FAVOURITE backers will be licking their lips over the prospects of MIGHT BITE (2.50) and SUPASUNDAE (3.25) doing the business in the two Betway-sponsored principal races on Aintree’s opening day.
Might Bite will be very hard to stop if his Cheltenham Gold Cup exploits haven’t left their mark, while this intermediate trip of 2m 4f looks tailor-made for Stayers’ Hurdle runner-up Supasundae. The double pays around 5-2.
This will be a short-priced double the bookies will be fearing, along with other fancied runners APPLE’S SHAKIRA (2.20) and GETAWAY KATIE MEY (5.15).
Apple’s Shakira needs to shake-off a disappointing display in the JCB Triumph Hurdle, coming under pressure on the home turn before fading into fourth behind Farclas. She is a better judged on earlier exploits.
Getaway Katie Mey stands out in the mares’ bumper, with her close second to subsequent Weatherbys Champion Bumper heroine Relegate at Leopardstown the best form on offer.
At bigger odds, BALNASLOW (4.05) will be on the premises if able to repeat last year’s run in the Randox Health Foxhunters’ Chase when narrowly denied by Dineur. Derek O’Connor is back on top and Balnaslow stayed on into seventh behind Pacha Du Polder at Cheltenham.
David Pipe has been among the winners lately and KING’S SOCKS (4.40) can give a good account in an open-looking Red Rum Handicap Chase.
The ex-French chaser chased home Footpad at Auteuil earlier in his career and ran a solid race at Cheltenham when fifth to The Storyteller. King’s Socks was well-backed at the festival and would have finished a bit closer but for belting the second-last fence.

Can’t believe the price of this horse and just have to have a go. Ran poorly lto but prior to that was only beaten 1/2L by SAYO who finished 3rd in the Triumph 1 1/2L ahead of Apple’s shakira.
I’m also going to have an ew on GUMBALL 33/1 ew pp who earlier in the season beat MALAYA by 8L and if he can find his form can get competitive.

Only beaten 1/2L by Mite Bite in the king George. Missed Cheltenham and will be fresher than most.

7th in this race last year when staying on. Only the 4 runs since so fresh and this year’s race doesn’t look as strong

Yeah was lucky to spot him myself ThPlug,pity you missed it. I thought I’d share incase you n others hadn’t noticed. Had to be something in being turned out so quickly and I watched the race yesterday.
