WE'RE getting to the business end of the season although in the English Premier League none of the top seven are in action today.

That makes it a fight to beat the drop and my English preview has focused on the plight of Sunderland.

I'm actually heading down to the Stadium of Light with a pal who supports Bournemouth – I can't believe I'm missing the Petershill v Clydebank six-pointer.

I've also posted a Scottish preview focusing on Rangers v Celtic and it could be a similar tale to last week's Scottish Cup semi-final with Scott Brown available having had his red card against Ross County downgraded to a yellow.

Most of my picks are reasoned on the two previews and while I've stuck to teams who need points it's diffiuclt to predict how some sides will react to having nothing to play for. Some relax and perform better while others couldn't care and just want to be on the beach.

Good luck with whatever you're betting on – I'm on a train to Newcastle first thing and back late so will try to catch up on what's happening late on.

Last night's treble was a goal short with Inverness failing to net at Ross County while Atalanta v Juventus and Cork v Bray landed. Greg and Jordan were among those who put up winners.

Remember to check out Welovebetting for their tips and video chat.

And if you're having your first bet with 888sport you'll get treble the odds.

It is the final day of the regular season in the three divisions of the National League and there are some crucial matches in store.

The National League South title is a straight fight between Maidenhead United and Ebbsfleet United. The former are two points clear and need to win at relegated Margate to confirm the title and automatic promotion. Ebbsfleet are at home to Oxford City and both challengers will surely win by more than one goal.

The play off in this division is very messy as three clubs (Hungerford Town, Poole Town and Wealdstone) are ineligible for promotion due to ground grading issues. The has left Hampton & Richmond (7th) as the prime beneficiary. They can only enter the play offs if they end up in this position so need to win at home to Concord Rangers otherwise Ebbsfleet in 2nd will gain a bye to the final.

The treble of Maidenhead @-1, Ebbsfleet @-1 and Hampton to win pays just better than 2/1 with Bet365

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Great stuff Rob – been brilliant to see more focus upon the lower leagues this last year on the site from folk – the potential value can knock spots off the upper tiers if you follow closely…best of luck pal.

Mr F enjoy your trip to gods country. I’ll also be there we won’t pick up another point all season. The atmosphere will be toxic David Moyes is going to get dogs abuse for the full 90mins. Aslong as Bournemouth play half decent it will be an away win. Bring back Roy Keane.

    • acsafc 7 years ago

Also if you’re after a decent pint try Fitzgeralds or Isis (Unfortunate name but it’s been Isis for a lot longer than the terrorists)

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Yeah totally agree – I’m on Bournemouth as you see.
Probably head straight back to Newcastle after the game and get a few pints near the station.

Mr F – International Man of Mystery…Cyldebank, Sunderland…be careful, you’ll be heading to even more tropical climes like Humberside if you’re not careful ?

Big weekend for the Mighty Shakers and mathematically, we need to lose AND see both ‘poorer’ sides around us win to get the trapdoor.

Looks great on paper but I’ve been there before and the only Bury based bet I’ll entertain against a strong Southend outfit is the one that has kept us alive all season and has won me plenty of dubloons throughout the year:

    JAMES VAUGHAN ATGS…13/8
    ??

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Be heading to Hull in June but just to catch the ferry – might catch something else if we hang about too long.

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

How very rude Mr F…if you’re going to catch crabs, why not do it in the City of Culture…plenty of tackle shops/chemists on offer ?

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

You can throw some at us – we’ll be in the Betmobile.

  5. robf 7 years ago

The National League North title has already been clinched by AFC Fylde but the play off positions are still undecided. Second placed Kidderminster need to win at home against Bradford PA in order to guarantee this spot and the price of 1/3 reflects their chances.
Stockport County in 7th place can still squeeze into the play offs due to the ground issues facing Darlington. They need a home win and to rely on results elsewhere to continue their season beyond this afternoon. County will be roared on by a big crowd and should beat mid table Gloucester City.
The teams in 3rd-6th all meet each other but these games look too tight to call.

Recommended bet is the double on Kidderminster and Stockport both to win though this only pays a smidgen better than 4/5 with Bet365.

Winner last night (finally. One for today with Reading looking to seal their playoff push while Wigan are scrapping for relegation. The Lactics have to push so that should leave them open against a Reading side who have been clinical at home in recent weeks. Wigan can’t afford a draw so could find themselves left open often.

