JOHNB’S only tip on Wednesday was a non-runner so it’s as you were.

He remains 3.75pts up for April and has picked a big-priced each-way nap for Thursday at Aintree.

Johnb’s Thursday Tip

Aintree 4.05
Broken Eagle 40-1 NAP/NB paddy power (double stake 1pt eachway 1/5 odds 1-2-3-4)

Broken Eagle NAP/NB

Another one where I can’t really say a lot but this horse has had this race as his target for over a year now. He has been deliberately kept to point to points to try and keep him under the bookies radar and it has worked as 40-1 is well above what he should be, the distance is spot on and the going is perfect for him. His form in the book isn’t bad but he hasn’t been 100 per cent fit so he will be a lot better at Aintree and just happy he has got here safe and well.

Not a bad start to the new season with 3 winners one of which was recommended double stake. Pity the 2 others could only manage to finish in the places.

Just finalising selections here I will post later.

Well done to all winners yesterday and good luck for today

That’s the Grand National offer at 365 live, usially doesn’t start til Saturday but it’s up early this year. Get your EW stake back as cash and it’s usually in before the race too so can keep on betting different horses til race starts.£125 max refund. Last qualifying time is before 12 on Saturday so might’ve stopped that. Great offer anyway

    Afternoon all,

What a fantastic day of racing we have in store today! I’m hopeful of a few winners to get me back on track this month.

    13.45 Aintree:

An interesting renewal that really should go to Top Notch based on his second to Yorkhill at the festival. He is a very small horse and I had my doubts about him taking to Cheltenham but he ran a cracker and might have even won barring a mistake 2 from home. If he repeats that effort he will be very hard to beat and looks worth of an investment. Cloudy Dream looks like a threat if staying the longer trip, I have backed this horse a few times this season and he boasts some rock solid form in the book. He ran well for second in the Arkle but would have undoubtably finished 3rd had Charbel stood up. He will be suited by the small field and the drying ground but I am unsure where he has the class to land this prize. The main danger to Top Notch may come from Frodon who side stepped Cheltenham to run here and with conditions very much in his favour he could go very close.

    Top Notch – 7.5 points win @ 6/4
    Frodon – 1 point win @ 6/1
    Frodon w/o Top Notch – 2 points @ 3/1
    + 0.5 reverse forecast

    14.20 Aintree:

It is impossible to get away from Defi Du Sueil who romped home in the Triumph last time. It would be a shock to all if he failed to land this prize. That said I am confident that there is more to come from Divin Bere who I confidently backed at the festival. He finished a neck second in the Fred Winter to Flying Tiger. The slight step up in trip should help his claims and he is worthy of an investment in the w/o markets and a small investment each way . Fourth Bridge ran a cracker at Musselburgh last time on good ground and is worth of a small saver.

    Divin Bere – 1.5 points each way @ 5/1 (1/4 odds 365)
    Divin Bere w/o Fav- 7.5 points win @ 1/1
    Fourth Bridge – 0.75 points each way @ 14/1 (1/4 odds 365)
    Fourth Bridge w/o fav – 1.5 points @ 9/2

    14.50 Aintree:

This is a very trappy race with many holding chances but I am going to stick with Empire of Dirt who I really fancied at the festival. His form with Sizing John has been well franked from the Irish gold cup. I’m not sure what happened to him at Cheltenham he didn’t seem to settle at the back and was always struggling. He did plug on for fourth but it was a disappointing run. I have heard however he has come out of that race well and connections are hopeful of a better showing. Aso ran a cracking in the Ryanair and looks worth of a small investment as well.

    Empire of Dirt – 3 points win @ 11/4
    Aso- 0.5 points each way @ 20/1

    15.25 Aintree:

I would be very surprised if champion hurdle hero Buveur D’Air didn’t win this with ease. His win a Cheltenham was very impressive and he should take all the beating. For a small interest I’m going to play an each way on My Tent Or Yours w/o Buveur D’Air as the old boy ran a really good race at Cheltenham and looks to have every chance of chasing home his stablemate.

My Tent Or Yours w/o fav – 0.5 points each way @ 7/2

    16.05 Aintree:

Foxhunters hero Pacha Du Polder returns to action in the Aintree race over the big obstacles. He ran well to finish 6th in this race last year and looks to hold every chance. As does On The Fridge who looks for a three timer in this race. Both horses are tried over these fences and look like the two to concentrate on, but anything can happen over these larger fences.

    On The Fridge – 3 points win @ 2/1
Pacha Du Polder – 2 points each way @ 9/2 (5places at Skybet)
    0.5 reverse forecast.

    16.40 Aintree:

Tough looking handicap as ever my 4 against the field are:

    Double W’s – 0.75 points each way @ 11/2 (4 places paddypower)
    Theinval – 0.75 points each way @ 6/1 (4 places paddypower)
    Bun Doran – 0.75 points each way @ 11/1 (4 places paddypower)
    Parsnip Pete – 0.75 points each way @ 16/1 (4 places paddypower)

    17.15 Aintree:

Petticoat Tails should be hard to beat in this competitive bumper and looks worth of an investment but I can’t resist a few small each ways on a number of other promising horses.

Petticoat Tails – 1.5 points each way @ 5/1 (1/4 odds in places)
    Maria’s Benefit – 0.5 points each way @ 14/1 (1/4 odds in places)
Redemption Song – 0.5 points each way @ 16/1 (1/4 odds in places)
Dame Rose – 0.5 points each way @ 16/1 (1/4 odds in places)
Martello Park – 0.5 points each way @ 20/1 (1/4 odds in places)

    17.25 Southwell:

Dark Forest has been sitting in my tracker for a few weeks now after winning well at Southwell over 7f in January. Since then he has ran good races against Custer the Dragon and Hammer gun (both progressive horses). With nothing as progressive lurking in this race he looks worth of a small bet. The drop to 6f should be fine.

    Dark Forest – 1.5 points win @ 11/4

    17.30 Limerick:

I backed Debuchet when he ran a fantastic second in the champion bumper last time. 4 year olds have a very poor record in the race and therefore his effort should be uprated. I see there has been money for High Tide this morning in this valuable bumper but Debuchet should have the class to win this race and move onto better things. I can’t ignore the 1/1 available on him this afternoon.

    Debuchet – 7.5 points win @ 1/1

    Other bets:

1 point trixie on Top Notch, Divin Bere w/o the fav & Debuchet.

Many thanks and GL to all

(I am unable to give accurate point calculations at the moment until I return to my desk. I am around -50 for April and + 120 overall).

Tough day over all thankfully I landed a few nice bets with Divin Bere w/o fav and Debuchet landing at 1/1. Dame rose (16/1) & Double W’s (8/1) also added to a profit of 13.71 points on the day. Well done to all the winners.
