VENTURA KNIGHT (4.05) scored with plenty of authority at Hamilton five days ago and is fancied to make light of his 6lb penalty on Ayr’s Sunday card.

After beating useful Maverick Officer at Doncaster, Ventura Knight made an abortive trip to Royal Ascot for the Hunt Cup before being routed to Hamilton. The colt is thriving on hard work and Mark Johnston’s three-year-old probably has Nicholas T to fear. For some reason Jim Goldie’s gelding ran a shocker here last time, beating only one home, but his previous second to Big Country at Redcar is very solid form.

Keith Dalgleish mounts a strong raid and ALABANZA (3.05) showed enough at Hamilton when hunting up odds-on Where’s Jeff to think he can lift this 1m 2f handicap at the main expense of Ravenhoe.

NATAJACK (2.30) is another Hamilton winner reappearing quickly and his course and distance third to  John Honeyman in May was another good piece of form. I suspect Rebecca Bastiman’s four-year-old has improved since then.

Local trainer R Mike Smith saddles previous course winner GLASSES UP (2.00) and his gelding can confirm that narrow advantage over runner-up Home Before Dusk.

Disappointing to see Russia go out, they have done themselves and their great fans proud. while the vast majority of people didn’t give Russia a chance in this World Cup some of us knew they weren’t as bad as people were saying and that playing at home would help them but then again it’s my job to be able to analyse teams, so it’s all down to Belgium and looking at the four teams left I wouldn’t want to change them for anyone else, Belgium are so far clear on the stats that the only team that can beat Belgium is Belgium and I can’t see that happening
It’s done and dusted and it’s not coming home

    • recoba 6 years ago

Agreed John on the Russians and it’s a Belgium Croatia final for me…4/1 I got. England have done as they should with the teams theve played so fair play
to them but if they beat the teams remaining to win it I’ll be astounded.

When it gets to this stage anyone can beat anyone.
I can see a Belgium-England final but need to look at it a bit more.

I agree Belgium look the strongest side but I don’t think it’s done and dusted.

    REAVER 14/1 ew 2.05 lim

Well beaten by some of today’s rivals on his first start over hurdles but will hopefully know more today as he pulled very hard and made a few jumping errors to put pay to his chances. Is rated 79 on the flat so if he can get his act together should be able to get involved. Trainer has a good record at the track and the booking of dirty Dave catches the eye

Let it go papa 11/2 3.05 Ayr

Last time he ran over 9f he finished 4th.
The winner followed up off 6lbs higher and the 3rd also won nto.
Keatley won this race in 2015 with his only previous entry in the race and with ground trip and bottom weight must go close

ELAPIDAE 3:10 Ayr 13-2, was still going well at this trip last time, the stable are in much better form now. The race has a good bit of form substance to it too.

    Golf Update

Already got a 40/1 place winner in the golf and LAHIRI 70/1 is in with a decent shout today only three shots off the lead after a poor +1 round yesterday, the good news is he can’t play the front nine that bad again after three putting so many times but turned it around on the back nine

Superb Alan T! Was all over Ventura like a lampshade last night and it won nicely after being heavily backed.
Just a pity I done a patent with NatJack thats been your only loser so far and Johns Nap. Got to laugh at that but nice profit and here’s Hoping Lexington Place wins.

    Cheers!
