Newmarket 3.30
CLEARLY (3.30) may benefit for the application of blinkers in the fillies’ handicap at Newmarket.
John Gosden’s three-year-old has lost lengths at the start on her last two visits to the racetrack, trailing the field at Sandown before running on strongly into third. Clearly was hampered exiting the stalls on her last outing here at Newmarket, staying on into fifth spot behind all-the-way winner Peach Melba. She wears the first colours of Godolphin and Andrea Atzeni takes over the reins.
Dynamic was two lengths behind my selection at Sandown but a 5lb weight pull makes it a tight call.
Kempton 7.20
The 32Red-sponsored maiden at Kempton has attracted a rather motley crew and Roger Varian will be disappointed if lightly-raced GORHAM’S CAVE (7.20) cannot do the business on his third start.
The son of Rock Of Gibraltar showed promise (fifth) at Doncaster in July but faded out of the picture pretty quickly after racing prominently at Leicester earlier this month. This drop to six furlongs may bring about some improvement from a good draw in stall three.
