Apr 12: Mr Fixit’s Top Tips

MRF_TopTips_Genting

I WAS cursing the toss of a coin that made me go with Brighton ahead of Las Palmas as the Super Single but in the end both won.

A late goal is always welcome so the Super Single profit is looking a bit healthier. I had Las Palmas not to lose on the Top Treble but Malmo were a goal short and Roma would have let me down anyway.

Malmo also downed Jordan’s tip but it was a good night for Greg with his Under-21 tips. I suggested goals at Achilles v Helmond and Telstar v NAC but in the end all the Jupiler League games went over 2.5 with only Dordrecht failing to score.

Greg’s always banging on about backing them blindly and was on the accumulator at 62-1 – as many others will have been.

Tuesday’s a busy night although I’m not looking at masses of games. I’ve posted a Champions League preview covering Man City v PSG and Real Madrid v Wolfsburg. In short I fancy PSG and Real to qualify.

In Scotland it’s Inverness v Hearts in the Premiership and Hibs v Falkirk and Dumbarton v Queen of the South in the Championship.

Falkirk at 22-5 with Marathonbet are my Super Single in the Daily Record against a Hibs side with just one win in seven and possibly with one eye on Saturday’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Dundee United. The Bairns are worth a small risk and for the Super Singles on the site I’m going with Falkirk draw no bet at 11-4 with bet365 and PSG to win tonight.

I’m also looking at Dumbarton at home to Queen of the South at 11-5 with McBookie and bet365. The Sons are fighting to avoid a relegation play-off while Queens’ defeat at home to Raith last weekend ended their hopes of a top-four slot – they did though thump their rivals 6-0 in Dumfries last month.

Having looked at closely at the card my goals treble is both to score at Falkirk and Notts County and over 2.5 goals at Man City. Hibs and Falkirk have fought out two 1-1 draws this season and before that the last meeting at Easter Road was 3-3.

Falkirk’s last five matches have totalled 19 goals while Hibs have conceded in their last six.

I thought about taking Notts County who have been revived under new boss Mark Cooper but Hartlepool are on a good run too with four wins in five including a 5-2 success at Morecambe at the weekend so going for goals.

I’m putting a lot of faith in PSG tonight. It’s in for a penny in for a pound and to score 2+ starts my treble. Add Middlesbrough at home to Reading as they bid to return to the top of the Championship at home to Reading.

Boro have won four in a row and hit form at the right time while Reading suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Birmingham at the weekend and being stuck mid-table have little to play for.

Complete the line with Dumbarton not to lose at home to QoS. The Sons are two points clear of second-bottom Livi with two games in hand so a win would be massive. They could get it but I’m keeping the draw on side and going with Dumbarton not to lose as they did in their last home match with Morton.

That 6-0 loss last month is a concern but the Sons have more motivation and they did win 2-1 at home in January.

Jordan’s tip and reasoning is on the comments section and I’ve listed it here.

And please don’t follow us if you’re on the side of Man City tonight.

Can’t see Wolfsburg sitting back and hoping Madrid don’t score three. The Galaticos will have to press hard which could leave them open on the counter. 4/5 @ best for both to score which I think we’ll see, or if you think Wolfsburg could get Madrid worried, Ramos is 9/4 or Pepe @ 11/4 to be shown a card. Bookies give these prices as they expect Madrid to win, but if both score then I can see tempers flaring, and you can’t look past either center back

PSG will be without Luiz, Matuidi and probably Verratti. Only one man for the job here. Despite missing a penalty he still kept PSG in the tie and for me is the likely man to cause City problems. Zlatan has been in the news recently saying he is open to a move to United in the summer, but only if LVG leaves. Off you go Louis 😂 Still hoping PSG can qualify for the Euro treble but with a point staked its not a huge problem if the bow out. Can’t see Zlatan not having anything to say about it though.

    Zlatan Imbrahimovic (PSG) Anytime @ 6/5 @ Ladbrokes/Coral – 2.32 points

Good write up. I find it a surprise whenever I see Pepe or Ramos in the team as I always assume they should be suspended! Which bookies are best for cards for players? B365 don’t offer these markets I don’t think.

