IT was a pretty decent Tuesday night even if it could have been better.
My Super Single of Ross County draw no bet was a 19-20 winner and having toyed with the taking Motherwell I'd have been less than chuffed if they hadn't beaten St Johnstone.
I took Well on a 12-1 Trixie with Bristol City and Malaga so two correct made a small profit. The over 2.5 goals treble went down at the first hurdle as Wolfsburg only beat Freiburg 1-0 in the German Cup.
For my Daily Record column on Wednesday I've once again focused on the Scottish Premiership and I'm tempted by Dundee at home to Dundee United. November 5, 2004 was the last time Dundee won this derby – and it's been eight damaging defeats and two draws since. But tonight they'll believe this is their best chance of setting the record straight against a side who have suffered seven defeats in nine.
Saturday's loss at home to Ross County was the latest damp squib for Jackie McNamara's men and the boss is caught up in an ugly row with fans about his cut of transfer fees. It's business as usual for Dundee who are eyeing a top-six slot after two defeats in 12 and if Dee believe it they can win this. I'm taking a chance on them at a best 7-4 at Betfred.
United are 7-4 at Coral so bookies can't split the pair while the draw pays 5-2 at McBookie and BetVictor. There have been 14 goals in three meetings this season so stats suggest over 2.5 at 17-20 with McBookie.
Celtic should march on towards the title with a straightforward win against Partick Thistle. The Hoops are no bigger than 1-5 so for some value consider Celtic minus one at 1-2 with sportingbet.
Aberdeen dropped two more points at home to Partick at the weekend and have another test in the shape of Inverness and a draw is possible between two off-form sides.
In the Championship back Hearts to be stung by criticism of their display against Rangers and beat Alloa. They are short again at 3-10 so try the Jambos minus two Asian Handicap at 5-4 with bet365. That's the Super Single – stake back if they win by two. Allao will be on a low after their 4-0 Challenge Cup Final defeat to Livingston and they've lost 4-1, 2-0 and 1-0 to the Jambos this season.
I like Raith at home to Cowdenbeath and Hibs must beat Dumbarton after three defeats in a row I'm not touching them at 4-7 with bet365 and Paddy Power.
Big game in England is the FA Cup quarter-final replay between Blackburn and Liverpool and I'd rather look at a goals bet than the Anfield men at 4-6 with William Hill.
On the continent it could be all about goals. Barcelona entertain an Almeria side – now with ex-Nou Camp ace Sergi in charge – whose squad is decimated after five red cards in five games. Five defenders are sidelines including first-choice Verza and Mauro dos Santos.
Almeria have conceded 13 in their last six on the road and it's fair to assume Barca could run riot days after Real Madrid hit nine past Granada. Barca are as short as 1-33 with Coral so I'm going for them to score 3.5 plus at 11-17 with 888sport.
Cristiano Ronaldo netted five against Granada – not scoring first though – so it's tough to ignore him to net at Rayo even if he is just 9-20 at Ladbrokes. Real beat Rayo 5-1 at home earlier in the season and 3-2 away last campaign so there should be plenty of goals if they're in the mood.
Complete a goals-based treble with both to score at Napoli v Lazio. This semi-final is finely poised after a 1-1 draw in Rome but Lazio look in decent shape after a run of four wins in a row – scoring 11. Napoli have been struggling of late but in three of their last four at home to the Romans they have netted at least three times.
For those with staking power I'd recommend Celtic and Real to win, Barca -1 and Borussia Moenchengladbach in their German Cup at second tier Arminia.
Bayern Munich should beat Bayer Leverkusen away in the other tie but the home men have conceded one goal in six games and that was away to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
PSG are no bigger than 4-9 to beat St Etienne in the French Cup and should do so if they put out a full-strength side. They've beaten Saints three times this season – 5-0 and two 1-0s.

Not liking the look United in this game but I can see us scoring and conceding. BTTS pays 4/6 which is too short for me so I’m going with over 2.5 goals and BTTS @ 21/20. I can honestly see us losing this and this score is likely to be 2-1 or 3-1 Dundee. Looking at potential goalscorers, I really like the look of Greg Stewart to score @ 9/4. He scored a cracking free kick against us at Tannadice in the 6-2 demolition on New Year’s Day and I can see him snatching another in this game. The big man at centre back, Fojut, is always a danger from set pieces and if he starts tomorrow then he’s worth backing to score anytime.

