THERE were plenty of goals in the Challenge Cup last weekend and I’m hoping for more of the same in League Cup.
We don’t have much form to go on but Livingston v Clyde is a repeat of last weekend.
It finished 2-1 to the Championship side and hopefully we’ll get more of the same in the way of goals.
Dumbarton romped 3-0 ahead of Morton before being pegged back to 3-2 and will head to East Fife full of confidence. The Fifers did well to score at Falkirk before going down 3-1. Interestingly four of their last five competitive matches have finished in 3-1 wins or defeats.
I was eyeing a League Cup treble but instead decided to go with Wolfsburg v Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup. Cup winners Wolfsburg have home advantage and are boosted by not losing star man Kevin de Bruyne. Bayern have retained Thomas Muller and will be looking for big things from Chile star Arturo Vidal.
The fixture has a history of goals – last season it was 4-1 Wolfsburg and 2-1 Bayern – as does the Super Cup and I expect both to score in a thrilling curtain raiser.
1pt Both teams to score
East Fife v Dumbarton
Livingston v Clyde
Wolfsburg v Bayern Munich (7.30pm)
