5000-1 Leicester Lead Top 10 Sporting Shocks

IF Leicester win the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday it will be the biggest betting shock in history.

Some bookies marked up the Foxes at 5000-1 at the start of the season and as we know dozens of people backed them at that prices – and many have cashed out.

To put in perspective Northern Ireland are 5000-1 to win the 2018 World Cup with Coral and Justin Bieber is 5000-1 to one day be President of the USA. To be fair to Bieber he’d do a better job than Donald Trump as long as he promised not to sing.

Here are Coral‘s top 10 sporting betting shock – let’s hear about yours.

5000-1: Leicester to win the Premier League. If it doesn’t happen on Sunday it will be Monday or next weekend.

300-1: American unknown Ben Curtis winning The Open in 2003.

250-1: Equinoctial winning at Kelso on the November 21, 1990 – biggest-priced winner in horse racing history.

250-1: Goran Ivanisevic winning Wimbledon 2001.

150-1: Greece winning Euro 2004.

150-1: Joe Johnson winning the 1986 Snooker World Championship.

100-1: Foinavon winning the 1967 Grand National

100-1: Jeremy Corbyn winning the Labour 2015 Leader Election.

66-1: Japan beating South Africa in the Rugby World Cup 2015.

42-1: Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson in 1990.

Not sure if inplay counts, MrF, but at half time Liverpool, losing 0-3, were 100/1 to lift the trophy against AC Milan in the Champs League Final, 2005.

Also, Frankie Detorri (spelling) was 25,000/1 to win all seven races at Ascot in 1996, and he pulled it off. (25,000/1? That’s just crazzzeee!)

Come to think of it, that Dettori bet can’t be right, surely. 25,000 just to win seven races? Surely some mistake.

Perfectly reasonable comments, I’d have thought.