For further evidence that footy has gone mad you can now dictate who the manager is (or isn’t) for clubs that haven’t even made you an offer yet!! Bonkers

      Mr fixer
You say Falkirk and hibs have fought out 11-1 draws !!!
Does this mean hibs or Falkirk +10 on handicap ?
Seems a generous head start to me

Missed out on my double on Monday after Kingstonian slipped to a last minute defeat at home to Farnborough. I am sticking with non league teams on Tuesday with two games in the Ryman Premier and one in the Northern Premier.
Bognor Regis are 4/9 to beat Wingate and Finchley at home and should oblige after some good recent results. Bognor lie third whilst their visitors have nothing to play for in mid table.
Dulwich Hamlet have been near the top of the table for most of the campaign but are in danger of missing out on the end of season play offs. Tonight they travel to Brentwood Town who are all but down. Hamlet might be a riskier proposition than Bognor but the price of 10/11 reflects this.
Finally, Stourbridge lie 4th in the Northern a Premier and should be able to win away to Matlock Town, themselves in 17th. Stourbridge are yet another team with play off aspirations and should oblige tonight. A price of 4/5 seems fair.
The treble with Bet365 pays a smidgen shy of 4/1.

I like jordans tip psg have to score and he is their most likely scorer but its hard to pick a winner, for me psg have to many injuries or banned players especially their most important player matuidi who is influential in midfield he will be a big loss for psg.Where i find most value is kevin de bruyne to score anytime @ 9/4 for man city he poses a threat to any teams defence and on his day is a match winner and man citys fortunes have certainly turned a corner since his comeback from injury.good luck all.

Overnight tip of Rafaela vs Union MG 2.5 – finished 1-1 😔

4 points down yesterday and in a bit of a trough. Still up for the month though after coming during out to nearly 17points up at one stage.

Tonight is all 365 offer for me. I like Jordan’s Zlatan any time tip, it was my pick for my free bet last week and won me £40.

I’m thinking I’ll do that separately with Coral. Anyone else like the thought of both to score in the first half as the free bet option?

Think for the bet365 offer im going to go for rabiot to score won for me last week at 9/4 and at 4/1 today have to go for him again 3 goals in 6 apperances is a decent record for a midfilder

  15. Profile photo of HullShaker

    Morning gents,

As Crane says, there’s gold to be found over in SA – just that sometimes it’s not a crock of gold you find at the end of the footballing rainbow but a crock of sh*t as was the case with last night’s Argentinian double.

Actually, to be fair, it was another crossbar effort with the 4.5/1 BTTS & OVERS missing by 1 goal with 4-1 and 1-1 scorelines.

    Onto today…

I watched last weeks PSG v City game and for two ‘superior’ sides the overall quality of defending, passing and general football was absolutely shocking.

I can see BTTS again (1/2!) and certainly don’t disagree with Jordan and Mr F’s Zlatan shout.

    Some stats I’vw cobbles together…

    * 82% of home teams drawing 2-2 have progressed at this stage ( not sure how many that’s based on though 😉)

    * City have not kept a clean sheet in 9

    * City have 7 different scorers in the last 7 games

    * Augero has score 16 times on his last 19 CL appearances.

    * PSG have beaten an English aide only once in 7 attempts

    * PSG have exited the CL at this stage 3 years on th bounce.

Make of that what you will and there’s certainly other stats that would offer diffrent ‘messages’!

I think they’ll be goals but prices are tighter than a camel’s arse here…Over 3.5 at 6/4 is too stingy.

I can see City progressing. No, honestly I can.

With Silva back in the side and De Bruyne playing the foil, we should see Augero brought into play to exploit what was a messy defence in Paris ( as was City’s)

I’ve mulled his one over for an age and keeping the Augero thoughts onside I’ve settled on:

    Augero ATGS…21/20…pre-match

    Augero Over 1.5 goals…5/1…in-play

If I had kahoonas big enough I was very tempted to pop the ‘free’ in-play on the game to go to penalties at 40/1…£2000+ return for no outlay but wimped out as realistically, it has to be a 2-2 scoreline 😂🙈.

Good luck whatever everyone goes for 👍

Not meaning to jinx it bit I’ve done the bet365 offer three times before…every time a winner.

Did it for the PSG v Chelsea, Arsenal v Barcelona and PSG v Man City.

So tonight, the same method will be used again.

    Pre Match:
    Man City No Clean Sheet
    £50 returns £60

    In Play:
    PSG exactly two goals
    ( normally pays about 9/4)

I think it could be a score draw again I’ve gone pre match double chance city win PsG win returns £69.50 then In play wait for a goal then back the draw hopefully around 4/1

Aside from the 365 offer bets there are 3 other games that interest me.

