THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and Scottish Cup first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie‘s Damian Walker gives his first-scorer tips every weekend and challenges punters to pick their own.
There was only one correct entry last week and that was Morrison67 with Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths at 9-4. Email [email protected] to claim your prize.
Leave your tip as a comment and quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish games only – for a chance to win £10 this weekend. Here is Damian with this week’s selections.
He says: One player among all other Scottish players has cost McBookie the most money this season. He seems to score first every week especially when we enhance those odds or scores in both halves when we enhance those odds (like he did last week again) and has pretty much been a banker to score at anytime all season.
In fact has scored a staggering 37 times from 48 appearances in the 2015-16 season – despite missing four penalties.
Step forward McBookie’s public enemy No.1: Leigh Griffiths.
Regular readers of this column will be that I almost never tip Griffiths as there’s hardly much craft in digging out a 2-1 first scorer for Celtic and he is often even shorter odds than those. This weekend, however, Celtic for once are a bit of value.
You need to be living in a cave not to know Celtic are playing Rangers in one of this weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-finals on Sunday.
And irrespective of who the two clubs are a team eight points clear in the Premiership should be priced at shorter odds than 4-6 to beat the Championship winners despite their ease in winning the title.
As a result of what I consider to be value odds about Celtic you can back Griffiths at 17-5 to score the first goal on Sunday.
In the other semi-final I am going against Premiership side Dundee Utd and going with Championship side Hibs.
Hibs have already beaten Premiership opposition this season in the shape of Aberdeen, Hearts, St Johnstone and Inverness plus I felt they were unlucky late losers against Ross County in the League Cup.
You can forgive their players in midweek for throwing away a 2-0 lead late on and losing to Alloa last weekend with this cup semi-final looming.
Jason Cummings scored two goals in midweek and 23 for the season and McBookie make him 5-1 to open the scoring.
My final first-scorer selection is against League One title winners Dunfermline. A quick look at last weekend’s Pars squad and you could see the manager Allan Johnston had decided to rest some of his players and as a result they were held to a 2-2 draw by Forfar.
He is likely to do the same against a Stranraer side desperate to get a result to help cement their play-off spot and against what may be another weakened Pars side.
We tipped Stranraer last weekend when they ran out easy 4-0 winners over Airdrie but missed getting the correct first scorer so hopefully Craig Malcolm at 8-1 with McBookie can do us a favour.
Can you find a winner this weekend?
Griffiths (Celtic) 17-5
Cummings (Hibs) 5-1
Malcolm (Stranraer) 8-1
