CAN we start April again? After breaking even in March I was hoping to make a good start to the month but Coventry let me down.
I didn't even take them to win and went safer with one point on draw no bet at 21-20 but they crashed to what seems to have been an undeserved 1-0 defeat at home to Orient.
So I'm behind already – or if you prefer up against it – but with plenty of time to turn it around. Friday's a big night for football but on Thursday there's not a lot that catches the eye.
Porto travel to Maritimo for a League Cup semi-final clash and team news for that one will be vital while there is almost a full Serie B card and plenty of lower-league Italian games. Porto are being well tipped and you'd expect them to win but they lost 1-0 at Maritimo in the league this season and also on their last visit to Madeira.
In fact they haven't won on their last three visits so that's a concern. Porto will be keen to set up a final meeting with Benfica while their opponents are chasing a first trophy in 11 years. At the price I have to leave Porto out and have decided not to tip anything for Thursday.

I’ve been betting loosely for a few years now. depositing now and again rather than with an established betting bank. My biggest downfall is greed, before the winnings have even reached my account I’m looking for my next bet which inevitably loses.
However! I’ve decided to begin with a betting bank and turn to the point staking system that many/possibly all of you use. Combining this system to a limitation of 1 or 2 bets a day I hope to establish a more sustainable betting habit.
I was wondering if some of you could advise.. let’s say for instance my betting bank was 1000 and I bet a 10 point stake at evens. it wins and my betting bank becomes 1100. does my next 10 point stake now become 110? is the intention that 10 points represent 10% of the bank.
any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Winston, I’ve said I start at £1000 and withdraw if I reach £1200. And yes the intention is to do 10 per cent of the bank otherwise you’d be doing too much when in deficit.

Winston, find an amount that suits you and stake that on each bet every time and if you are doing the correct research etc and you are winning regularly then you can increase your bet after a while. The focus on withdrawing an amount when winning is fine but it is not happening at present as Mr F broke even after a month and you need to look at it realistically if you are serious about your betting and make sure any poor run can be covered.
I understand what your saying raal, find a winning formula before upping the stakes. more recently I’ve been betting on goals and draw no bet market and picking a double at just under evens approx.

I know Mr F I simply meant anyone looking to bet properly and with discipline etc should concentrate on actually finding the right bets before planning on what to do with regard to winnings.
raaljaca, I think discipline is the hardest part. Most of me wants to be disciplined but a part of me wants to have a go too and in my mind that’s fine as long as it’s small stakes and money I almost expect to lose. Anytime I put up a big stake I’ve got to be pretty confident about the bet winning.

Gaz, 1pt was always on the bet – when I did the write-up last night I added -1 to the 0pts that was there from the end of March and it was correctly quickly. I’m sorry but I’d never put 10pts on a bet like that and everyone knows that. I think I’ve put 10pts on 2 or 3 times max and always near the end of the month. I was pretty sure Coventry wouldn’t lose but also mentioned their home record – one win since October – and that was a concern.

Archie i didnt even realise they romped it so convincingly i turned it off once the 5 goals came in. Nice one. The last 2 head to heads are not so convincing for this game but if you look at ravans goalscoring form at home and the away side have suffered a 4-1 and 3-1 defeat away in last couple of games and one of those was neftcala who are top just by 3 points so theyl want to make sure they win this with ease to get back level. Raven started slow this season but have won their last 9 games at home convincingly apart from one 1-0 win. The rest they have scored between 3 and 6 goals and only conceeded 4.

Both these teams sit dangerously above the relegation spots with Osijek only been out of it because Zadars goal difference is terrible. The recent form of these teams are fairly similar too with both teams only winning twice in the last 6 games but it is Slavens Home record that stands out with them unbeaten in the last 5 league games at home winning the last four. Mix this with Osijeks poor away form, only winning 2 league games on the road since 4th april last year which by the way was against the same team (Zagreb) i am fairly confident in a Home win today. The other stat to look at as well is the H2H which Slaven have won the last 3, and since 2004 Slaven has been at home 15 times, winning 11 drawing 2 losing 2. So im happy to go for the home win here.

Still seeing a couple of ridiculous comments about the yesterday’s Super Single points. 1pt was clearly marked and that was never changed – if I had wanted to go 10 points I would have made a big deal about as I have done on any previous 10-pointers and there haven’t been many.
I think most people know it was a 1pt bet Mr F. After all if it had been a 10pt bet you’d have tonnes of agro before and after the game on yesterday’s thread. It was hardly mentioned (because it was a 1pt bet).