Both teams are missing a few players… Blackburn won 3-0 away at Leeds four days ago, but previous to that lost there last few home games… Liverpool’s form isn’t exactly a bed of rose’s either, so with form out the window & nothing really to go on other than the strength of Blackburn’s will vs the strength of Liverpool’s desire to win something this season, I can’t even decide so I’m avoiding the game completely as far as wagers go.
Zenit have a fairly awkward record against Grozni, but are in form the last 8 games compared to there opponents, so I’d take them on a lesser stakes bet.
The safest bet on Deportivo vs Cordoba would be the DNB for Deportivo, simply because they are the only two outcomes I’d consider happening anyway & they are none too pretty with scoring. The last time they played in November, it was a 0-0 draw.
Deportivo are 8/11 for the win, but the DNB is 3/10, not great, but still, better than punting with gut at the Liverpool game.
Lokomotiv vs Torpedo… They are both in about the same form as each other, Lokomotiv won last time away in November against Torpedo. Lokomotiv also have the 2nd best defensive record only to Zenit, plus they are above form at home compared to there league position, so I’d gamble on Lokomotiv for the 1/2 odds.
Lastly Celta Vigo, looking at all the stats, tell me they should win or at the very least draw with Granada. For the win they are 11/8 and for the DNB they are 4/6, either way, my riskier bet for lesser stakes would include them along with the above other riskier bets.

There’s so many tempting bets in the Scottish side of things, but I’ve been burnt far too often to chance even Raith & Hibs today, but that’s just me :)

att odds 1.57 at leat I would be looking at a percentage at least around 70% to make the mathematics Point towards long-term protfit.

at odds 1.17 you would need a percentage of around 90% to have long-term profit.

Food for thought in light of Villa’s draw with QPR and QPR’s remarkable win at West Brom.
When you look at previous seasons there is usually a strong finish to the end of the season for the teams at the bottom. QPR have picked up four points from two away games. Leicester got their first win in eight. Sunderland got an important win against Newcastle and Burnley held Spurs to a 0-0 draw.
A couple of weeks ago I would have laughed at myself for suggesting this (even as a Wolves fan)

Now West Brom under Alan Irvine were relegation fodder, they were doomed and Pulis came in and brought some good vital wins. Its been all hunky dory until recently. Two defeats to Aston Villa in a week (who at the time couldn’t buy a goal) were quickly forgotten when Pulis dismantled Stoke 1-0. They could then have been forgiven for losing 3-0 at Man City as there next home game against QPR was a home banker. QPR destroyed a shambolic West Brom team in that one.
My point is West Brom need three points to be sure of survival at my guesstimation.

All things aside if the teams at the bottom don’t pick any points up then its all irrelevant. I just personally feel at 33/1 West Brom are a very tasty price for a nibble on to go down.

My logic here is these two are in an arms race against each other towards the close of the season and both desperate to out do each other in the goalscorer’s charts. After Ronaldo bagged 5 goals at the weekend against lowly Granada his confidence will be brimming away at Rayo tonight and i wouldn’t be at all suprised to see him bag a couple on the road to add to his impressive last game that he had.
With Barcelona playing at home you know there will be goals, penalties, free kicks galore at the Nou Camp and Messi to score 2 or more against lowly team at Home is always in with a chance! I landed a Messi to score 2 or more goals bet a couple of weeks ago when they played Levante and he was 5/4 that day so this again represents great value. Almeria are struggling in 17th place in the league and shipped 4 goals at home against Levante at the weekend so a trip to the Nou Camp with confidence low should set the ideal setting for Messi to bag a couple, particulary with Neymar out of form the onus will be on himself and Suarez to run riot. I see this as a high scoring win for Barca and with Almeria having recently changed manager and consistently conceding 2,3,4 goals away from home this completes a tasty looking double at nice odds

nice little article here betting on obscure footy. can be profitable as bookies arent so clued up about it but reading what the guy says you need to spend hours upon hours to profit well. Tee, it’s not telling me anything I didn’t already know. I know a couple of pro gamblers and most are up all night doing inplay bets on anything that’s on. They treat it like a job – 8-10 hours a day, 5-7 days a week. If they make £20 an hour they can earn £1000 a week tax free.
Fair point mr fixit. Its not something I really thought about. I just chuck a £20-25 on something obscure after 5 mins on soccerway. everyone has losers but i think the most important thing is how you react to those losers. Ive seen your staking plan and whilst its good i just dont have that bank to support it. even after a few years of gambling im still looking for a ‘proper’ way to gamble. i come on here and see plenty of tips and winners and its tough to ignore. Discipline is key i think

