IT’S the start of the biggest event in snooker on Saturday as the stars converge on the Crucible in Sheffield for the World Championship.
Temperamental genius Ronnie O’Sullivan is title favourite and generally available at 5-2 with the likes of 888sport and Paddy Power. For anyone who fancies backing the Rocket, Skybet have boosted him to 13-5.
Judd Trump and Neil Robertson are both available at 6-1 with William Hill and defending champ Mark Selby is 17-2 at Coral. Selby, though, will need to end the Crucible curse as no first-time winner has ever retained the crown.
Selby is 1-5 at Coral to win his opener on Saturday against Kurt Maflin, an 11-2 shot at Sportingbet, and the day’s other matches include John Higgins versus Robert Milkins and Crucible debutant Anthony McGill taking on fellow Scot Stephen Maguire.
There’s a blockbuster semi-final at the Monte Carlo Masters tennis with Novak Djokovic 8-15 at Boylesports against Rafa Nadal (39-20, Sportingbet) while Tomas Berdych takes on Gael Monfils in the other last-four clash.
Saturday also sees the start of the NBA play-offs and there’s also the likes of Super League, Formula One and boxing if you fancy a punt.
