GREG smashed it as he often does on Friday with a full house winners and my double won to make it a good start to the weekend.

As I've said Friday's my busiest day and I have little time to look at the card but I put up Brighton and Hull as a double and got lucky with Robert Snodgrass' last-minute free-kick winner – and it's so unfair when they put that down as an OG against the keeper.

It's another busy weekend although in Scotland and England the best games are on Sunday. I've posted an English preview but haven't done anything on Scotland because north of the border – love them or hate them – it's all about Rangers v Celtic this weekend and I'll put up a preview once the Saturday action's passed.

The other semi-final is so tough to call between two off-form sides. I fancy Hibs to edge it but if Dundee United win or draw that would surprise no one so the game is a no-bet for me.

Last Saturday I had some good winners including five homes at 9-1 and it would be nice to repeat that. Don't try to do all of my bets and play the long shots for low stakes.

My Super Single is Rotherham, who top the Championship form table, after six wins and two draws under Neil Warnock. They tackle struggling Nottingham Forest at home.

I've added a second SS which is more speculative and based on team news. Scottish League One champs Dunfermline rested players last week and will do so again at play-off chasing Stranraer while Peterhead, who have clinched their spot, have a squad decimated by injury for their trip to Brechin.

The sides have shared the spoils in three meetings this season and while Peterhead have clinched a play-off spot Brechin are bottom and need the points to close on a Forfar side just one point above them. My second SS is not one for the fainthearted – a double chance double on Stranraer and Brechin.

I've listed Jordan's Saturday tips and he'll put reasoning on the comments section. Greg usually posts in the morning.

And remember to check out We Love Betting for their latest tips and video chat.

Every time I seem to have the courage in backing my own side this season they never come good. Then out of nowhere they pull off the upset, which in my opinion is why Louis Van Gaal still has a job. I thought West Ham wouldn’t lose midweek but h2h suggested different, and the trend continued. This weekend h2h suggests Villa won’t get much at Old Trafford, losing 9 of the last 10 overall, and 16 of their 18 trips to the theatre of dreams in their history. I’ve selected this market as I think @ 4/9 (when posted yesterday) it offers decent value. Villa, despite losing 9 of their last 10 overall, have only lost once with over 4.5 goals in that span which was the 6-0 thumping by Liverpool back in February. United, despite their inconsistent performances have the best home defence this season, only conceding 7 goals. With another game at home to Palace in the week, this should be a win for United with Villa hopeless and all but relegated. I can’t see us giving them a thumping. We have only seen over 3.5 goals at Old Trafford twice all season in wins against Liverpool (3-1) and Arsenal (3-2). United have a good history at home to Villa, but we’re not goal machines this season, and hopefully not tomorrow. I even think the United win and Under 3.5 @ 4/5 is worth a go which is why I have it in the longer odds double.

Last season English football was mocked by Europe when we had no teams challenging for European glory, but this year we have a team in both semi finals of both competitions. Manchester City will still be in high spirits after their qualification against the French giants in the week, and catch Chelsea still with injuries to key players, and without a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge in their last 9 league fixtures. City have a very winnable game at Newcastle in the week so focus should be here for now. They haven’t failed to score at Stamford Bridge since 2012, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the man they let go (Kevin De Bruyne) have a say in this game after his winner in the week, scoring in 4 of his last 5 in all competitions, and missing out on City’s 3-0 win in the reverse fixture. Surprisingly Yaya Toure was rested against PSG and should return here today. City DNB is more of a punt than a tip, but for me are the better side at the moment and could well get the 3 points.

Matty Taylor is one of the most clinical men in English football this season for Bristol Rovers. With 25 goals in 41 appearances, he leads League Two by two goals and has scored 8 goals in his last 7 consecutive league games, and helping them secure a point at already promoted Northampton last weekend. They host a Yeovil side who are near the bottom of the table but are more than likely safe with 5 games remaining, while Bristol could well get automatic promotion if they can continue their excellent run at home where they have won 11 of their last 15. Taylor is odds on everywhere else so I think this offers decent value @ 11/10 with Paddys.

Good luck with your punts gents.

    • Jordan 8 years ago

Mr F I tipped Matty Taylor (Bristol Rovers) @ 11/10 @ Paddys too yesterday. One point only.