I’ve taken out what I believe to be the best ‘value’ bet for each and combined them in a treble:

    BORO…OVER 1.5 TGS

    REAL v WOLFSBURG…BTTS

    COLYWN BAY v WHITBY…OVER 2.5 MGS

The first two speak for themselves but Colywyn are the one team that have yet to let anybof my lower leauge bets down this year…thwy have been uber-reliable on the overs market…5 of their last 5 have a big fat tick next to them as do 23 of their last 33 games.

Treble pays a tatsy looking 3.76/1
    (2 Points)

    Good luck

like the look of overs in all those NPL games tonight tbh, altho Whitby was the only one concerning me, expect them to win there but they like to keep it tight by looks of last few away games? Colwyn Bay seem to always be involved in high scoring games tho so I hope you are right hull!

thanks mate, still mulling things over, think i’ll just go over 1.5 there, really hope you’re right tho, colwyn bay will hopefully score and concede a couple. think my main bet will be a double if i can find a bookie offering it, bideford and bognor regis win/overs. just found it, good old stan james, pays a hefty 10/1

bognor for obvious reason, 9 scored in last two games, but the mighty bideford have won 3 on the trot, fighting for their national league south lives, aggregate of 25 goals in their last six games, v merthyr who’ve lost two on the trot as they fade into mid table obscurity, makes sense to me, anyone else??

love the no league goals, heaps about usually, cant see many in the english league games, or the conference as its getting all a bit nervy down there. will be backing my boys to beat altrincham, been on good form, just waiting for thinks to click for the shot shy forwards, hopefully tonight will be the night!! at around 4/5 i think its good value, but will back -1 too, altho i would take a draw to keep us 3 points ahead of them!

like mr f’s scottish double, seems too good to be true!

having a quick look at the erste liga games now before they start too

          good luck all

be good to have an edit button here, littered with spelling mistakes due to fat fingers as usual

goals in all four erste liga games, but going to pick the games at floridsdorfer, bottom v top here and klagenfurt to go over 2.5, combined with a win for kapfenberger and btts in the linz v liefering game, pays about 9/1

any winning onto the later games which i will be revisiting in the hour before ko

at the moment i have 11 aways that i like the look of, and 15 or so over 2.5s, prob do a daft quid on both and try to whittle down to a more sensible figure

had a good week this week, small bets big wins, 778/1 aways acc saturday, and 104/1 overs bet last night, doesnt happen often, but when it does its very nice, only £1 and £2 on respectively but a lovely boost to my funds

if you do the studying and the teams fulfil their part of the deal then sometimes it all falls into place, but as we know these things rarely happen!

Bognor Regis Town vs Wingate & Finchley – HT result Bognor Regis Town
Man City vs PSG – PSG over 1.5 TG’s

    2.91/1 **NAP**

Bognor Regis still have title ambitions and can mathematcally win the league if they win their remaining four games and other results go their way. After a mini slump (probably due to fixture congestion) they are currently in white hot form scoring nine in two games without reply. At home they have won eight on the trot, seven of which also saw them leading at half time. Wingate & Finchley’s season has been plagued by mediocrity mainly due to not travelling well so Bognor should have a decent chance of being ahead at the Interval.

PSG will know they’ll have to score at The Etihad or face elimination. They’ve scored 83 goals in Ligue 1 this season and with the personnel they have at their disposal its very realistic that they’ll score twice tonight at a ground which is far from a fortress. They generated many chances in Paris that weren’t taken; off the top of my head Zlatan curled a shot over when one on one with Hart, he also hit the post with a header, Matuidi overcooked a pass when he just needed to square it to Cavanni, Thiago Silva just headed over and of course Zlatan missed the penalty. All of this was just in the first leg so now with the increased urgency of the situation for them I suspect they’ll try and go for the jugular just as they did at Chelsea.

    Good luck all

Yesterday was a disaster with all 3 short priced favourites falling over. I’d much rather be taking a chance on bigger odds but nothing catches the eye at the moment and I’d rather eat away at some of the losses first. Real Madrid should at the very least win tonight chasing a 0:2 deficit at home but I don’t like their chances of progressing- a win of any kind would do here. Ahlen were a team regularly seen in the German 2nd tier until their relegation and finally insolvency over 5 years ago. Since then they have shown no signs of returning and even at the moment in the lower tiers sit mid table but should win at home today against the second worst side in the league. Klagenfurt are on an really poor run in 2016. They started with a win but have since lost 6 in a row so worth opposing and I am doing that today but as Lustenau are not great I am taking draw no bet.