Winterthur sit in 4th place on 38 points, the likelihood of them getting promoted diminishes every week with 3 teams above them and second placed Wohlen (tonights opponents) having 11 more points. They are in poor form and have only won twice in 5 losing the other 3.In these 5 games however the have seen goals… all 5 have gone overs and both teams have netted in 4 of them. Winterthur have conceded in all 5 and scored in 4 failing to net in their last game in which they were humbled 3-0 by 3rd placed Lugano. They are 2nd top scorers in home games this term across the league, they have scored 26 times and conceded 13 over 12 home games. Their record at home is more impressive in terms of points collected having won 9, drawn one and lost just twice. They have kept 6 clean sheets overall, 4 at home and scored in 9 of 12 in their own back yard.Top scorers Joao Paiva (13) and Patrick Bengando (10) are both fit and should start tonight. However they are without the suspended defender Paulinho and the injured trio of Bauhmann, Kransic and Iten, expect their 11 to remain unchanged from last week.
Wohlen are a very strong side in the challenge league and have proved that as they currently sit in 2nd. A win or even a draw would take them top of the tree tonight so they should have the motivation. They can also take heart from the fact they are fantastic away from home, they have won 10 times out of 12, only losing once. They have kept 8 clean sheets on the road and scored in 11. A truly commendable record and one of the best I’ve seen in recent months. They come into this one on poor form by their standards having lost 3 of their last 5 winning the other 2…. but they have won their last 5 away games all to nil. They are like Winterthur at home, big scorers away having managed 22 in 12 only conceding the 6. After reading this I’m sure it comes as no surprise that Wohlen have the best away record in the league having claimed 31 points from a possible 36. Top scorers Roman Buess and Mergim Brahimi should both start and have scored 8 goals each so far. Samir Ramizi who has also scored 8 times is out injured as are Trashcen, Sadiz and Lika.
Head to head is really interesting between these 2, Wohlen have recently dominated… they have won all meeting this term and won 4 in a row without conceding, 2 of which came away from home. Even more interestingly, for 2 teams that score so many goals, the last 8 meetings have seen only one side score, never both.
Wohlen are priced as the underdogs coming into this one and I’m not sure that is a true reflection. I’ll take the argument that Winterthur are good at home having won 9 times but Wohlen sit 11 points ahead of them and have won 10 times away whilst only conceding 6 goals and none in their last 5 away. Wohlen are priced at 3.10 to win tonight with bet365, but considering they have won the last 5 to nil and won the last 4 h2h to nil… a price of 5.10 with 888sport for a repeat seems like value to me. You can even get the away side Draw no Bet at 2.25 with Coral or Paddypower. Follow the trend for the H2H and you can get BTTS at evens with PaddyPower… i hate betting for teams not to score but the value seems understated here tonight. Staking low considering the odds are big but the stats give me confidence, If all goes to plan i might even indulge in a Toblerone.

Cheers Mr F and i know BelfastMark was a strange one, but if you are willing to post winners i think losers should be posted.
Just wanted to say the reason i do these big write ups is it takes me 45 mins or so to do each. I actually enjoy it which is perhaps a little sad but it keeps me learning all the time, the reason i do it is to keep me from betting 8-10 times a day which i probably use to… i was just relying on my football knowledge then and some basic stats, it didn’t lose me much nor did it win me much. Doing the write ups stops me doing so many bets… now I might do 3 max a day, i will no longer bet blind and sometimes i talk myself out of a bet i fancy as I’m typing it out. Discipline is key to making profit in this game and it can be a tough lesson to learn.
Ive seen quite few posters say they are struggling to just bet a couple of times a day, if you have the time try this technique, honestly might surprise you.

o1.5 should land and there is definitely more chance of it landing. I think you meant match goals and the best price for that is 1.36. To make a 5 point profit id have to stake 14 points. In my opinion, if your backing goals outright you have to look at scoring potential of both sides and defending abilities.. yes both sides can score, but Wohlen have only let in conceded in 4 of 12 away and the H2H record suggests Winterthur struggle. The last 5 H2H has only seen o1.5 goals twice… both just scraping it with 2-0 Wohlen wins.
there are 2 main strategies in betting, Back low odds with a large stake, back higher odds with lower stakes.
I choose option 2 every time especially with more obscure games such as Switzerlands 2nd division, If you’re backing above evens every bet you just have to hit 5 out 10 and you’re turning a profit with the remainders.

A very risky bet but the only one I am on tonight. Spezia are scoring goals home and away and have netted 2 or more in 6 of the last 7 meetings between these two. Crotone are near the bottom of Serie B but have hit form recently and are tight at the back but if Spezia can score then the price of that happening, 2/5, makes the extra goal price well worth a go. Look at the stats yourself and decide if you agree before following.

Did a write up in Super Single thread for Crusaders to win away to Linfield on Saturday Irish league in which i took the 8/5 on Crusaders which looked huge,just been announced thaat Linfield wont be able to hold any home games at their Windsor park ground because of on going problems with a stand under construction so if this game goes ahead Saturday it will be at a neutral venue.

Great news dave I feel like I’m the same boat as you, scatter gun approach to betting, throwing a few quid here and there on far too many tips so my winners barely (and rarely) covered my excitable squandering.
Took the past week of consistent losses and reading your plight to realise that I’m just wasting my time lol.
One thing it’s easy to forget is that the more bets you have on it becomes almost impossible to cover when it starts going pear shaped. Also it can suck the enjoyment out of things as you are looking at so many matches.
Good luck with it Mate I’m going to try and stick to a single, double/treble (only if the card is good) and a raal-esque goals bet per day.

Both these teams sit dangerously above the relegation spots with Osijek only been out of it because Zadars goal difference is terrible. The recent form of these teams are fairly similar too with both teams only winning twice in the last 6 games but it is Slavens Home record that stands out with them unbeaten in the last 5 league games at home winning the last four. Mix this with Osijeks poor away form, only winning 2 league games on the road since 4th april last year which by the way was against the same team (Zagreb) i am fairly confident in a Home win today. The other stat to look at as well is the H2H which Slaven have won the last 3, and since 2004 Slaven has been at home 15 times, winning 11 drawing 2 losing 2. So im happy to go for the home win here.

Andy c – I always seem to lose my discipline at least twice a month lol and it normally causes damage. I like to be honest about the balance as its a tough game full of ups and downs.
My main problem is to many bets, difficulty tracking and covering efficiently and following to many tips, when winning i also up my bets instead of sticking to level ish stakes.
I will learn though and have lasted since jan with my current bank, some achievement with 10 to 15 bets on some days lol :-)

William hill however seem to be very strict and don’t allow much on certain bets.
Why do bet365 have basically no limits ?
Is there any other betting company that follow the same rules?