Going to have a point on this man in Mexico. Funes Mori (Brother of Everton’s Mori) has 16 goals in 28 games in the Liga MX this season. With a goal in the reverse leg and sitting out their 6-0 win over Chiapas last week due to suspension, legs should be fresh and they should give problems to a Tijuana side off the back of a 6-1 loss against America last weekend and a 4-2 defeat at home to Queretaro who rarely get a result away from home. Monterrey have one of the best rosters in the league with the likes of Mori, Cardona and Pabon all in double figures.

      Rogelio Funes Mori (Monterrey) Anytime @ 2/1 @ 365 – 0.5 a point

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Jordan, OK – I’ll add it.

    • obi wan cannoli 8 years ago

I thought Funes Mori was suspended for this match, after insulting the referee in Leon two weeks ago?

    • hampy 8 years ago

Think martial will score today. With Rooney back am concerned what van gaal will do with rashford in a fair world rashford would stay put hes earnt it. Upto Rooney to prove himself. Do like the win and under 3.5 though

    • Jordan 8 years ago

@hampy I still think Rashford starts even if Rooney does. Rooney in the number 10 role behind Rashford would be a wise decision. Would give much better performances in the hole with Martial, Rahsford and Lingard to dish it out too.

    Bet 1:

    Over 8.5 corners double:

Bayer Leverkusen v Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany, 2:30pm)
    Troyes v Reims (France, 7pm)

Pays a shade over evens (Bet365)

Only 3 of Leverkusen’s 14 home matches have failed to reach 9 corners, with 2 of them being ‘low corner’ opposition (Wolfsburg and Moenchengladbach). The reverse fixture saw 11 corners.
Troyes are one of my favourite corner teams. Every single one of their home matches have reached 9 corners. They even managed to get 5 corners of their own when they were annihilated 9-0 by PSG a few weeks ago. The reverse fixture saw 9 corners.

    Bet 2:

Schalke over 2.5 team corners (Germany, 5:30pm)

    Pays 5/4 (Bwin) (5/6 at Bet365)

They have achieved at least 3 corners in each of their away games this season. I know Bayern are streets ahead of the other German teams, but the line seems too low, and 5 other teams have travelled to Munich and achieved this number. Schalke achieved 4 corners in the reverse fixture.

    Bet 3:

Schalke to have the most corners

    Pays 13/1 (Bwin) (10/1 at Bet365)

This is a bit of a daft bet considering Bayern have won the most corners in each of their home matches. However, the odds are huge and I have an inkling this could happen.

    Low stakes…..

Loving the corners betting Mr corners.
Tried it last night with the Leipzig game with my new bet365 account.

Keep up the good work sir.

Good going dalian-shide. It is really good when the heavy favourites go behind – the corners stack up after that.

Swansea have to worth a bet in my opinion 12/5 is way too high of a price for them. Newcastle have arguably the worst defence in the league and for them to get anything from this game I think they will have to score 2 at a minimum. Now Swansea don’t have the best defensive record away from home but coming off a 1-0 against Chelsea the whole team has to be flying with confidence, one thing Newcastle definitely won’t have.

Seen a few people mention Burnley over the last couple of days and its hard to argue with them, Birmingham were terrible last time out against leeds which has them sitting 9 points of the playoffs. Burnley will be definitely be wanting the win more and I’m going to take them to score over 1.5 at 5/4.

Im also going to take Portsmouth to score over 1.5 in their big game against Plymouth. Plymouth have lost their last 2 games 2-1 which has seem them slip 2 points below Portsmouth who have won 3 on the trot and scoring 9 and conceding just 1!

Not been the best of weeks for me but hopefully the weekend can bring a bit more luck, Good luck

I’m with Jordan and Mr Corners today!

Nothing from me yet (apart from Bradford to win to nil obviously – 1-0 in our last 4 games)

Mixed day yesterday. Risked a point on the boxing @ 10/1 so will see how that goes.

Otherwise was 1 winner and 2 losers. 1 corner short on Mr C’s treble, and my new favourite team for overs (Rubio from Paraguay) were 2 up with 30 mins to go before a sending off ruined that one.

I didn’t post my winner but it was an over 2.5MG double of FC Oss and Telstar.

I may be back later with a posting, and will have a look at the MMA and post on Jordan’s thread potentially.

Otherwise it’s my sons second birthday tomorrow so hoping he’s a lucky talisman this weekend but might not be around as much as normal.