Best of luck with your bets today.

Really pleased for you guys making a few quid on Brighton, in particular worth a mention @hullshaker with the Brighton over 1.5 goals, always always always the late goal. Brighton really are a serious threat to the top 2. I’m kinda trying to find who is playing who amongst the top 7 in the championship and being honest, I think Derby have the worst sequence of games amongst those top 7 sides. Starting with Charlton away – maybe Derby finding another gear over this past few matches might be enough to see them off, but if Charlton really want to stay in this league, this next fixture really is make or break time – will they crumble or will they show up?? I’m inclined to think Charlton with the weight of the championship on their shoulders will raise their game. Then comes a home game at home to Bristol, they’ve raised their own bar with some great results this past few weeks – but for me this is another MUST win for Derby – possibly the best chance of taking 3 points from any of the remaining 5 matches. We then have Sheff Wed – a 6 pointer, Sheff Wed have had a bit of a wobble, that game is at the Ipro – I expect a point from the rams but we could put on a show – much the same as the game against Hull – similar form to Sheff Wed but again, the rams often get the better of Sheff Wed. Then we have the big one – hardest game of our run-in – Brighton away !! They are going to want to owe us one. The last time I bet on Brighton V Derby was the playoff’s 2 years back, I dropped £30 on a Derby win/over 2.5 tmgs and over 12 corners double, I walked away with £650. Tried the same type of bet on the reverse fixture at Derby, we rained in goals but the bookies had raised the bar on the corners, I think I fell short by 1 corner, shame, another £650 would of been sweet. No sense in going for doubles with corners and Derby as we’ve been shy of them all season. Our last game is I believe at home to Ipswich – by no means not a certainty, but they’re a top 8/10 side who might just spoil the party.

The likes of Derby/Hull/Sheff wed need to put about 9 more points on the board to seal up the top 6. Derby seem to of improved a little , whilst the other 2 are dropping a few points.

The race for the top 2 is now a 3 way tussle and if I’m honest, yes, Burnley have destroyed their club unbeaten record but they’re getting too many draws and Borough and Brighton are closing fast. If Burney finish in the playoff’s, unless Derby also make them and turn up, I cannot see Derby getting past them. Both Burnley and Middlesbrough have enough about them to push the rams aside. I’d rather see Derby face off against ( in order of preference – Hull/Sheff Wed/Brighton ) than Burnley.

I’m a Wednesday fan and I think the consensus is we’d prefer Brighton in the playoffs and let Hull and Derby scrap it out to meet us in the final. P.S. Does one bad game make a wobble?

Yeah I did the over 1.5 goals last week which I feel is more playing it safe and a nice £75 profit. But it’s a £150 profit for the BTTS 1st half.

Tricky one but I can only see goals. PSG have to attack the game which leaves them vulnerable at the back. Both teams are good going forward but I feel both are vulnerable defensively…. I’ll keep pondering

So I can put £50 pre match on btts in the 1st half then cover it with the free inplay bet with btts 1st half ‘no’?

            • Profile photo of richb20806
              richb20806 8 months ago

Yeah although it goes against the terms and conditions… Apparently bet365 turn a blind eye. I know a lot of people on here do it that way and have been for ages.

I’m overly cautious though so always go:
              £50 b365 over 0.5 goals

Cover it with another bookie… In this case I’ve gone £3 under 0.5 goals in Skybet at 16/1.

Then my £50 in play just something likely but decently priced. I know some go for gold on this and as its risk free.. Why not?

Better to go over 0.5 goals £50 pre match and cover if you want another bookie NO goalscorer I haven’t bothered I think there will be a goal at least!

Then done £50 in play at 4/1

Now I wait for goals hopefully 😉

I’ve done my usual guaranteed profit method for tonight – £40 profit for a draw, £30 profit if either side win. Either result will take me over £500 for the season. BUT I did consider doing it with the over 0.5 and then covering the 0-0 MrF method. If I had done I reckon you should go big or go home, so was going to go for Man City to win on Penalties for my free inplay. £50 returns £2050. I haven’t, but just posting it now for the record…..