    Reading Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 4/5 @ StanJames – 2.5 points

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

      Nice winner last night Jordan.

  8. chris guy 7 years ago

    Rangers vs Celtic

For first goalscorer I think I’ll take a wee punt on Scott Brown @ 25/1.

Griffiths to score anytime and be carded 15/1 @ 888sport. This bet is only 5/1 with William Hill. In my opinion it’s like backing Griffiths to score anytime @ 15/1. The yellow card will take care of itself.

Griffiths to score anytime from outside the box @ 16/1 Skybet

Sinclair to score anytime and be booked 30/1 @ 888sport

Perfect scenario will be Griffiths to
Score from outside the box and runs away to celebrate and then the ref books him.

  13. chris guy 7 years ago

Also in my opinion the player most likely to be send off for Rangers is Tavernier. He’s 11/2 with Hills but a huge 30/1 with 888sport

  14. robf 7 years ago

The final round of National League games kick off at 12.15 tomorrow with five teams trying to avoid the last two relegation places.
Braintree Town and York City currently occupy the relegation places and will both need to win to have any chance of survival. Braintree face a tough task away to Aldershot who are already safely in the play offs but may well rest players. York entertain third placed Forest Green and look fair value at 6/5.
The two bets to catch the eye are Guiseley to beat Solihull and Torquay to win at home to relegated North Ferriby.
This double pays a touch better than 6/4 with Bet365.

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Lower league-wise, the only bet I’ll entertain is an on-form striker who may just want to figure despite the odds against his team:

      REECE THOMPSON ATGS…5/2
      ?

Ferriby’s main man and knows how to tuck away a chance.

Old Firm yet again and can see nothing but another comfortable afternoon for Celtic. Rodgers only complaint from last week was they didn’t drive home their advantage with more goals in the 2nd half. Celtic score the majority of their goals in the 2nd half of matches so the 5/4 for most Celtic goals in 2nd half looks appealing.

One player who should continue his comeback from the bench today is Tom Rogic and I can see him coming on at some point when Rangers players are tiring. He’s a goal threat and plays in the hole behind the striker. Going too take a punt on the big Aussie being Celtics last goalscorer at 4/1

    Celtic 2nd half highest goals – 5/4

    Rogic last Celtic scorer 4/1

    • jim burnside 7 years ago

4/1 to b Celtics last scorer that can’t b right surely?????? 40/1 would make sense 4s is absolutely awful.

Sydney FC play Perth Glory tonight in the A-League finals series. Sydney have really been a class beyond anyone this year, and I reckon it’ll show yet again tonight. They only lost a single game all season, and at the Allianz Stadium against the shaky defence of Glory, I do fancy a strong display from the Sky Blues.

With so much on the line tonight, I do fancy cards being shown here as well, as Glory are never far from a card, and cool heads will likely not prevail if one side is getting desperate to win.. or keep the other out.

    Tips:
    Sydney FC – score both halves @ 2.0 (2PT)
    Sydney FC & over 2.5 goals @ 1.95 (2PT)
    Over 5 cards @ 1.95 (2PT)

Best of luck to all tonight on their tips! :)

A short time later I checked my betvictor account and they’d paid me another £12.44. Having had a look at the polish ekstraklasa relegation group for today both matches look good for btts and here are the reasons why.

    PÅ‚ock v ruch

PÅ‚ock have only kept 3 clean sheets this season. Ruch have kept only 6 clean sheets. Ruch need to get points as they are in the relegation spaces and will attack from the start. Btts is priced at evens

    Śląsk Wrocław v leczna
ÅšlÄ…sk have only kept 3 clean sheets all season. Leczna have only kept 4 clean sheets all season. 2 points separate these teams with leczna occupying the bottom spot. Again they need to go for it to get points which should lead to an open match. Btts is priced 1.85.

    Good luck to all today.