    Good luck today everyone ?

    Morning gents

It’s that stage of the season where some clubs have nothing to play for which can make a difficult card even tougher – goals only for me today

Hibernian v Dundee United KO 12.15pm

The form table doesn’t make good reading for these two (in fact the league table doesn’t make good reading) luckiky though these two can forget their league woes and look at securing a Scottish cup final place! The Hibs hoodoo is now at 42,000 days since they last won the cup (1903) – to put it into perspective, St Johnstone and ICT have won it the last two years). Hibs were my goals NAP midweek agaibst Falkirk and they didn’t disapsoint scoring and conceding! I can see the same happening today! United are woeful defensively but are more than capable of netting against a leaky Hibs defence!

Back over 2.5 match goals 21/20 (Bet365) (NAP)

    Brechin to score v Peterhead
    Montrose to score against Stirling

    Double pays 4/5 (NB)

    Newcastle v Swansea

No write up needed here – A late goal to be scored

Usual approach – Inplay when the price hits around 5/6 – currently sits at 72 mins pre match!

    Man United v Aston Villa
    Charlton v Derby
    Colchester v Peterborughs

    Over 2.5 match goals treble

    Pays 4/1

Getafe sit bottom and have been woeful this season. Real madrid sitd 3rd and have the chance to move to 2nd today so will be going for the win and i can see them doing it in style….with spirits high after qualifying for the next round of the champs league midweek.

Also gonna have a cheeky bet on Ronaldo to score a brace at 11/8

may also be worth keeping an eye out for team lines in the Belgrade derby at 5pm , I usually have a punt on red star tgs but just been strolling last few weeks and dried up as league tied up ages ago they sit 11 points clear in the championship group atm, partisan doing well atm though and a red star win btts looks decent at 11/4 as cant see them wanting to loose to their local rivals, will post later when I see teams if I’m around……….

Little heads up guys, in the Boro game today E Nsue is playing on the right wing, usually plays right back. He started right wing against Reading on Tuesday and grabbed a goal. Today Boro could grab a hatful against Bolton and I expect him to get another. He’s priced at 9/2 for anytime goalscorer, 14/1 to score first and 40/1 to grab 2 and 150/1 for 3. Well worth a few points in my opinion.

A few early thoughts on todays championship fixtures.

Todays card looks about as good as it could be at any stage during the whole season for punters to maybe perm in a few doubles and trebles and I feel that if we keep it simple, we could take some worthwhile cash from the bookies today.

Rotherham is Mr F’s super single and I think even Forest fans would probably not disagree. They have really raised the bar in the season close and barring a spectacular implosion and a few miracles, they’ve about safe. same on points are Forest, but Rotherhams form this past 7 or so games is dare I say it – promotion standard. Big shame they’ve left it so late in the season and I think it all started when they clawed back from 3 down in the last 8 mins against my beloved Derby. Fair plays to them.

With Brighton laying down their 5 goal marker last night and Hull scraping a 1 nil, its now up to the teams in the mix for the playoff slots to deliver along with Borough and Burnley.

First, Burnley, arguably probably the most consistent team in the league and with Brighton breathing down their neck, this is a must win for them today. My step-dad supports Birmingham and he’s been consistent in saying his squad are not good enough for anything better than mid table. Burnley should have enough to push aside Birmingham. If they don’t, Brighton have already capitalised. A must win for Burnley – and they’ll extend their record unbeaten run.

Middlesbrough: Away to Bolton and I have them down as a nailed on win. I actually took an in-play -1 @ 7/5 with bet365. Bolton were shocking last week against Derby and they now have nothing to play for. Not even pride. Again – barring a miracle, they’ll stay nailed onto the bottom rung of this table come May.

Derby: This is a harder game for me to call than most in the top 7 today, for 1 huge negative reason: our record in the capital is shocking, I don’t have the stats but I think Brentford have been our only scalp in 2 or 3 seasons. I know its Charlton who have next to no chance of catching Rotherham and Forest. I think Charltons lack of squad depth has hampered their results and with Derby laying down some solid home form this past month, it outshines our below average away form, but our recent performances have to give you some belief that something at Derby has finally clicked into place. I know the last 2 matches Derby had were at home, a 4 nil to Hull and a 4-1 to Bolton and I’m not sure of the two games which one impresses me the most, given that Bolton could of had a nasty sting in their tail. Luckily it never happened. 2 wins and a wobble for Cardiff in the remaining 5 matches and Derby are in the playoffs. No mucking about with taking the foot off the gas – we’ve done that, and it all ended horribly. A narrow win for Derby should leave us needing 4 or 5 more points to get us over the line. Anything more would be a bonus.

