Alan Thomson’s Tips: Tune into West side story at Carlisle

rekindling-horseracing

COPPER WEST (2.30) lacks a turn of foot but he has been found a weak race at Carlisle.

His third to Slanelough at Doncaster probably sets the standard and I liked the way Copper West travelled into the race before plugging on into third. With the emphasis on stamina over speed, Copper West should be staying on stoutly up the Carlisle hill.

HENRY’S JOY (2.00) looks the wrong price at 6-1 in some places.

Donald McCain’s five-year-old met some smart horses at Bangor when fourth to the Warren Greatrex-trained Don’t Ask and has since chased up useful Quick Pick at Sedgefield.

With only seven runners declared there are only two places available in the place market with high street bookies, so I’ll be having a serious ew punt on Henry’s Joy on Betfair, where you can get three places.

On this subject, if you want to be even a semi-serious player you need to be on Betfair.

Meanwhile, winner of the £50 bet for putting up a correct tip yesterday is Cobretti who tipped Solomon Grey in the 3.15 at Market Rasen.

Recommended Bets

  • Carlisle 2.30 – Copper West (100-30, bet365, Coral)
  • Carlisle 2.00 – Henry’s Joy ew (6-1, Betfair)

        It will come eventually
ATR “At The Races” along with ARC “Arena Racing Company and
TPD “Total Performance Data” are slowly going in the right direction but they are getting there, the problem is not a lot of people want to know, maybe it’s just too much to take in or maybe they are just not interested compared to people in other countries, they seem to realise that to win against a bookie you need to know more than a bookie or at least know as much as the bookie, I think that’s why we “Philippa Racing” are more popular in America and starting to be in Australia because people realise we are doing it the correct way with our studying and obviously our knowledge of breeding helps when picking out the right horses for us to invest in, but going back to sectional timing, we as a country are light years behind America and I can’t see us catching up in my life time, Ireland were supposed to start January last year but it never materialised, they will get there though