  25. double carpet 7 years ago

Going to try 2 at a price today

    barnsley v BURTON 21/10
Barnsley have failed to win any of their last 6 home games drawing the last 5 and have nothing to play for where as Burton need a point to guarantee safety and have only lost to Newcastle in their last 6 aways which includes a win at Huddersfield and a draw at Sheffield wed. They have also only conceded 2 goals in those 6 matches and I can see them taking the 3 points here

    MANSFIELD v portsmouth 2/1

Mansfield surely must win today to have any chance of getting into the playoff’s as there’s so many teams involved in that race. Pompey are already promoted and their season is effectively over

    Saturday Previews

14:30 Borussia Dortmund vs FC Cologne – Prediction 2.2

    Best Bets – BTTS @ 10/11, BTTS and over 2.5 goals @ 11/10
    Bet Confidence – 3 stars, 2.5 stars
Speculative Bets – Koln not to lose @10/3

    Key Facts
Koln are unbeaten in each of their last 6 meetings with Dortmund
Dortmund drew 1.1 at Koln in their last meeting in December while last season’s corresponding fixture finished in a 2.2 draw
Koln have seen BTTS in 9 of their 11 most recent league fixtures
Koln have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last SIX away league fixtures
Koln have seen BTTS in 11 of their last 14 away league fixtures
Koln have lost 4 of their last 5 away league fixtures
Dortmund have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last 5 matches in all competitions
This is Dortmund’s 9th fixture of a hectic month which has seen them eliminated from the Champions League at Monaco while they also crashed out of the DFB pokal at the hands of Bayern on Wednesday

    Final Verdict

BTTS looks too big @10/11 with Dortmund likely to rotate their team following their midweek semi-final game with Bayern in the DFB Pokal.

Koln have an excellent record with Dortmund in recent seasons and while their current form isn’t great, they could take advantage of a fatigued and mentally weakened Dortmund side who must be feeling the effects of a chaotic month which has seen their team bus come under attack prior to their Champions League elimination at the hands of Monaco and after their midweek exertions at Bayern, the hosts might well be somewhat fatigued after a thrilling 3.2 comeback win against the likely champions.

I do expect goals with Dortmund seeing so many thrilling contests lately and with Koln scoring in most of their away games, I’m taking both goal selections at sexy prices of 10/11 and 11/10.

14:30 Werder Bremen vs Hertha Berlin – Prediction 2.1

Best Bets – Werder to score 2 or more @10/11, Werder to win @21/20, Kruse to score anytime @6/4
    Bet Confidence – 3 stars, 2.5 stars, 1 star

    Key Facts
Werder are unbeaten in their last 10 league fixtures with 8 wins and 2 draws representing an incredible turn-around from the Bremen side.
Werder have scored 2 goals or more in 9 of those 10 fixtures
Werder had only won 2 of their previous 13 league fixtures
Werder had seen BTTS in 21 out of 22 home league fixtures but only in 1 of their last 5
Werder have scored 10 goals in their last 4 home league fixtures while they have also managed to score 26 goals in their last 10 league fixtures
Max Kruse has scored 9 goals in his last 7 appearances for Werder including 4 at Ingolstadt last weekend.
Hertha have lost each of their last EIGHT (8) away league fixtures while they conceded 2 goals or more in 5 of those 8 fixtures
Hertha failed to score in 5 of those 8 defeats
Hertha have only won 2 of their last 20 away Bundesliga fixtures. Conversely, Hertha have won 12 of their last 15 home league fixtures
Werder are unbeaten in their last 6 meetings with Hertha with 3 wins and 3 draws
Last season’s corresponding fixture finished 3.3 with Bremen winning this season’s most recent contest 1.0 in Berlin

    Final Verdict
Hertha are very much the definition of a team that only wins at home and I can’t see past another away loss here as they travel to take on a rampant and resurgent Werder Bremen side that are suddenly chasing European qualification with 26 points picked up from their last 30 domestically.

The visitors have lost their last 8 on the road and I can’t see that run ending here with Werder scoring goals for fun and looking like THE form team in Germany at the minute and only 4 points behind their opponents today who had been a full 17 points clear of Werder just 2 months earlier.

Werder to score 2 or more is good @10/11 and while I won’t pick many from the WDW market this weekend, I am really confident in backing Bremen to collect all 3 points @21/20 with that price perhaps likely to shrink before kick-off on Saturday.

