PURE SHORES (5.10) sets a decent standard in the extended mile maiden at Wolverhampton.

Ian Williams’s filly set a quick clip at Kempton before being reeled in by Hugh Palmer’s favourite Humbert and another fancied runner trained by David Simcock. The first three pulled nine lengths clear, so the form reads quite well in the context of this modest maiden.

Wonderfillo ran respectably in summer maidens and has joined David O’Meara from Paul Cole after finishing a distant second at Bath. The market will give a guide to expectations.

John Gosden’s filly Middle Creek proved a very disappointing favourite at Newcastle and it will be interesting to see if she is backed again. On paper, it was a poor effort at Gosforth Park.

I usually avoid betting at Ffos Las like the plague as the track is often a swamp in winter but OXWICH BAY (1.00) is crying out to be backed in the maiden hurdle.

His second to Magic Dancer last month was franked when third horse Champagne City ran an excellent third to Smaoineamh Alainn at Cheltenham on Friday.

Rose Dobbin has bright prospects of a double courtesy of DOCTOR GLAZ (2.50) in the 3m handicap chase and the short-priced Some Reign earlier on the Musselburgh card.

Doctor Glaz chased home Golden Investment over this trip at Wetherby and there was a 23 lengths gap back to the third. Doctor Glaz prefers a decent surface, so conditions seem fine.

Hat-trick seeking John Williams goes well at this track and having won over two miles, now steps up in distance. He is a winner over 2m 4f, so stamina may not be an issue.

RAISED ON GRAZEON (3.20) should be involved in the finish of the concluding 2m handicap hurdle.

John Quinn’s mare has run some solid races in defeat and shaped nicely enough behind the odds-on Redemption Song at Market Rasen. An initial handicap mark of 102 seems fine and Brian Hughes is booked.