Daniel, mainly because of their staking power. One guy I know never bets on anything bigger than 1-10 and if you can monitor inplay prices you can catch good opportunities. Anyone could become a pro if they treat it like a job and start with a big betting bank they can afford to lose.
Never posted but thought I’d throw out some stuff.
Just a warning on Napoli/Lazio BTTS – Lazio have kept 3 clean sheets in last four whilst Benitez’s side have scored just 1 in last 3. For a side who have won 7 out of last 8, Lazio are massive at 3.4 against a side who have won 1 of their last 8. Lazio to nil is a big 5/1 but I’m playing it safe with Lazio double chance at 1.7 (which is still huge given the circumstances).
St Etienne might be a nice selection for those who like an outsider. 7/1 to win – they have begun to impress lately having won four and drawn one. St Etienne have 2 days more rest and Blanc has spoke of tiredness after the Marseille win for players such as Ibra whilst he has some key figures out – Cavani misses, Motta and Luiz are injured and Lucas Moura may not be fit. PSG are unbeaten at home since the turn of the year so St Etienne double chance at 2.8 may be worth a look.

3rd placed Pirates entertain 11th placed Stars in tonights meeting. The Pirates will want to win as they chase down Sundowns who sit one place above them. They have won their last 5 at home and have scored in their last 6 on home soil. They have scored 36 overall in 24 games and conceded 20. 19 of their goals scored and 11 of those conceded came in 12 games at home. The Pirates have seen both sides net in 13 games this season and 7 times at home. They have scored in 20 of 24 games and 11 of 12 at home, Orlando haven’t kept a clean sheet in 15 games this season and only managed 4 clean sheets at home. They have seen overs in exactly half of their games (12) and also half at home (6) The pirates have score 2 or more in 5 of 12 home games and have scored against every team at home besides top of the league, Kaizer Chiefs.Only one injury for the Pirates and that comes in the form of Siyabonga Songheni.
Platinum Stars have had a very average season but what i have noticed is that they can score goals and have netted 22 times with 11 coming away. They have conceded 30 times and dropped 19 on away soil. In their away games they tend to see more goals, 6 of their 11 away have gone overs and the same number have seen both sides score. The Stars are definitely more capable of scoring on the road, they have managed to score 15 times this season in 23 games, but have only failed to score in 2 of their 11 away, they have conceded in 8 of the 11 on the road also. One interesting point is that in the 8 of the 11 they have conceded, they have conceded at least twice everytime, this suggests the fall apart easily. Im confident Orlando will score at home tonight and if they do this record indicates they’ll get another at least. The stars as mentioned can score on the road and have done so in 6 of the 7 away games against teams higher in the table. This included scoring twice in a 2-2 draw with top dogs Kaizer Chiefs.
The head to head shows Orlando are the better side having won 3 of the last 6, 2 ended in 1-1 draws and the other was won 2-1 by Platinum stars. Both sides have scored in 3 of the meetings, all 3 won by Orlando have been to nil and Orlando have scored 2 or more in the last 3 games H2H. The last 2 H2H at Orlando have seen both teams score.
Both teams to score is very decently priced at 2.37 with Coral and you can get o1.5 Orlando goals at 1.91 with the same firm. I fancy both of these bets but BTTS offers more value in my eyes