    15:15 Real Madrid vs Valencia – Prediction – 3.2

Best Bets – BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored @8/13
    Bet Confidence – 3 stars
Speculative Bet – BTTS in both halves @7/1, Valencia to score 2 or more @5/2

    Key Facts
Each of the last SEVEN meetings between these two sides has seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored.
Valencia scored exactly 2 goals in all 7 of those fixtures including in each of their last 3 visits to the Bernabeu
5 of those 7 matches also saw over 3.5 goals scored
Valencia have seen BTTS in 12 of their last 16 away league fixtures. 11 of those games also went over 2.5 goals
Valencia have won 8 of their last 17 league games having won only 3 of the previous 20
Real have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in 13 of their 15 most recent fixtures in all competitions (pre deportivo result)
Real have seen over 2.5 goals scored in 18 of their last 20 home fixtures.
Real Madrid have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 8 home fixtures in all competitions. 5 of those 6 BTTS matches also saw over 2.5 goals scored
Real have kept only 2 clean sheets in their last 18 fixtures in all competitions.
Real are facing their 9th fixture in just 28 days with Atletico Madrid to follow in the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday. This fixture is Valencia’s 7th in the same period

    Final Verdict
History and recent form dictates that this one should see plenty of goals with each of their last 7 meetings seeing BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored and with 5 of those matches also going over 3.5 goals, we can expect another entertaining contest here with Valencia improving their form since the turn of the year and Real rarely keeping clean sheets.

With Real facing so many important fixtures in the coming days, the squad will surely need to be rotated once again and with Gareth Bale absent as well, Real may struggle to win this fixture as convincingly as their 1/7 odds on price would suggest, and I fully expect the visitors to score at least 1 goal here.

    19:45 Torino vs Sampdoria – Prediction 2.2

Best Bets – BTTS and over 2.5 goals @8/11
    Bet Confidence – 3.5 Stars
    Speculative Bets – 2.2 draw @ 10/1, BTTS in both halves @ 15/2

    Key Facts
Torino have seen BTTS in each of their last 12 league fixtures. 9 of those games also went over 2.5 goals
Torino have seen BTTS in each of their last 7 home league fixtures and in 14 of 16 home league fixtures this season (88%)
Torino have seen over 2.5 goals scored in 13 of their 16 home league fixtures this season
Torino have kept only 2 clean sheets in their last 21 home league fixtures
Torino have lost only 1 of their 16 home fixtures this season (against Juventus) while they have drawn 5 of their last 7 home league fixtures
Torino have drawn 2.2 in 4 of their 16 home fixtures this season including 2 of their last 3 home fixtures
Torino have lost only 1 of their last 8 league fixtures
Torino hitman Andrea Belotti has scored 7 goals in his last 5 home league apperances. The coveted striker has 25 in total for the league campaign.
Sampdoria have seen BTTS in 10 of their last 13 away league fixtures this season
Sampdoria have scored in 12 of their last 13 AWAY league fixtures while they have only failed to score in 5 of their last 29 away fixtures.
Sampdoria have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last 4 league fixtures
Samp have won 3 of their last 5 away league fixtures (@Milan, Inter and Genoa)

    Final Verdict
Goals are the only way to go here with both sides in decent form and battling for mid-table places so I expect an open and entertaining fixture between these two in Turin on Saturday.

Goal prices are short but look reliable when you consider both Torino’s inability to defend and Sampdoria’s excellent record of scoring away from home so BTTS looks completely nailed on @1/2 while I also fancy another 2.2 draw for Torino who have seen that scoreline in 4 out of 16 home fixtures this season. BTTS and over 2.5 goals is short @8/11 but looks highly likely considering the stats and recent form.

Torino are only 3/5 to win and that price reflects their solid home form which has seen them lose just 1 of 16 in Serie A this season however with 5 draws in their last 7 at home, I fancy a repeat here with Sampdoria a decent side on their day and considering only 3 points separate these two sides, I expect a closely fought and high-scoring fixture that is likely to produce goals.

    So that’s your 2.2 explained.

    _______________________________________________________________________________________

    Other fixtures

    14:30 Darmstadt vs Freiburg – Prediction 2.1
    Best Bets – BTTS @7/10
    Bet Confidence – 2 stars

    Key Facts
Darmstadt have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of their last 6 home Bundesliga fixtures
Darmstadt have won 3 of their last 5 home league fixtures while they have also won their 2 most recent league fixtures (2.1 at home to Schalke and 2.1 at Hamburg)
Darmstadt had only won 2 of their previous 20 league fixtures
Despite those 2 wins, the hosts remain bottom of the table and a full 11 points from safety
Darmstadt have scored exactly 2 goals in each of their last 3 league fixtures
Darmstadt have only drawn 1 of their last 24 league games.
Freiburg have seen BTTS in 11 of their 15 away league fixtures this season
Freiburg have kept only 1 clean sheet in their last 18 away league fixtures
Freiburg have won 3 of their last 4 league games as well as 3 of their last 7 on the road

    Final Verdict
This isn’t going to be the NAP of the day but goals have every chance with Darmstadt seemingly playing with much more freedom in recent weeks despite their inevitable relegation back to Bundesliga ii and with Freiburg very solid in the BTTS market in away games, I’ll take a chance on BTTS @4/5 with this one also having a decent chance of going over 2.5 goals as well.

