THE race for the Premier League is gathering pace and on Friday night there is a massive game between Norwich and Middlesbrough.
My first thought was to back the Canaries and after checking team news I believe they'll win with key man Bradley Johnson back.
Norwich have won their last five and are a best 11-10 with the likes of William Hill. At that price it could be better to side with both to score as Middlesbrough, in particular, will need to go for the win. That pays 24-23 at 888sport.
In League One promotion-chasing Preston face a trick trip to Port Vale and elsewhere there are the usual Friday fixtures from the likes of the Jupiler League, French Ligue 2 and the League of Ireland.
Eintracht Frankfurt face Borussia M'gladbach, Marseille tackle Nantes and Levante host Espanyol is the bigger games.
My focus is on my Saturday Daily Record column but I've had a look at the main games and over 2.5 goals at Eintracht looks a decent bet at 7-10 with Ladbrokes. It's come up in Eintracht's last seven and the game should be win for Borussia for the fifth time in seven visits to Frankfurt.
Over 2.5 goals at Cambuur-Excelsior in Holland looks likely but for the Super Single I'm taking a stats-based bet. French title challengers Marseille have won just once in 10 visits to Nantes and have won just one of their last four. Nantes not to lose pays 20-23 at boylesports and that's the Super Single.
Thursday's Super Single was both to score at Dynamo Kiev-Fiorentina and it came in thanks to a 90th-minute equaliser by the Italians.
Wolfsburg beat the double as they were hammered by Napoli while Sevilla came from behind to edge out Zenit with Carlos Bacca on target as I predicted.

Early look at the card and I’ve spotted valarenga v haugesund. Haugesund were trounced 6-0 last week at home to Rosenborg so I don’t know how they will react to that but looking at h2h haugesund have scored in each of the last 10 meetings with valarenga dating back to 2010. Valarenga have seen btts in both there games so far. Going to try a few bets here- btts, btts/over 2.5, over 2.5. Solely based on stats this as I know little of Norwegian football

Phillis, google Asian handicaps explained. Double chance pays out on a win or draw while DNB returns stake on a draw but pays out on win. That’s why DNB odds are bigger.

Sean Ireland has opened my eyes to Paddy’s Win and over 1.5 goals bets. For example you can get Crystal Palace in the WDW market at 19/20 against West Brom where as the Palace win/Over 1.5 goals is 7/5 and offers real value. I always deliberate whether a win bet or a team over 1.5 TG bet is the stronger one. This just ups the stakes a bit and merges the two bets for decent profit. I’ll give it a whirl this weekend:

I backed West Brom to go down at 35/1 after their defeat to QPR and a lot depends on what kind of results the bottom teams can get between now and the end of the season. Normally the end of the season sees a few good results for the teams near the bottom and with West Brom’s run in it could be a close run thing even though I’ll think they’ll do enough to stay up. Newcastle are safe IMO.

I went into William Hill not long ago and stated I want to stake £310.00 on Norwich to WIN tonight. They wouldn’t accept my bet – They said they had to ring up head office etc. After waiting like 10 mins they said it was fine and the man behind the counter have me my bet receipt back. I got evens on it. I know I could of got a better price elsewhere slightly but couldn’t be bothered to shop around as I was just driving past a WH shop.