Orebro V IFK Goteborg – Swedish Allsvenskan – 18:00 – 08/04/2015
Only one game into the campaign so far, Orebro got a credible away draw 1-1 at Norkopping after falling behind early on. Its hard to tell where teams are at early in the season so i’ll have to provide stats from last year. I know that Orebro had a good pre season so thats a positive in terms of mentality. Last year Orebro scored a lot of goals, they hit 58 across the 30 games, they also conceded a relatively high amount, 44. At home they scored 33 times and let in 22, their hope games always provided goals and averaged 3.67 per game. 19 of Orebro’s 30 games went overs and 10 of 15 at home hit the higher bracket. They managed to score in 25 games and concede in 25 games, similar at home in which they scored in 13 and conceded in 12. They won 7 times in front of their own fans, losing 4 and drawing 4. They had the 8th best home record. Alhassan Kamara will miss this evenings game through injury and Erik Moberg is a doubt. Michael Seaton who was singed in the transfer window could play but its not conclusive if his papers have been submitted in time for today.
Goteborg where a very capable side last term and scored the exact same as Orebro (58) however they conceded considerably less which allowed them to finish third in the top flight. They conceded 10 less than tonights opponents (34) 20 of the goals they scored came away from home and 19 of those conceded. This lead to them having an average of 2.60 goals per away game with 7 of 15 going overs, overall they seen 18 of their 30 games go overs. They kept 10 clean sheets last season but only 4 away from home and they managed to score in 23 matches, 11 of the 15 away. They only having one squad member missing tonight, and that is Adam Johansson who has a thigh injury.
Head to head between these 2 sides shows that Goteborg won both of the games last season but only one of the 4 prior meetings. Orebro have won twice both 1-0 victories and one game in the last 6 ended 2-2. Both meetings last season seen o2.5 goals and both teams scoring, at Orebro (Most recent) the game ended 3-4 to Goteborg’s advantage, the other meeting finished 2-1 to Goteborg.
I think we’ll see both sides score today and follow on from last seasons meetings. I certainly think Orebro will score at home and considering Goteborg are favourites you have to expect them to net also especially with the homeside conceding in 80% of their home games last term. BTTS is best price 1.80 at Ladbrokes and i think we’ll see O2.5 match goals also. Last night i got stung with O2.5/BTTS because i was greedy.. my original thoughts was to go BTTS only on the Charlton V Fulham game and it ended 1-1. However the difference in price in that one was minimal and thats where the mistake lay.. not to mention i should of covered. In this match, Both teams to score and over 2.5 is 2.25 with Bet365 which is a considerable difference. Purely on the fact neither of these 2 teams seen their opening game finish with o2.5, I’m going to play it a little safer and take the lower option.

Evening Guys, FA Cup Replay
Since the first game this as become a massive game for Liverpool as their top four dreams are hanging by a thread. They go to Ewood with several defensive injuries and while Blackburn have a few doubts on Spearing cup tied I like last night game fancy goals.
Blackburn have beaten Stoke and Swansea this season 4-1 and 3-1 and won at the weekend 3-0. In Rhodes and Gestede (who is a doubt) they have 31 goals between and that will give Liverpool vulnerable backline a few problems tonight. Liverpool have scored in 10 of their 13 away games so I want to be on both teams to score at 19/20 Ladbrokes. I also like O2.5 match goals at 10/11 Skybet.
In the goal scorer market, I want to be with Daniel Sturridge. He is expected to start and if he does he will be the man to fire Liverpool into the semis. He as 10 goals in 13 FA cup starts and is 8/5 at 888sport. For Blackburn it is Jordan Rhodes for me he has 17 goals this season and with Liverpool looking far from solid at the back I think he could get chances tonight. He is 31/10 Ladbrokes.

Straight away I’m looking at goals in this one as you do with most German matches. Leverkusen have actually gone without conceding in their last 5 games and they won them all. However the only opponent of note in my eyes was a 1-0 away victory at Schalke.. the other 4 games against Lowly relegation battling Paderborn, Stuttgart,Hamburg and Freiburg.. you would have to expect Bayern to offer more threat to their goal today. Leverkusen will offer their own attacking threat with the likes of Kiessling leading the line. They have scored 49 times across 27 in the league this season and conceded 29. 31 of their goals have been netted at home with 15 being conceded. They have seen an average of 3.29 goals at home and have conceded in 7 of 14 whilst scoring in 12. Bayer have scored in their last 9 games in the league and as mentioned not conceded in 5. Robbie Kruse is the only man not available for selection tonight.
There isn’t much i can say about Bayern which isn’t common knowledge, they are obviously top of the league and obviously favourite for the tournament. However Wolfsburg progressed yesterday 1-0 against Freiburg and I’m sure Leverkusen will have something to say about Bayern taking yet another Pokal back to Bavaria. Leverkusens recent run of clean sheets is surely set to end tonight considering the men from Munich have netted a massive 71 times in 27 games with 31 being scored in 14 away. They have also scored in their last 10 away games. The thing about Bayern is they dominate possession and territory, the game is going to be predominately played in Leverkusen half, probably their final third but i think the German champions are vulnerable on the counter. Ive seen them concede against lesser teams recently, i watched them play Hannover 96 and they conceded 1.. but it really could of been 2 or 3. Not liking the look United in this game but I can see us scoring and conceding. BTTS pays 4/6 which is too short for me so I’m going with over 2.5 goals and BTTS @ 21/20. I can honestly see us losing this and this score is likely to be 2-1 or 3-1 Dundee. Looking at potential goalscorers, I really like the look of Greg Stewart to score @ 9/4. He scored a cracking free kick against us at Tannadice in the 6-2 demolition on New Year’s Day and I can see him snatching another in this game.