Since the turn of the year Espanyol have scored in 8/9 of there home games in the league, with the resolute Atlético Madrid the only away team to secure a clean sheet. Over the same period Barcelona have conceded in 7/9 of their away games. Add in the caveat of this being a local derby and Espanyol having the opportunity to cost Barcelona the title, I think 5/6 from Betfair for Espanyol to score 1 or more goals has a great chance of coming in.

    Espanyol v Barcelona – Over 0.5 Total Espanyol Goals – 5/6 Betfair

Plymouth Argle have secured promotion with an emphatic 6-1 win against hopeless Newport county.
They are now hoping Don caster slip up against Exeter, who themselves are in the playoffs places.

Being the last game of the season at Home lark I may have my Green Army glasses on but I see them scoring a few here against a Crewe side who have nothing to play for and have been regularly battered away from home.

2 bets for me on the big fight.
1 Joshua to win rounds 7-12 at 5-2.
2 Joshua to win on points as a saver at 11-2.
Klitchko is a proud warrior and it will be a sad end if he gets sparked early.
Joshua won’t be going hung ho early doors, he is too smart for that, and klitchko isn’t really a banger and knows his best chance is to jab his way to victory.
If it does end between 7-12 rounds I expect klitchko will be stopped on his feet or his corner or the ref will step in and stop the fight.
Going to be a great night whatever

      BOSH !!!
      5-2 WINNER

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

      Great stuff Elvis!

    • elvis parsley 7 years ago

Tyson fury beat a younger klitchko in his own back yard quite comfortably compared to today’s fight.
Joshua was 2-3 rounds behind for me going into round 11.
If fury gets back to that form, a fight between the 2 could go either way for me.

I noticed deontay wilder gave Joshua a respectful tap on the gloves at the end.
At the moment wilder is the no 1 for me, but Joshua showed a champions heart pulling today’s win out of the fire, so some exciting times ahead in the heavyweight division.

Good stuff today Mr F – just seen the highlights and handbags on MOTD!

Looking at a second Night Owl and a shot at redemtion after the earlier rick….

UNIÓN ESPAÑOLA VS. EVERTON (00.30 KO):

Much of the recent history between these two has been as part of the Chilean Cup competitions but it is well worth noting that 9 of the last 11 have featured both teams scoring.

80% of Espanola’s last 5 have also received the green light and whilst Everton’s recent games are not as prolific, you can’t rule out an away goal with the visitors only failing to score in 3 of their last 12…2 of those were against Iquique and O Higgins, neither of whom are the easiest of sides to play against.

    Two selections to consider here:

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…5/6
    ???

    BTTS 1ST HALF…11/4
    ?

Best of luck all on a late one.

Today sees the second semi-final match between Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar. Last night’s match went to plan, as Sydney dominated Glory, and I’m happy today is as kind to me bet-wise.

Victory have had a solid campaign, and enter this game well-rested and with a full squad, seeing Georgievski return.

Roar have had a very busy week, juggling A-League & ACL duties, and have been complaining in the media about playing so many games at once, and not been well rested. They did however rest a number of key players so they can mount some kind of challenge to Victory. Roar have had a mixed campaign this year, but have had a solid run of form in the league in the last few months. They do see influential McKay and Hingert return today, as well as Arana, but have lost number one keeper Theo again through injury. Second choice keeper Young is also a doubt (although named in the squad) through his freak injury in the ACL last week.

This is likely to be a tight match and a fiery affair. Berisha is rarely far away from a card, and emotions will be high between both clubs, along with a few rash challenges. I do think Victory will edge it, due to the strong possibility that inexperienced third keeper Bilic may be between the sticks for the Roar, but Victory are never completely far away from conceding a goal.

    Tips:
    Over 5.5 cards @ 1.72 (3PT)
    Over 3 goals @ 2.05 (2PT)
    Victory – goal before 39th min @ 1.83 (2PT)
    Victory – score both halves @ 2.50 (1PT)
