THERE will be plenty of issues to be resolved this weekend – especially in the lower leagues – where most teams have two games of the regular season to play.
In the main I’ll be focusing on sides with something to play for an avoiding ones who’d rather be on the beach.
But there are exceptions to the rule and one of those sides could be Swansea at Newcastle. A couple of weeks ago Newcastle were 50-1 to be relegated and the feeling was they needed one win for safety.
That victory hasn’t come and nor has a single point as John Carver’s men have suffered six successive defeats. They remain seven points clear of the drop zone but another defeat at home to the Swans will set alarm bells ringing especially if teams below them pick up points.
A fans’ protest didn’t help last week as Newcastle crashed 3-1 at home to Spurs and while Swansea have nothing to play for themy must be considered at 11-5 with manager Garry Monk keen to hit the 50-point mark as soon as possible.
Swansea are on the Super Single shortlist and I’d welcome comments about them and the others. These picks are based on stats and form but I’ve still to check team news.