Sheff Wed/Ipswich is a very evenly matched game, and given Sheff Weds wobbles of late, I am expecting this to end all square. Ipswich’s form has been dropping off since January. Maybe Sheff Wed will sneak a close win but I think given Cardiffs match today, I think Sheff Wed would take a point before kickoff. I will however be avoiding this match.

Cardiff/QPR, again its 2 quite evenly matched games and the pressure is all on Cardiff to deliver. If they fail to win and Derby do, that small gap from 7th to 6th becomes way more important than factoring in whether Derby could drop into that showdown. Cardiff have been quite decent at home – they showed the Rams the door and yes we were terrible but quite simply, Cardiff deserved the points. I have a sneaky suspicion Cardiff will edge a hard fought win. QPR are out of the playoff race so aside from making the season end stats look a little better, they don’t have much to play for. I will again be avoiding this match.

    I have a cheeky £5 on an in-play Middlesbrough -1 h/c @ 7/5, Derby win 3/4, Burnley win 11/10 with bet365. returns £44.10

    Derby team news:

    Carson

    Christie/Keogh/Shackell/Hansen
    Thorne
    Bryson/Butterfield
    Russell/Martin/Ince

Just one change for the rams in our left sided wing back – Olsen is ill, so in comes academy product Hansen. Not his usual position, Hansen has played a few games sat in front of the back 4 in half a dozen matches but considering he’s still a youngster, he’s conducted himself quite well with the championship pace of football. I do think that the other defenders and Thorne are going to have to put in a performance as our left back position now has to be considered our Achilles.

The midfield is unchanged from the last match – understandably, Brysons linkage will be key to our front 3 to put on a show. Still thinking a Derby win is on the cards and missing Olsen who has been a quality stand-in for the absent Forsyth will nullify an element of our left sided attacks. Expect most of Derby’s attacks to start from Christie who has been upping his game in the absence of Forsyth.

Russell is on the goals, as is Martin and to be fair, our front 3 are starting to look much more of a threat with Bryson in the side.

Borough have just equalised and unless they get 2 late goals, my treble is sunk. Who would of though Bolton would suddenly grow a pair !!

    best of luck folks

Quick overview of Charlton V Derby first half.

Most chances have fell to Derby and tv replays show Ince’s shot – cleared off the line actually crossed it. We’ve had plenty of the ball in the last third and more than enough chances to of of netted 2 or 3 times.
Its not been all one way traffic, Charlton have flashed a shot wide that they should of scored from and a last ditch Christie tackle robbed the ball from a Charlton player about to pull the trigger.

Trying not to be biased here, there seems to be more of the dictating of the match from Derby and I can still see us getting the goal we need. If we net first, I feel it could turn the crowd against Charlton and you could see a collapse. Derby are currently 6-1 up on corners and @ 6/5 to win this match with bet365. We’ve evolved to become a 2nd half side and find that extra gear we need to grab the spoils.

Hansen in left back his having a good game, Russell/Ince and Martin have all had good chances and Christie is joining in with the attacks.

A stat worth considering is Charlton have conceded the most goals from set pieces this term – not including penalties. 26 I think. Ince’s freekicks have been woeful though. So goal from a corner??

    • nathanufton 8 years ago

Burnley and Derby winning, Borough coming up a goal shy and both Sheff Wed and Cardiff drawing. So far I’ve about called all 5 games right. The 2 draws are great results if it stays the same till the whistle, but Derby have to tighten up or get a 2nd.
Derby would go 9 points clear of Cardiff with 4 to go if it stays the same.

Not sure how skybet have this down but Brighton odds of winning the playoff final is 4/1 and Derby are 11/4. Unless by some sheer miracle Brighton end up playing Derby in the playoff semi, its likely to be Hull/Derby and Brighton/Sheff Wed or Cardiff.

