again. Polish league is not my 100% speciality but I have polish cable tv so watch a lot of the polish games and obviously pick up on team news etc so have a slight edge.

Today we have the polish cup. This is taken quite seriously in poland and 2 ekstraklasa teams up against weaker opponents should do the business today.

2 games one at 4pm and one at 4.30.
    Pogon Szczecin 1.50
    Slask wroclaw DNB 1.50
    Double pays 2.25

    Finland: FC Inter v PK-35

    PK-35 goal before 79.00 11/10

PK-35 may be rooted to the botom of the league, but they do tend to be involved in some relatively high scoring games, and regularly notch themselves. In fact BTTS has come up in 9 out of their last 10 matches. Inter themselves sit second bottom, and have somehow drawn 0-0 in their last 3 games! However, they have conceded in 3 out of their last 5 home games.

7 out of Inter’s last 10 have been 0-0 at half time – HT draw (6/4)

This could well end up being a 0-0 or a 1-0 Inter win, but I feel that the odds are generous for PK-35 to score considering they’ll have nearly 80 minutes to do so at odds against. I’ll hedge my bets slightly with a smaller bet the half time draw at 6/4 – here’s hoping for 0-0 at half time and a PK-35 goal just after the break! Odds are shortening since I placed yesterday:

    PK-35 goal before 79.00 @ 11/8 (odds now down to 11/10)
FC Inter NCS @ Evens (now 4/5)
    HT draw @ 6/4

Been looking at Dundalk game, might b wrong here but think Btts has a great chance!,
bray are fighting to stay in the division so will b going for it , are unbeaten in 6 in the league, are strongest at home and are playing Dundalk at a good time ,
Dundalk manager has promised to play strong team but its clear that they will have one eye on champions league.
Still think Dundalk will win but think bray can nick one.
Last few tips I posted have won let’s hope it continues,
    Btts,
Other considerations , over 2.5 mg, Dundalk and btts . gl all.

Is a bit risky but, worth a punt,
There hasn’t been a goalless draw between the sides since April 2011.
Dundalk also missing a couple of players .

    Afternoons

Haven’t had a chance to look at to days games in great detail yet

In the meantime, there are 6 top flight Finnish games kicking off 4.30pm

Going to back 5 of them ( leaving out the Vassa match) for early goals

    10, 20, 30 and 40 mins markets

Will appear about 5-10 mins before kickoff!

Dundalk are expected to revert back to their strongest available line-up for the visit to Bray, having rested all of the regular first-teamers for Monday night’s 3-2 victory over an Everton XI at Oriel Park.
Dundalk manager says “It’s a very important game for us in Bray on Wednesday night. It’s going to be a difficult game for the team in the Carlisle Grounds. We know that we are going to have a magnificent support in the Aviva Stadium next week for the Champions League play-off with Legia Warsaw but it is in Bray that we need them this week.

Confidence was high for the Night Owl but true to current form, it resulted in a spectacular 0-0 scoreline ensuring my bets were resounding losers ?

We move on and will attempt to stop the rot with the following:

Germany take on Fiji tonight at 20.00 in the Mens Olympic footy and it should be a rout for ze Germans.

I’ll take the 1.950 for 7.5,8.0 Goal Line with 365.

Main selections come from The National League North and it’s early days so sensible stakes the way although I fancy a few goals…

BRADFORD PARK AVENUE VS. CURZON ASHTON (19.45 KO):

BPA are one of my ‘go-to’ team for Conference goals these last few years and tonight they play host to Curzon Ashton who were spanked 6-1 by Kidderminster on the opening day.

BPA themselves were held 1-1 by Gainsborough Trinity and including 1 friendly (2-2 draw with Bradford City) and the tail end of last season, 5 of their last 6 have seen both teams scoring.

    BPA OVER 1.5 TGS…EVENS

    BTTS & OVERS…13/10

    BTTS 2ND HALF…5/2

Number of games on the Icelandic card and a few potential banans skins – my pick would be IR Reykjavic -1 on the h/cap against Hottur which pays evens.

IR haven’t conceded in 6 and Hottur shouldn’t pose them too many problems.

Best of luck with all bets.

    Posted earlier –

Today we have the polish cup. This is taken quite seriously in poland and 2 ekstraklasa teams up against weaker opponents should do the business today.

2 games one at 4pm and one at 4.30.
    Pogon Szczecin 1.50
    Slask wroclaw DNB 1.50
    Double pays 2.25

Only taking slask Wrocław dnb as their opponents are 2nd league whilst pogon Szczecin opponents are 3rd league.

Glad I took Slask Wroclaw DNB as they give away a penalty in 80 minute to draw 1-1. Double becomes a single – which wins at 1.50.

For anyone interested Barca line up –

    13.Bravo 3.Piqué 4.Rakitic 5.Sergio 7.Arda 8.Iniesta 9.Suárez 10.Messi 19.Digne 20.S.Roberto 24.Mathieu

Cannot believe how well Celtic played that first half. Last time I seen them play that well was when Larson and co. were there. Once Celtic scored that first I was afraid they would sit back and invite pressure. Instead they actually went and attacked more which is something I haven’t seen them do in a very long time. Im delighted to see Ambrose is dropped and hopefully will be sold, not to mention Leigh Griffiths isn’t even fit.

Night Owl and over to SA for some Copa Libertadores action…

UNIV. CONCEPCIÓN VS. BOLÍVAR (23.00 KO):

Concepcion start this one clear favourites and I don’t doubt they should win all 3 points on home soil – the question is, can Bolivar play any part?

La Paz is Bolivar’s stomping ground and the climate advantage for home games is something we’ve discussed on the site before and often a factor for poorer ‘away’ results so that’s clearly a massive factor.

However, I’ve trawled through the Bolivian sides last 10 Copa Libertadores games stretching back over the last 4 years and in only 1 game have they failed to score a goal…some stat.

    BTTS…11/10

    CONCEPCION WIN & BTTS…10/3

    Good luck.

    5 Fold @ 4.1/1 (£10) WON
    Burton/Bury Over 1.5
    Fleetwood/Leeds Over 1.5
    Celtic/Motherwell Over 2.5
    Ballymena/Glenavon Over 2.5
    Carrick/Crusaders Over 2.5
Another late goal brings in the bet thanks to Leeds in 90th min after goals at 87/92 min for my bet yesterday.

Anyone who bet on Linfield win, I would say stay clear of them till a maybe 6th match or so into the new season, as they were poor again tonight lucky to come out of it with a draw, they were scrappy on Saturday but won 2-1, lacking cutting edge up front at the min. They play away to Crusaders this Saturday of which they have had a poor record against over last 3/4 season.