With Derby putting 6 past Hull without reply over 2 matches this season and Brighton beating us 2 nil at their place and a 2-2 draw at the ipro. Brightons stellar form would point to them being the favourites to go up. I have a sneaky suspicion they’ll push Burnley and Borough all the way for the top 2 but think it’ll be just beyond their reach.

A £10 on both Derby and Brighton to win the playoff final would net a profit of £17.50 if Derby won it and £30 profit if Brighton go up.

    • nathanufton 8 years ago

Derby are also as short as 1/50 to finish in the top 6, – 9 points clear of Cardiff and I think 5 clear of Sheff Wed. Derby now have 3 wins on the bounce and 4 wins from 5. Looking good for a win against Bristol on Tuesday @ 13/10 with bet365.

Evening all. Cash out scuppered me for an un posted acca earlier after Boro scored a late one. ?
Compensated by aguero first goal though so swings and roundabouts I suppose.
Ended up having a look at league 1 in France for my sins. Only one bet.
Billy Ketkeophomphone Any time @ 3/1.
    Why I hear you ask.
Well he did score last time against bordeux, takes their pens and seems to have scored with reasonable regularity recently.
If im honest its mainly because the name
Billy Ketkeophomphone should appear in everyone’s betting history at least once. ? Fun bet only.

    • ray_ez 8 years ago

Angers player sent off. Last time that happened score was 3-0 Lyon.
      O1.5 match goals is 11/10.
      O2.5 3/1
Bordeux were on top before the red card and must be looking to take the chance to score a couple of goals. Not something they have doing recently it has to be said. Could still be a draw this one. 7/4
0-0 may be the play 5/2

    • ray_ez 8 years ago

Well 0-0 certainly wasn’t the play.
Strange game. Angers went 0-2 up. Bordeux have just got one back.
      O3.5 @5/6
      Drw at 2/1
Still 30 left. Been a while since bordeux were amongst the goals but they can win @ 9/1
Play your cash right and all you need is any goal to cover all bets.

    • ray_ez 8 years ago

      Appologies 15 left

The Night Owl sees me over in Argentina with a 22.30 KO…back to Buenos Aries for the 3rd time in as many weeks…

    BOCA JUNIORS VS. ALDOSIVI:

8th plays 9th here with only a point seperating the two after 10 games played.

I watched Boca’s Copa Libertadores game against Bolivar and thought they looked pretty good but the inconsistent start to the season bit back with a 2-0 away defeat to bottom side Tigres.

Follow that up with a 0-1 away win against 7th placed Racing Club and you’ve Boca’s season so far in a nutshell…up and down.

On the Racing Club note, tonight’s opponents Aldosivi beat them 2-1 last week to make it only one loss in six (4 draws 1 win and 1 loss).

Aldosivi certainly won’t roll over and have a resilience that should make it difficult for Boca although that said, the home side have notched 3-3-2 team goals in their last 3 home matches.

Add to the mix one final stat – Aldosivi have managed to to score at least 1 away goal in 80% of their last 10 away fixtures!

    Two selections:

    BTTS…EVENS
    (3 Points)

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 GOALS…8/5
    (2 Points)

    Good luck ?

    • laskillful 8 years ago

Crane Sir, racing club vs Argentina juniors ryt? wat do u think of Racing o1.5Tg as I’ll prefer to go safer, bad Saturday so far

  112. craneguy 8 years ago

mac, honestly cant remember the last time a had a decent lift off a sat daytime bet…………..

    • big mac 8 years ago

I always find there are too many games to look at on a Saturday, I tend to go thru the leagues I like to bet on and narrow it down to bets I like the look of then from that list I will narrow it down again and choose my bets but my list is always longer on a Saturday due to the fact that all the top leagues are in action sometimes it’s easier when you have less choice

  113. HullShaker 8 years ago

There’s the Aldosivi away goal on 22’…cover there for anyone following at 9/4 for BTTS = no.

  114. HullShaker 8 years ago

Boca grab the equaliser on the stroke of half time…

    BTTS…EVENS
    (3 Points)

    **WON**

Cover for the BTTS & OVERS sits at 5/2 but certainly at least a goal still to come here and advise to leave.

    • laskillful 8 years ago

As above but add Darlo’s re-scheduled game against Stamford (I believe will be played at Spennymoor’s ground) to see Over 2.5
    (1 Point)
    3.26/1

    Good luck.

  118. spursman 8 years ago
